Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

If the game immerses you well enough then yeah you will play along. But in VR the immersion breaks easier, if you are not buying it or the game is boring you will just fuck around, same as in any interactive scene in games.

It's a real challenge for developers to keep people immersed since every second of a VR story is interactive unlike in traditional games where you have cut-scenes.

These are early games and demos and the devs will make mistakes. The bar for game stories will have to be higher for VR.

Yeah, but sometimes you've probably gotta except a cutscene is a cutscene, at least for now, even in VR.

In the end these guys are trying to entertain, this isn't a let's play, they don't have to follow the rules of the game. If he feels bored with the game I would imagine he feels the viewers are as well (and trust me I at least was), he made the right choice

I'm not complaining about fucking around with VR games, everyone will do that and yeah they should be doing these things on stream too keep the audience entertained.

What I think is wrong is approaching the fucking around thing seriously, with things like "wow I can't set things on fire, this is bad!". At one point Jeff was just pointing out ridiculous stuff just for the sake of it, complaining and snorting.

I just think people should lower their expectations, anyway.
The fact that you have a more direct input in games does not equal to a massive leap forward in game technology and interactivity. You probably will not be able to pick up every single maggot from the dining table in RE7 or choke the bad guy at the beginning of the game just because you have hands, and that's fine.

I canceled my PS VR bundle yesterday just because I would rather hear that it's a must have thing. I didn't want to get it and eventually stop using it like my Samsung gear vr (which is useless now that I have a note 7). If I hear some really good things I'll pick a ps vr maybe next year.

If an interactive game gives you a lighter, it's a reasonable expectation that things can be set on fire. If not.... That's a negative and a faster route to an immersion breaker.

I need Summer Lesson coverage on GB or else I will unsubscribe and also insult them in future in every thread where they don't like something I have decided to like.

Man, all of three VR streams this year have been surprisingly not that entertaining imo. What a bummer. At least VRodeo continues to be fine hopefully.

I hope they get new headsets for next week's stream. Then we'd know if their headsets are faulty or it's a PSVR issue.
I can't imagine Sony being happy with coverage like this from a major site, so hopefully they will do everything they can to make sure the next GB stream gives a better impression of PSVR.

WHY WOULD YOU PLAY A GAME LIKE THIS IN VR

If this was a hologram it would be interesting but not like this.

Did you also expect to bring down locked doors with missiles in metal gear solid when you first got the nikita?

See, that's what I'm talking about. You have a more direct input in the game (motion controls) and a more enveloping point of view (VR headsets), but the tech behind games is exactly the same, and you should expect the same degree of interactivity as with regular games (for now, at least).

You won't be able to saw a tree, provided you find a pocket knife and stick with it long enough.

VR games are, more than anything, games, and have to work like games first of all.

Oculus was fun since it was the first and the big release. But in spite of the fact that there just isn't much VR coverage a little bit of fatigue has set in. I guess most of these games aren't deep enough to warrant a 20 minute presentation. It just ends up getting dull.

People are expecting more interactivity in VR. Otherwise what's the point of buying into it.
