Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Beat the remake of Gears, most dudebro game I've ever played.

Now I'm off to track down a copy of 2, which I can get for $5 as opposed to buying the digital version on Live for $20.
Or you can wait until Gears of War 4 comes out since every other game in the series will be playable with purchase of that game.

Damn. Beaten multiple times over. The physical version gives you access to everything too.

Like others, Guwange is still not showing up for me (I'm in the US). :(

Would really like to play it without having to fire up the 360.

I wonder if the holdup on multi-disc digital releases is in relation to the Xbox 360 store.

If managing multi-disc games is a feature unique to the Xbox 360 emulator the X1 is running, perhaps they don't have a way to release a 360 title on the marketplace while restricting it to Xbox One purchases in the process?
I'm fairly certain you can run multi disc games on a modded Xbox 360 by having all game files present in the same folder - this can't be easily applied to GOD packages however, what digital retail Xbox 360 games use and installed games. I know some games like Assassin's Creed IV had a GOD release despite being two discs - but I'm also pretty sure it had one executable and thus could be released that way. Max Payne 3 did this with free DLC you downloaded after installing the game itself. The Witcher 2 is an odd one since the GOD release would actually fit on one disc, so I'm guessing some sort of compression was used to make it happen.

In short though, I'm guessing Lost Odyssey is probably running how it is by allowing the executable to run directly without any sort of packaging and running how it would on a modded console, or it's using four separate GOD packages that has some sort of software running that auto swaps the "disc" and continues the game like that. No clue if we can't see the file system.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use a 360 controller with the windows 10 xbox streaming app? I'm trying to use my sfxt stick and it doesn't seem to be working.

Played a little bit of Guwange yesterday. Hope the Dodonpachi games and Mushihimesama 2 comes over, too (although, I'm guessing all those games have separate publishers)!

I tried Fable 2 for the first time since before all the recent updates, and it still seems a little "framey" in the beginning with all the snow, but I think it's just a tiny bit better than it was before. I didn't get far enough to get a job and see if that was more manageable now. I remember it really bothering me before.

If you buy Gears 4 before the end of 2016, you get digital copies of every 360 GoW game for free.

Any edition from any retailer? Digital or physical only? I just looked up the regular edition on Amazon and didn't see anything about the older games, but I only skimmed.

I plan on picking up GoW 4 relatively soon, and would love to have the 360 predecessors, too.

What about the gears 3 framerate?

Can I actually play the multiplayer on Xbox One without being disadvantaged now?

I haven't been on as often as I used to be, but the difference between Gears 3 BC before the most recent patch and after is significant.

Input lag seems gone, and the framerate isn't dropping like crazy, even in higher level horde. I hopped on TDM and had no issues at all due to performance, where as before I was dropping gnasher shots like I just started playing the series.

Edit:apparently the more recent version of the emulator has introduced some nasty crashing issues, so there's that.

Both physical and digital from any retailer.

From the Amazon store page:

As long as you play it before the end of 2016, they'll automatically be added to your account.

Yes, so much so that I actually used it to play Halo co-op locally with only one Bone controller and a 360 one. I hate that 360 controllers work with Windows 10 and not Xbox One, it's based on the same OS dammit. Well, they've got to sell Bone controllers, I guess.

Looks like I wasn't the only one with an issue playing the Gears 3 campaign. Microsoft is looking into it. Happened in Gears Judgment as well. Must have been part of the latest patch.

I played through Judgment twice earlier this year and had no crashes, but Gears 3 campaign seems almost unplayable right now due to crashes and I wonder if it's something that was introduced with the latest emulator patches, if it's happening in Judgment as well.

The 360 controllers are so much better that stock Xbox One. I haven't tried the refresh yet.

I respectfully disagree. I loved the 360 controller last gen, but it feels like a toy compared to any official Xbox One controller imo.

Yea your opinion is extremely wrong...yea I said it!

The initial release of Xbox One controller is plain and simple ....GARBAGE... loose Thumbtacks.... no head jack..... did I mention loose thumb sticks????

I'm with him. Even with the downsides the XBO pad is the best I've ever used. The 360 pad feels dated now, especially the dpad.

360 pad was the best of all time, then the XBO pad came and destroyed it.

With the pace of arcade racers coming out to market .. I had the urge to play Daytona USA. Would be amazing to have that game playing on the ONE via BC. The true king of "90's arcade" racing games.

Ok,so is there some reason why my SFxT stick or my wireless Tekken 6 stick won't work?(yes I have the wireless x360 adapter for pc) I REALLY don't want to buy a X1 fight stick (especially with PS4 owning the fighting game arena). Plus I already have 5 sticks.

That's weird, they should just work. Maybe it's a restriction on third-party controllers? As they're officially licensed, it shouldn't be the case. Definitely contact MS support.

I don't know if there is any restriction, but a lot of very official looking 360 wireless adaptors are in fact Chinese knockoffs, so that could trigger 3rd party issues.

Thanks for this.

I'm big into Gears Mp so the input lag and dropping frames stopped me from playing.

Gonna jump on tonight and see if it crashes in MP.

Thanks

Have they fixed the issues with the Gears BC performance? I am intending to do a play through of 1 - Judgement in anticipation of 4, and I thought Id play through Ultimate for 1, but I recall 2-Judgement had issues with shitty performance when they first launched as BC.

Ideally Id like to just plat it all on my XB1, but if performance issues remain, should I just play it on my 360? Or have they been fixed up in the intervening time? I tried to google it but only found results re: issues when they launched as BC and my work blocks a lot of the content I can access anyhow.

Thanks.

Performance was massively improved recently, though some people having crashing issues with Gears 3 now (they're being looked into).
