Power supplies aren't designed to run at 100% all the time. The Pro will likely draw around 200W during gameplay.Looking at the 8GB RX470 which is a ~5TF card that has a power draw of ~133 Watts. The one I looked at has a core clock of 1254Mhz and 2048 shaders so how the fuck does the PS4 pro even need a 310 Watt power supply? A 2304 911mhz Polaris should draw no more than 110 Watts, probably less, the CPU, WiFi, mobile, HDD etc should use less than 50 watts. This is the same ballpark as the OG ps4 so why do they need the beefier power supply? It seems odd to me.
New rendering techniques such as checkerboard rendering etc. More advanced AA etc. Mark also said something about hardware so may have Sony's scaler built in.What could the Pro be doing to be displaying those games at 4K? My 4K set displays 1080p games at an upscale to 4K, but they don't look like that! I wonder how they are doing it.....
the box size is also way bigger than OG PS4 so the cooling will be beafier.Something doesnt compute.Jaguar clocked higher than 2,1 Ghz and bringing consumptions to the roof?.Looking at the 8GB RX470 which is a ~5TF card that has a power draw of ~133 Watts. Asking the real questions. We need answers. How loud is it?
It isn't AFAIK.Damn, better GPU than my 970, impressive.
4 years from now it's the Jaguar CPU that will be holding this back. If the new XBOX really is using Zen that may be a lot more important than more GPU flops.

True. Seems like the Xbox S is almost as powerful and does more media wise than the new Pro. That's pretty crazy!
Until streaming came along and ate disc media's lunch.

Project Scorpio = over 6 TF.Almost as powerful? No.
PS4 = 1.8 TF - PS4 Pro = 4.2 TF
Xbox One = 1.3 TF - Xbox One S = 1.4 TF

Plus Neo is most likely up scaling from 1800p.

Just as i thought about the Xbox One S. I dont really care. Will wait for Scorpio.
PS4 Pro and Xbox One S doesnt really seem like a big leap, and my PS4/XBO is good enough for me. No reason to buy another one of either.
However, I will say they are nice for people who dont own one yet. For me though, Im just excited for the Scorpio.
I get the front now, it's a heater guys.

Damn that power consumption is pretty big for a console. Its nowhere near high end gaming PC's but still.
Doubt it. I see it hitting near 6tf but not easily after another 399 price from Sony. It won't be over 6tf for sure.Project Scorpio = over 6 TF.
This. Twice the power (only on the GPU side) and launching 3 years later shouldn't usually take that much more power. I'm guessing they would have used a smaller chip manufacturing process, but couldn't because of complexity or the big numbers they needed?310 Watts is not a problem, it's a curiosity. It shouldn't use any more power than the OG PS4 so why the bigger supply, there has to be a reason and I cant see it in the spec sheet.
Just 6Project Scorpio = over 6 TF.

You wouldn't put a 300W power supply to a gaming pc either.

Do you remember that these games are also being rendered at a much higher resolution?
Just 6

Pretty sure just HDR10 since Sony TVs don't support Dolby Vision at all.

Better. CPU destroys Jaguar, GPU much better too.How would an i5-6500 + GTX 1060 compare to these specs?
How would an i5-6500 + GTX 1060 compare to these specs?
Nothing? The GPU will draw more power even if it's 16nm. Also the CPU overclock will require more voltage.OG PS4 used just under 150 Watts from a 250 watt PSU, nothing in the pro spec sheet suggests it will use more than 150 Watts so why increase the PSU?
Lol.CPU will add .1!
So 6.1 TF!
6tf of GPU power. I'm not even going to try and predict anything.source ?
pretty sure thats just a baseline to cover their asses
