Clinton piles up research in preparation for debate, while Trump does what Trump does

Yeah. While the GOP primary debates were a fun shitshow to watch, it seems that a lot of people are forgetting that this is what a GE debate actually looks like.

Now envision Trump in this setting.

I just hope he doesn't get under her skin and she ends up lowering to his level. Only thing I'm afraid of.

Perhaps, but I think this exact strategy from Trump is something they're aware of and preparing for. If Hillary knows well beforehand the type of character Trump is, she can better prepare for lowball comebacks like him bringing up Monica Lewinsky or something.

She endured HOURS of ridiculous Benghazi hearings.

I think she'll be fine.

Key differences between the primary debates and the GE.

1. 1-on-1. Advantage Hillary
2. Opposing parties, so Hillary does not have to "agree" with Trump on key issues the GOP find important. Advantage Hillary.
3. No crowd involvement. All those one-lines and zingers during the primaries will be like watching a sitcom without a laugh track. Advantage Hillary

Watch the Donald pull a Romney and win the first debate.

The internet...it would explode.

Well, again, part of the reason Romney arguably won that first 2012 debate was because he spent time preparing for it, and Obama mistakenly though that four years into his presidency he didn't need to put a similar effort in.

This year that scenario is firmly in Clinton's favor unless Trump suddenly decides to spend the next month cramming.

Is that the official reason? I remember a Daily Show interview where Jon asked him about it, and he just shrugged it off as having an off night.

It's not. This is all just conjecture on my part. However, it's probably easier for he himself to explain it as an off night rather than admitting getting out-prepared on debate preparation. In any case he recovered for the next two debates, likely the result of increased practicing.

Remember that one time where Trump complained about a debate being too long.

Clinton lived through an 11-hour Benghazi hearing aka Witch hunt.

Do some of you guys seriously think Trump is some masterful debater? He's a fucking manchild.

I'll usually be on the cautious side had I not seen Hillary handle debates and especially the Benghazi bitch hunt. She's dealt with this her whole life and I'm pretty sure she knows the stakes on that debate. I'm betting on her.

I just hope the moderators have a button to mute their microphones, so if he tries to ramble or interrupt like he usually does it will be neutered.

unless trump whips his dick out and starts slapping it on the podium the media will declare him the winner to preserve the horse race narrative heading into the final stretch of the campaign season. i hope this helps.

Hillary isn't Obama, and Trump is Romney. There's pretty much zero chance that Trump "wins" a traditional debate.

Even putting aside the comparative intelligence and the fact that Trump isn't doing anything to get ready for the debates here, lets keep another thing in mind.Trump is characteristically incapable of handling a woman talking to him on equal terms.

When Megan Kelly actually pressed him to give legitimate answers, the result was him avoiding a debate until Fox forced her to reconcile with him (I literally am unable to think how else that interview with him and her occurred the way it did). He also lost his shit at a reporter pressing him for an answer one time.

Now he's expected to take on one of the best female debators in politics? That's goddamn hilarious. He's going to lose his shit within 10 minutes.

It's kind of amazing to me that people still look at Trump as some kind of genius, when it's become so clear that he's not, and that he's clueless as to what he's actually doing the more time goes on.

Fox News and other right wing media might, but the general media has turned on Trump big time since the general election. He's been met with pretty much nothing but a brick wall from any place that doesn't eschew to the far right.

I hope a moderator asks them the God question:

Republicans love their religiosity. But Trump has none, Hillary actually grew up Methodist and would demolish Trump and win over some religious Republicans.

Hillary needs to stay focused and not get baited. She has a tendency to overreact to some things, or underreact (aka "what difference does it make?"), and it makes her look bad. If she does eye-rolling or other emotive stuff, it'll look bad.

She also has a tendency to give answers to certain questions that makes things much worse or make weird unforced errors like the Nancy Reagan thing. Anyway, hopefully all the debate prep will get her ready for those kinds of mistakes and Gary Johnson will fail to meet the 15% requirement for the debates. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they have a plan for that just in case.

I'm really hoping he shows up to this one, because no way in hell will he do the others after.
Yeah, he's definitely backing out of the rest after he gets slaughtered on the first. Can't wait to hear what his excuses'll be.

I'm gonna have to find some jpgs of Martin Lawrence and his swole ass face from that Tommy Hearns fight to post after this first debate is over and Trump goes to Twitter to talk shit.

My anticipation for the first debate is off the charts.

The hype is too real, so I'm actually expecting to be disappointed. I mean, I hope it's nuts, but Trump has given a few lackluster debate perforamces before, and he tried appearing "presidential" in at least one of them.

I need that raw Trump, but I'm kinda skeptical we'll get him on the presidential debate stage...

could be nuts tho

I'm of the view Trump is totally unsuited to a 1v1 debate where he has to be detailed and on topic. The primary debates on the GOP side were an absolute farce where most candidates were too scared to touch Trump for fear of falling afoul of his supporters in the party.

He was also barely fact checked and barely challenged. Seriously, moments like him lying about the accusations he flung at Rubio on his website, or saying China is in the TPP will get him killed on stage.

The only W Trump has is for whining. He'll whine that the moderators were unfair and the whole thing was rigged, because he's a whiny little bitch.

Gonna remain nervous about this until it's over. Still worried just because Trump is unpredictable.

I'm not nervous about Trump. He's just one man. It's the people that support him, who will continue to be bigoted and hateful towards their fellow Americans regardless of how the election turns out, that scare me.

That said, I'm expecting him to objectively be slaughtered in the debate, but his supporters will claim he was just "too bold" and will latch onto any Twitter rants he'll make afterwards.
