So in the 60s continual race rioting actually finally got new laws passed. Have the riots just not been big enough the last two years to accomplish the same thing yet? Or has the USA just gotten so racist it doesn't matter anymore?

Do you actually think the USA is somehow more racist now than it was in the 60s?

dude look like he got knock out at first but dude just shoulder tackled him. Reporters better watch out!

It was a pretty brutal and fast attack, totally a sucker punch. Doesn't look like the reporter was injured. Had the wind knocked out of him though. He's talking now again.

I believe if dems got control of all three houses we could pass reforms. We don't have that.

Why is her story instantly more credible? The police are saying he had a gun and there's body cam footage. It seems unlikely they would make it up if it can easily be disproved.

Don't discount the extent to which police will cover up their murders

It is likely that they make shit up.

Yes.

The only difference is that the game has changed.

This is part of the reason we can't make any changes. People have deluded themselves into thinking that the the more subdued injustices of the modern era aren't as bad as the blatancy of the civil rights era.

Sometimes I don't know

This is not new. Cops have been beating and killing black men for decades. Back then nobody even gave a shit. At least today it makes the news.

Our society is nowhere near post racism but to suggest it's actually worse than it was back then is foolish.

Honestly with the echo chamber of the internet, I think your average person might actually be more racist in thought and attitude. A fair amount of racism in the 60s was people just living how they were raised and being in the culture of segregation, That is gone now. So to be racist now your making yourself racist, I think that is a big difference. Give it a Trump presidency and another 20 years and the USA might be segregated again and this time it would include muslims and african americans.

I get that but there's apparently video. You can't really argue with that. If there's something dodgy going on its going to become clear straight away.

Obviously there's lots of other questions but the basic story is so different somebody is lying.

Didn't see that, I only saw a dude get shoulder checked to the ground.
Somewhere around the 9:22 mark, in actual est.

30 days and we just get a soundbite on the news. Maybe in 100 years someone will actually be held accountable

They need to get that video out ASAP, although I know for a lot of people it won't matter even if the guy is pointing a gun at them.

Hornets team store looted. (The Hornets' arena is like a block away from the intersection where the protest seems to be centered right now.)

Multiple witnesses have stated such. The report in the Walter Scott situation was also totally different when the video was leaked..

She goes into some pretty specific details. The dash cam and body cam footage needs to be released. The back and forth of contradictory details is really upsetting me.

I'm betting we don't see the footage or a very heavily edited + shaky cam at absolute best (1 year later).

I dont mind protests what so ever however I hate the ass holes that attach themselves to it and feel they can do whatever they want by destroying property and businesses etc.

The reporter that was assaulted just said that the guy that did it came up to him and apologized. Said he really couldn't explain why he did it but he was sorry.

That mob mentality most likely.

I wish there was more information on the fatal civilian on civilian attack tonight, but I guess it's fresh news right now without much information.
