Anyone skipped the Wii U but excited for the NX?

Nope. Many think it will be this month if the system hasn't been delayed.

I hope its this month.

I skipped the wii and wii u. Really hard not to pull the trigger on a wii u. Anyways, I'm excited for the nx, portable/home console sounds really great for a person like me.

Absolutely. Haven't owned a Nintendo console since the GameCube. Wii and Wii U just weren't for me, but after awhile you just get an urge that only Nintendo games can scratch.

Regardless of what NX is, I think I can safely say that I'm on board.

Almost.

I got the Wii U this summer for Mario Kart 8 (after enjoying MK7 on 3DS for so long).

I'm growing weary waiting for NX to be revealed, as weary as I am of the drizzling weather here in Chicagoland.

Yep. Not enough on the Wii U that interested me for the price they're still asking for it. I bought a 3DS but I regretted it due to the hardware and how few games I ended up wanting. But assuming Nintendo can consolidate their console and portable output on the NX, I could be interested. Assuming they don't ask too much for it that is.

Have to see the controller first. If it's flat and unergonomic then I don't care what games it has. I'll pass. I've disliked all Nintendo handhelds except 2DS. That system had the right feel and weight in your hands.

I bought a Wii u when it first came out and never played it. Just recently I started playing mario world, hyrule warriors and xenoblade and now I am pumped for the NX. Nintendo exclusives are just too good to miss.

I had planned to get a Wii U, but couldn't afford a new console at launch. While I still wanted one later on because of the sweet exclusives coming out for it - such as Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade X, DKC:TF and Splatoon - I decided to skip it once I had a new job. Honestly, I never liked the bulky controller let alone the analog stick placement, and with it being obvious that Nintendo was understandably going to cut its console's life short, I decided to just be patient and wait for NX news. It's frustrating that we still don't know what NX is, but I hope its concept is more compelling than Wii U's was.

This generation is the first I have skipped out entirely on between home console and handheld, so I hope NX can bring me back. In the meantime, I'll continue being a F2P mobile gamer that helps pass the time while at work.

I skipped the Wii U... and i am not excited for the NX because they are keeping one of my main gripes with the Wii U (according to rumors), sub-par specs... i am sorry i like Nintendo and their output but i think i'll just get a Wii U dirt cheap with the few games that i am interested in, And i'll wait to do the same with the NX.

Nope. In fact, I'm thinking of doubling down and getting a second Wii U. Despite some of its weaknesses as an actual console, the games lineup is too strong to ignore.

I actually enjoyed the Wii U, I was just severely displeased as to how it turned out.

I would be able to overlook Nintendo's decision to kill of the console early given they didn't have much of a choice, but their mistakes stem back further than that.

They heavily rested on their laurels for the last several years of the Wii's lifespan, and were then arrogant enough to name the Wii U after it despite letting it's predecessor flounder previously.

Axing the servers early for the Wii and DS in their entirety didn't help their case.
Needless to say, I don't have much faith in Nintendo at this point.

Great software, terrible hardware.

-Power-wise, it's a potato that has been limping along for years.
-Ergonomics are horrible. It's seriously the most uncomfortable gaming device I've ever used, behind the original PSP.

I also can't stand the 3D feature, the 3DS is essentially a software prison for me.
Great software. That's what I was getting at. People seem to forget NX is also a 3DS successor.

Me, Wii U was the first nintendo console i skipped, but i have high expectations for NX and will probably buy it when it launch.

That's me! I've always wanted a Wii U but never had enough incentive at any given time to get one(especially since my brother owns one so I get to try his out here and there). Looks like a really nice/sleek system but it didn't have enough to draw me to it I guess. Can't wait for NX though, I'm going to buy that thing day one.

If the rumours are pointing to a device like this video then maybe not excited for the device so mich, but for the games, very excited.

I still think now is a good time to buy a wii u though.

Considering Wii U sales...I think a lot of people.

I'm exited, I like the concept of a unified powerful portable system that brings together their mobile and stationary game developments to avoid droughts, and have one device to play all the new Nintendo games you want. They're also making internal changes to better keep the software flow going. We'll see.

Yep.

Combining handheld and home console in one machine has me incredibly hyped (Pokemon NX!!!) and the PS4 made me realize I'm real ready to go back to a Nintendo console.

I have no doubt Nintendo's going to find a way to screw it up, between the 3DS's ergonomics, abysmal sleep mode, resolution, audio, and initial system price, and the WiiU's entire situation. I'm more skeptical than excited.

I didn't even skip the Wii U but I know how promising the implications of console+handheld are. Having Nintendo all in one place (for the most part, depending on mobile integration) will be sweet! I'm tired of dividing my attention between Wii U and 3DS, and I'm happy that Nintendo can focus their development efforts on one platform. Crossing my fingers for more and better content with higher variety.

wouldn't say i'm excited about NX but it seems to be "Wii U done right", as in real remote play, more modern architecture, ect

i'm wary of Day One-ing nintendo hardware these days but a good launch library + sub $300 price could sell me

It makes me really sad that I'm even thinking about not purchasing the new upcoming Nintendo system. The Wii U didn't have enough for me.

The Wii U, as much as I enjoyed my time with it, always seemed a bit half-baked. If it ends up being more or less a sort of prototype for NX, I'd actually be quite happy.

Yes, it meant four years with a non-starter of a console but maybe it'll pay off for Nintendo in the long run as they zone in on what they do best.

Depends what it is. I skipped Wii U but it has me curious. I grew up on Nintendo in the 80s so I really want something good, but some days it's really hard to not wish they'd just go to being a software dev.

The Wii U is the only Nintendo console I've skipped. Would have gotten it for Zelda, but since it is coming out for NX, but I can skip it.

Skipped the Wii and Wii U both but am looking forward to the NX, depending on what it ends up being.

Wanted to get a Wii U, and still do, but it's too expensive for what it is. I'm not going to spend $300 + $50/game for that. Maybe $150 + $30/game or something.

Owned every Nintendo console since SNES, skipped the WiiU. In the end there just wasn't enough incentive for me. There are some good exclusives but by the time the volumes reached critical mass it was kinda clear that the console would be abandoned.

Am really looking forward to NX and everything points to a day one purchase but frankly we "know" almost nothing about it. It's all mire or less elaborate speculation.

I enjoy my Wii U but not so sure about the NX.

I didnt like the wii thanks to the wiimote and if NX turns out to use some strange controller that might put me off.

I've been a very content Wii U owner until October of last year but at this point I have almost no interest in the NX. Hopefully, the reveal and launch will be tempting but we will see. I'll be getting a Japanese unit if I do decide to get one since NOA isn't getting any more of my money after Ever Oasis.

Why didnt anyone make a thread for the Akun NX? Doesnt that debunk the Eurogamer rumours like the metaldave dude says? It looks lame and Nintendo wouldnt 1:1 copy it.

I skipped both the Wii and Wii U (in fact I skipped motion control gaming entirely) but I'm really excited for the NX and as long as it feels like good quality as a handheld and I can use regular controls on the big screen, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

Nintendo's Wii and DS games were built on GameSpy Technology's matchmaking platform. The company who bought GT decided to shut down the platform in 2014. EA, Capcom and others were also affected by this. Nintendo either decided not, or weren't technically able, to patch their older games for play on Nintendo Network.

I'll probably get an NX, too.

Question: What are the chances that Wii U titles will be BC on NX?
I imagine Wii U titles won't be BC. We may get re-releases or remasters though.

With the limited audience of Wii U, BC is kind of pointless and would only be a costly inclusion. Maybe software-level BC will be an option down the line, but for now, Nintendo needs a clean break.

Didn't they just simply decide not to pay Gamespy anymore. Activision was also using the Nintendo WFC for their titles, and their online games still work.

My excitement for the NX is a function of confirmed information about it, so it's still pretty much zero at the moment. I'm much more nervous than excited for the thing.

Then again, I haven't skipped the Wii U myself, so it's possible I'm just not starved enough for Nintendo games to be hyped about something I know virtually nothing about.

Wii U, first Nintendo console I passed on since the NES. I've been a lifetime customer but somehow this thing didn't resonate with me at all. And yes, I'm excited about that NX business, but I have no clue what to expect. I guess I'll pick it up just for Zelda, that's what made me pick up the Wii. Come to think of it, had the Wii U been released with a Zelda title I would've been compelled to pick it up, too.
