Dusk Golem. I'm coming for that booty, super glue your asshole nerd.

Sounds like no Leon. That's kind of a love it and hate it thing for me.
He worded it oddly. He said 'making a horror game based around Leon is difficult...so he's a bad match for horror'

They specifically mention Leon (out of nowhere), not Chris or anyone else, say this, and then leave it be. I could be reading into it too much, but if they really wanted this to be just about Ashcroft, they would have just kept the topic on Ashcroft, like they did for Ethan in 7.

So Pragmata looks fun. Probably Capcom's new era Megaman.

RE9 footage looked great and both perspectives will add replayability.

If Leon isn't in RE9 or playable then I think that's a great thing because he is overused. A cameo or support role would be fine.

I like having new characters that add to the lore of RE so I'm hyped for that.

They probably saw 9S in Nier Automata and thought it would be a good idea
I'm not sure its exactly like in Automata since when 9S hacks it stops the action to do the mini game while in this you do the hacking while fighting.

I dont know I thought it looks fun.

I agree and also I agree devs saying it hard make horror game around Leon because they guy is way too experienced to be scare of anything.

Personally you can just add a Mercenaries mode and add in every character ever and do speed runs if they wanted to.

Or give us some more H.U.N.K. exposure and give more spotlight to other Outbreak or Revelations characters.

What we know now is the game takes place in 2028 more or less so it may be time to place the game on the timeline and determine if there will be any connections to RE7 and RE8 events or involve Rose in some way.

I would think because of the heavy rumor milling about Leon being the main character.

Re9 both looks okay and cheap. Something about the way objects look in the RE engine these days is not appealing to me - specifically the scene with the child's toys on the table just looks.. off to me. The aura it gives off is not right for me. Akin to rubber perhaps.

My main concern with RE9 is that it has the dual perspective option - but what perspective was it truly designed for? My guess is 1st person which is not encouraging to me. I would rather Resident Evil be a third person experience and designed with that in mind. Guess we will see in time.

Well yes using Leon pretty much means they need to make an action game like 4. I liked the direction of VII and Village, personally. With remakes in between.

Its kind of baffling Capcom never really capitalized on Mercs though. They can expand Reunion or RE4R Mercs to stand alone games, and offer MTX and map packs for those.

From the footage they shown the 3rd person looked great and unlike RE8 they designing the game around the two camera perspective in mind instead of after thought update in RE8.

Mercs, Outbreak, and Raid mode. All 3 missed potential for multiplayer RE.

At least mercs is featured more often than the other two I guess 🤷‍♂️

I gotta think he has to be in it at some point. Do you really make a game going back to raccoon city without Leon. That would anger alot of fans. But I get not including him. Including one of the main characters kind of will take the suspense away when you know they will likely survive. And I don't think you can include Leon and only have him as a minor role in the game. You kind of have to go all in with him or not at all. Atleast I think so.

Leon Separate Ways DLC. Look forward to it.

Perhaps. I can't think of a game off hand that feels great in both perspectives for me personally.

They clearly follow a more horror template since VII. Which is more like the old games where the cast weren't superheroes yet.

But from RE4 onward Leon, Chris and Jill are just invincible killing machines. They can do WWE style shit on zombies. Its fun, sure, but it doesn't fit with the narrative of current mainline RE.

It will be cool if they eventually go back though, and release an RE with both Jill and Leon who never paired up IIRC. Ofcourse this would mean the inclusion of those ridiculous moves again. Or perhaps a prequel style game that takes place during the original trilogy or something.

When news of 1st and 3rd person option dropped it kind of led me to think it would have more action focused segments where 3rd person is recommended, but the reiteration of keeping it horror focused kind of puts that theory to rest.

My bet is still on a dual campaign, DLC campaign, or an unlockable campaign (which would be a good twist).

Even if he's not in, I'll still enjoy the game because it will be resident evil gameplay, level design, and puzzle solving.

The hacking mechanic during combat doesn't look to difficult or annoying from the extended preview. I did notice a timer though and I fucking loathe timers!

Because usually those games like Bethesda games were made with FPS perspective in mind and third person was just afterthought option

But with RE9 one of the key point they advertising is the two perspectives so I trust Capcom they are know what they doing.

Survey is up on their website (link in the OP)

Too bad it requires a Capcom ID, otherwise I'd be sending them my regards.

Exactly. Games are typically designed with one perspective in mind and the other is an optional or situational perspective.

This is where we differ in that I don't inherently have faith that they will produce something that works just as effectively in both perspectives but I'm open to the idea and we shall see.

To be fair they did add Chris to VII and Village, despite him being in 5 and 6 as a boulder puncher. He had more powerful melee, but otherwise he couldn't do a lot of different things to Ethan.

So yeah Leon might appear in a support role like this, or in a DLC chapter of sorts.
