What I would really like to see is

A) possible ps now games being ps+ games. It'll probably be hard because it's based on streaming time and not on how many games they sell but they need to promote ps now in some sort of fashion. It's a great service but it's just hard to justify with the purchase.

B) New playstation handheld. Call it the psp 2 or whatever. (eh... I can dream)

No, I absolutely do mean most.

PC is pulling 60 FPS on practically every single game with i3 processors. PS4's GPU is more than strong enough for 60 frames on the vast majority of its games, yet it can't achieve that level of performance. Weak AMD Jaguar cores are the cause.
Weak AMD jaguars have given us many 60fps games on these consoles. However, console devs would target 30fps in most titles whether they had a jaguar or an i5.

There's a shift coming where they're trying to give 30 on SP and 60 on MP, that's commendable but most of them still focus on 30, doesn't mean that 60fps is not possible with Jaguar cores. Look at a game like UC4 mp, it's 900p 60fps with great physics also utilizing GPGPU. We have battlefield 1 running at average 35fps on a 750ti with a much stronger CPU at 900p, yet the PS4's framerate is closer to 60fps. There are many other instances where such scenarios could be shown.

People like to deposit their faeces on Jaguar cores, but they're certainly not as bad as the useless hyperbole suggests. Look at this gen, especially on the XB1, all the 720p resolutions, weak AA, weak shadows, fps falling when a couple of effects are on the screen are primarily GPU deficient issues.

Let's think for a bit, why are companies like Sony and especially MS talking about how powerful their new GPU's are, because having spoken to developers they've been told what would really improve framerates and graphics fidelity on the new iterative machines, what's more important to them and what's less of a hassle to them currently in the present console development environment.

Rumor: The N in NEO stands for Nintendo.

Nintendo going 3rd party rumor starts here!

Nintendo is rumoured to be announcing NX soon. Coincidence? I think not!
Neo=NX and Neo is the console version while Nintendo is developing the handheld version.

The fact that people think for a minute that Sony might announce a brand new handheld--a successor to the Vita--and not a revision (if that) is absolutely baffling.

And this is coming from a massive Vita fan. Barring some massive reversal in the market, Sony will never make a new traditional handheld again.
Think as Colin said on the latest Kindafunny gamescast episode might be right about it’s about not conceding the hill to Nintendo and give them a handheld monopoly with the NX. I too am a vita owner/lover but don’t think it will happen but could and does kind of make sense to screw Nintendo and split the market because Nintendo far more likely to give up hardware than Sony at this stage and with all their eggs in the NX basket if it fails is likely to be there last console, maybe playing the long game plus sales in Japan are actually really good is often the bestselling console for a given week. Pie in the sky but I can dream and sony might have a bright idea up there sleeve if it plays ps3 games for instance? Anyway a really cool chat about it on the gamescast https://youtu.be/aQtc1tVYnuI

Framerate will barely be improved (if at all, in many titles).

GPU power is being stressed because visual flair is more marketable. You STILL have people who swear the human eye can't see over 24 FPS.

That, and there really isn't a demand for 60 FPS in the console market. Otherwise devs would be demanding stronger CPUs and/or making game design sacrifices to meet the 60 FPS target.

In my opinion, at least.

People questioning if the NEO will show up, other asking for a source on a joke about the NEO beeing an N64 like add-on

I agree i don't where this we need a powerful CPU to get 60fps talk is coming from .
Also this gen we have gotten more 60fps games since more fps have gone 60fps .
Since the hardware makers have to choose they should also choose more GPU power over cpu .

I sure wouldn't mind a Vita Neo, with a beefier PowerVR GPU and faster CPU.

However, I'm thinking the "PSP like device" that is rumored (but perhaps not rumored to show at the Meeting) is more likely just another Vita revision, a la PS4 Slim, without upgraded components.

VITA NEO with true 720p support!

Those visual novels will POP!

Any vita/psp 2 or even revision I am buying day 1 cause my og vita is on it's last legs and i use each day they could be charging £400 for a vita 2 would still buy it the amount of use i got out of the vita, thats just how i feel there is a hard core like me but thats very small would be far happier if £150 day 1 with loads of cool games as might have confidence not going to be an indie machine, is PS3 back compatable that would be amazing as so many ps3 games i have not got too.

The "NEO" isn't going to show up, or release in 2016.

I wish there was something tangible I could bet with someone on this forum. I'm that confident that it won't show, despite what people on here think.

You'll certainly consume a great deal of crow. That much is sure

So what's the latest in Neo Rumours?!

Now people think it will be an N64-like expansion pack for the PS4 Slim haha
That obviously can't be true because the console wouldn't be heavy enough. :)

If there is a new Vita I think the name will depend on if it's just another "slim" revision, or if it adds new capabilities, or if it's a generational leap considering how old the Vita is.

People calling Jaguar weak but as far as I can remember 8 Jaguar cores have been the best CPU to go into a PlayStation console. PlayStations never had a beast of a CPU it has always been the Vector Unit co-processors that helped out, the only thing is that for PS4 the co-processing was done by GPU compute.

Lol, what's really amazing is Sony still hasn't publicly announced the event - Adam Boyes must have deleted the blog post on the way out while Grace Chen was busy baking PS Plus.

Sheer delusion.

Sony are not inviting press from all over the world just to show a Slim PS4.

Considering how old the Vita is, if Sony releases a new handheld then I think it's time for a generational leap like PSP -> Vita. Since Sony likes matrix names, I'm going with "Playstation Zion". I bet it will also use an APU like modern devices and have at least a 1080p resolution screen (and hopefully X/O/Triangle/Square buttons the same size as dual-shock 4 buttons). 2016 is already crowded with hardware releases from Sony so I would think a 2017 release.
