So here's what gets me about the whole Patriots thing. Living in Boston, I get a much closer view of the team than a lot of other fans, so I knew they were going to be good. Even without Brady, they added one of the best TEs in the game not named Gronk with Gronk, and they have been building an excellent defense. I thought maybe they'd drop a game or 2, but it was BB. Even without Brady, he'd be able to get some wins out of the team. They are incredibly well-coached and there's a lot more talent on that team than just Brady. So there's nothing crazy about them going 4-0, BB was going to have this team ready. That's not what makes this frustrating.
What makes this frustrating is that these games haven't even been good. It has not been simply a matter of BB straight outcoaching these teams in a good, tough football match. Instead, it seems like when these coaches face BB, they just shit themselves. Bruce Arians is a tough coach that runs a tight ship and keeps his players disciplined, or so we thought. Arians looked like he was expecting some JV team when they came to town, and wa completely unprepared for the game. The penalties, the undisciplined linemen, the poor playcalling. Same with BoB. In both of those games, the coaches' game plan was utter trash, and when it wasn't working they didn't know what to do. If not for Fitz bailing out Arians to make the game close, I'd be raking him more, but BoB deserves every bit of scrutiny. Calling a run play on 3rd and 8. Looking utterly lost in the halftime interview. Your punter (your fucking punter!) needing to yell at you to throw the challenge flag. The Texans have no room to shit on the Browns or any other bottom feeding team for the rest of the season, even if they do well and go to the playoffs. That was utterly disgraceful and one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Brock running around like a chicken with his head cut off and Miller running for 2 yds before diving. Like, is BB putting lead chips in their water coolers? Are they all huffing paint before the game? Like I said, there is no shame in losing to the Patriots, especially not in Foxborough. But the level of preparation and the quality of product these two supposedly elite teams with tough coaches was awful. The fucking Dolphins put up more of a fight than you. At least they tried. It is bullshit how the league seems to roll over when the Patriots are involved. If the Patriots are going to beat you, have some fight at least. After these two performances, we deserve to have the Patriots win the Super Bowl. The other teams are too fucking incompetent to deserve it anyway.
