Dead Rising |OT| Chop Till You Drop Remastered

Got the 2 Japanese tourists, seems like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place trying to get them back to the safehouse. Either go North and get utterly swarmed by zombies in the North Plaza, or go south and into the park, and have to deal with the convicts fucking them up.

Good lord, Kent is giving me trouble on his pose picture. Is anyone else having the sane issue? I don't remember it being this hard.

or just beat adam and unlock the shortcut >.>

I usually use my first play through as a way to get the 50K kill achievement by running over zombies in the garage which makes future playthoughs easier due to the levels you earn.

Two important questions:

1. Are DR2 and OTR simply not working for others on PS4? I boot them up but they get frozen before the title screen... Probably need to re-download them again.

2. What is the easiest way to beat Adam for someone that is terrified of clowns? I've let this guy stop me from playing this game in the past but I'm not going to now, lol. I imagine the best way would be to try to get the Zombie Genocide trophy as soon as I can and then restart my playthrough and just use the Real Megabuster on him exclusively (while skipping those cutscenes). I know he's not mandatory but he might as well be... plus I want to get all the trophies (I'm aware that the trophy for getting ten psycho kills has a picture of him. I'm prepared).

Because he was originally meant to have an injured ankle as a story element. Still looks hilarious though. Up there with Gabe Logan's ShitMyPants run animation.

yep

Dat hunch run

Was super disappointed his posture improved so much in OTR.

Adam is honestly really easy. There's cops in the area that drop handguns, pick those up and bring a bat. Hard knock down per hit, run around him and smack him again. When he blows up a balloon shoot him with said handgun.

The thing is... I really don't want to have to look at him any longer than I have to. :)

So, I haven't seen this in here but I haven't scanned the entire thread. Apologies if it's been asked, but is the PC version of DR2 and OTR the same as what was just released? I picked them up awhile back for cheap during a Steam sale, but want to make sure I'm playing the best version. Is there any reason for me to pick up the PS4 version now?

The new console versions are just ports of the PC version.

So, I'm on Case 2-3, the Medicine Run mission, and I barely have any time to complete it. By the time I get to the grocery store, the time bar is empty. I completed it anyway but as soon as I turned it in all the remaining story missions got a Time Expired stamp and I'm prompted to restart or reload. Am I missing some faster way to get there or did I fuck up and save myself into what's basically an unwinnable situation? Like, should I normally have plenty of time to complete the mission?

God damn! Rushed home from work, got it installed only to find that I get the message 'unable to save for some unknown reason' when I try to save on the first couch !

If you find a fix for this be sure to post it into the thread (I looked and couldn't find anything). I'll try playing to the point where you can save at a restroom later and see if that fixes it.

Did you use multiple save slots? If not you might have been too short on time. You see after you kill the psycho you have to run back to the safehouse with the medication.

Mayne you can kill the psycho faster? Its def possible to screw yourself over with a save and you'll have to restart and keep all your unlocked skills and other upgrades OR you could hold out another day in the mall and try so focus on survivors. Make sure you're at the helipad on the last day and you'll get one of the endings.

But if you restart you can get back to where you were so much quicker because of all the upgrades.

I still had the small chainsaw, so I killed the psycho pretty fast. I was only using one save so, yeah, I think I was screwed time-wise anyway. Didn't know I could still get an ending, though. I just died and saved my status to restart.

But yeah, I imagine I'll get back there much faster now. Especially since I just got to level 15 and Frank's speed just got a +1. I thought he was slow as fuck before and couldn't believe there wasn't a sprint function, so it's a very welcome upgrade.

You can usually test by turning on the Hz graph in your monitor menus.

Working on my end.

Figured out what this was. nVidia slightly changed how Gsync behaves in recent drivers I guess. I had a weird habit of disabling vsync in game menus even when using gsync (which used to be meaningless), but now it actually determines what happens when the game's framerate exits your gsync refresh rate range.

So in the starting helicopter photography scene I was getting over 144fps and since I had vsync off in the game menu I could see some tearing.

Devs have identified the issue and a workaround for the DirectX initialization issue:

The intermittent save issue is something they're trying to reproduce with no luck so far. They'll monitor customer feedback and see if they can identify a trend. Either way, please keep an eye on the Steam community sub forum for support issues for further updates.

Is it worth it to drop a hundo on the whole franchise or should I stick with a single version?

I've only ever played the demo of the first one for 360 all those years ago.

Killed a few survivors because I tried to take an efficient route back to the security room and instead wandered around lost because my path was blocked by shutters.

Oh and OP a good idea for dead rising 1 info for the OT:

Remember to complete the game with an ending after unlocking the megabuster. You do not want to be the sad bro who mowed zombies down for 8 hours in the tunnels who misses the megabuster because he didn't go save and sit on the helipad for a few hours.

Buy DR1 on GMG for like 15$, then wait for the others to go on sale during the fall sale where you'll be able to grab them for like 30$ total.

I've managed to get past the DirectX issue thanks to that but now I have no audio at all in the game.

.

Same applies for the Beam Saber if you go for 5 day survivor. Infinity mode only saves when you die so when the trophy pops go give the nearest zombie a congratulatory hug.

Edit: well don't do that if your going for 7 day lol

Ya they used to enable triple buffered vsync when the frame rate reaches your maximum refresh rate, in our case 144 FPS. Did they change that?

Yeah, if you want it to behave like before you'll need to have vsync on in the game or force it in the drivers (and again, it'll only kick in when you exit gsync range). I don't know if it respects triple buffering preferences in that case but I'd assume so.

Come back on a second run. He's just not worth it until you have a high enough level to tank multiple shots. If you're dead set on it though, there are a bunch of cheese tactics vids on yt to look up.

Just cheese him from outside the store with a sniper

DR1 is still the best in the franchise, though mechanically there are improvements in the sequel it isn't nearly as charming or as engaging when it comes to micro-challenges, personality, or setting. Just be prepared as the first game can be extremely difficult for newcomers with a stark learning curve before you really settle into a groove with multiple runs.

DR2 is alright though. Again a lot of it comes down to many of us having fond memories for the first, and everything including the protagonist, bosses, and setting just didn't feel as novel. Still, its fine on its own and gives another zombie rampage to endure after having your fill of the first game. Likely though its not the sort of franchise you experience back to back at all and the first game still comes recommended. (Oh and I never played the Frank West revamp of the sequel, but I haven't heard anything too great about it other than repurposing a few assets for fans of DR1).

This OT title sucks. Chop till you drop is a different game, it's misleading. It'd be like calling an OT for Zelda 1 on the virtual console Zelda l OT l - A Link to the Past

Game is great and runs beautifully in 60 fps. Trying to debate on when to do the grinding. Kinda wanna beat it first, but might be most efficient to get it now, before I burn myself out.

Just got a crash and I'm not sure if it was my system of the game (leaning towards the latter- I removed my OC that caused my last crash) :(

It was right after the cutscene when (end of day2 spoiler)
Barnaby dies
. The game exits the cutscene and goes right into photo mode, except I had no camera control. Game crashed a split second later.

Eh, not really. Most people around here understand that anything after |OT| in thread titles is not the name of the game. I actually think your Zelda example is really clever and would be a perfect title for a thread.
