Final Fantasy XV TwitchCon Presentation Stream

Sure, they do a lot of crazy stuff like supplexing a train in battles, but outside of that I don't think their abilities have been too inconsistent. Like, we never see the characters scale a skyscraper in a single leap (unless I'm forgetting that). Eventually, all these characters in FF start killing god-level enemies. It's been awhile since I've played FFXIII, but I don't remember anything inside or outside battles that was too crazy (as opposed to something like Bahamut Zero nuking a continent) that wasn't without the help of their magic/eidolons (even then, ridiculous but nothing like supplexing a train). Care to show some examples?

Not specifically character-related, but FFXIII had some serious scale issues.

You have that one cutscene where the party is falling from Cocoon to Pulse and the entire FMV takes place across two minutes. It takes a commercial airliner 6 hours to cross the US continent.

You also have the whole crystal pillar/Cocoon scale inconsistencies in the ending of XIII and through XIII-2 where Cocoon/Pulse is supposed to be the size of the moon/Earth, and yet the relative scale between them when you're standing in e.g. New Bodhum suggests Cocoon is much smaller.

I dunno, it feels like the abstraction of a smaller world/larger world (e.g. floating continent in FFIII becoming a tiny island in the greater context) didn't quite transition properly to the HD era. Regardless, all of that is rather pedantic and well within the realm of suspension of disbelief (how do superweapons work in TFA?) and it's really best not to drive yourself crazy overthinking it.

Well I guess I can't really say I ever really even thought about the scale in XIII. But I was rather disappointed with the summons/eidolons in XIII not being ridiculous enough (and by half their designs in the first place). XV seems to not have that issue with its magic/summons.

Wait, ring magic was demoed on PC? That's crazy considering we are in October now. This game was never going to ready for September 30th.....

I refuse to believe that a few months of optimization can produce this much of a change and keep the game at a similarly consistency of fps.

Haha, yup!

The game has gone from looking worse than Duscae 2.0 to something which looks close to the 2014 PC dev target render footage.

Pity... I expected they would go back and forth between console versions but i guess not. Will watch later but would love to see PS4 newest build as well.

Xbox/Microsoft is one of the partners of Twitch Con. Of course they were going to show the game on Xbox One and of course they were giving away especially designed Xbox Ones to the Twitch streamers and the Twitch boss guy.

There is only one true villain:

RIP Lord Ravus-sama hooded sorcerer mode

I have no evidence to back this up, but I get the feeling he would have been a key villain in Versus, but in XV I fully expect Ravus to appear in a handful of cutscenes and then take a bow out of the game.

For starters they removed the mystery aspect by getting rid of his hood and secondly he doesn't appear to use magic anymore like he demonstrated in the Versus trailers.

it is very improved indeed but I dont think it is close to that 2014 footage. The lighting is way worse imo.

The lighting definitely seems weaker, although the Ring Trailer footage, looks even better in parts to me, mainly due to being more cohesive and complete. 2014 was a better foundation, but also very rough with poor IQ and AA.

We don't know if he would've been unhooded(is that even a word?) later on if Versus was still a thing.

In Pro
PC/PS5
we trust!

Hoping there will be some upgrades. Their engine clearly scales to higher specs (hell operates much better on better specs), so it shouldn't be too much effort to do some tweaks surely? At the least it should look as good as that Ring Magic Trailer, with less aliasing...

This is obviously subjective, but the game world just looks so uninteresting. I have no desire at all to explore any of those big fields/deserts.

People debating Ravus importance to the story are right to be dobtful, but it's either him or Ardyn no doubt about it, simply because Tabata has stated multiple times they wanted this game's villain to equal or surpass Sephirot/Kuja and all of those in term of popularity/success, and those are the only two with a design that pops up enough. Now, one is more "flamboyant" and catches the eye more (especially because he's been given a lot of screen time recently), but he's been designed by the guy who only drew secondary characters (Ferrari).
But Ravus? Up until now he seems like anime-Viserys Targaryen this could be more fault of Kingsglaive writing, but i actually liked him because opposed to the GoT character all of that has only been the fundation stones for his developement. But if he's been drawn by Nomura (and maybe later redesigned by either Ferrari or Naora, like Older Noctis), of which he certainly has the typical facial traits and clothing style, i think he has a much higher chance of being the main villain, simply because as said earlier, if Tabata wanted to go for a mainstream villain, he'd go with something conceived by Nomura himself.

I hope we a get an epic, 15 minute-long battle theme for the final boss.

C'mon dude it's Yoko Fucking Shimomura we're talking about, on her first FF attempt, i'm sure she'll give us another masterpiece.
That said, i hope the final boss itself is gonna meet the expectations...

I like the way fields are spread open, to me it's way more appealing than something generic looking like The Witcher 3, it has that Japanese touch I guess.

Yeah the areas they have shown so far are dull and uninteresting to me, SE is being very tight lipped about everything after Altissia which is still early in the game i think...so im looking forward to the midgame train stuff.

Come on now... I dont get the need to "bash" W3 when people speak about FFXV world...

W3 certainly does not deserve to be called "generic" in its world design... i mean wth guys! What do you mean by generic anyways? W3's world is perfect for what it is trying to depict according to the universe it is set in.

Also it has a lot of different and varied locations.

I can understand someone liking FFXV more than W3, but I believe it is a tad too much to call the competition "generic". Besides, W3 has proven itself in many ways. Time will tell if FFXV will do the same.

Yeah I wonder if FFXV will even half as much environmental storytelling in the whole game as TW3 had in just White Orchard.

lol at "Japanese touch"

I find the desert area very bland and uninspired. They could have done so much more with this since even the real world has some amazing sights in deserts.

The Duscae region with the crystal shard, the strange mountain peak overlooking Cleigne or the rock formation in Galdin Quay however are pretty fantastical and inspired.

I'm sure we will see more of that fantastical stuff making the landscape more interesting. It is supposed to get more fantastical as we progress in the game. At one point rocks even learn to float. ;)

So, they finally showed Ring magic?! So, I'm guessing there will be multiple rings with different spells?

Also, found it funny the guys were struggling against Bandersnatch even though they were twice the level. Level 99 quests are going to be fun! :P

Where is your evidence for this? The leaps seen here are almost impossible. Massively increased IQ with stable FPS in a month?

If you believe this then I have a bridge to sell you.

Seriously? The button prompts should be a dead giveaway. Their PC builds always use generic button prompts rather than the standard PS4 / XB1 prompts.

Check the Ring magic footage again.

Well at least I'm not the only one thinking this is too good to be true. I hope this was stealth announcement for PC version. But until then I guess I gotta believe my ps4 can do this in an open world game

Yeah uh, how do you protect your party from aoe spells?

You can add potions to the mix to make it heal your party instead of damage them.

Hard to say, they're so hush-hush about the story it's really hard to even tell the direction it will go.

Even disregarding Versus, I'm still hoping for something sad and emotional and not just solely about road tripping with your friends.

I hope Luna becomes important and I hope Ardyn is just a red herring to the true villain.

I mean, only the game will tell if it's sad and emotional, but it's most definitely not just about roadtripping with your friends, the trailers we have make it very clear. Especially the Jump Festa trailer, the Dawn teaser, the Uncovered trailer and the TGS 16 trailer.

It wouldn't make any sense to set up the whole Reclaim Your Throne storyline, as well as the Plague of the Stars bigger picture if it's a game about having fun with your friends and nothing else.

i would be surprised if anything from the Jump trailer makes it in to the final game.

Why?

Not to mention, how is it fair to disregard a trailer with "I'd be surprised if it's in the game, so I'm still concerned about the tone" when your point of comparison is a scene we know for sure it's gone, in a game that no longer exists?

Come on. That's borderline concern trolling.

it doesn't look like they really want you to initiate air combos with the jump.

Don't tell me what to do, Taba-chan

This may have been already known and discussed, but from impressions from Pax, it seems that there actually ARE more story scenes between chapter 0 and chapter 1 that weren't shown in the 53 minute gameplay footage from Gamescom.

It is, but it's only one CGI cutscene between Regis and Noctis.

Can someone explain magic in this game to me. From what I've seen, it looks like some magic items are like grenades and at other times from a ring?

is there going to be a magic skill tree?

The grenade magic is craftable, you gather it from magic points in the map, and you can combine the elements and other items for different results. They're usable items and don't spend MP.

Then you have Ring Magic, which is unique to the King of Lucis and is more like the regular magic we're used to, it uses MP.
