Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

The improvement is amazing. Only thing I would wish for is the image not to be as soft as it is. I get it that it is their AA solution but, still it softens the image a lot.

I thought they went away from the soft image (Episode Duscae) to a more sharp image (Platinum Demo). If they went back to a soft/blurrier image I personally would be glad though. Looked imo nicer:

I love how they're talk about bombs. The amount of dialog lines in this game must be like Witcher level.

Wait, did I miss something? I heard them saying generic stuff about "that daemon" but did they specifically mention the bombs?

Under. thinking high of 86 low of 81.

90's are harder and harder to come by.

You taking the bet then? Because, like I said, I see all kinds of people making this claim, but no one has bit on the bet yet. I'm feeling pretty confident.

You can even set the terms. If they're reasonable, let's do it.

Another gameplay video. Bombs are apparently in the 44ish minute range, but I'm at work. So I'm watching the whole thing instead of working. I'll get to the bombs, lol

Such a fun video to watch, specially when the players get annoyed at Ignis for being a partypooper for not wanting to drive at night....then they get crushed on the highway :)

She's a good player tho, she got an A in Defense vs the Bombs, I've seen most players always score D on defense lol

I feel like the Eurogamer video is better than Polygon's. It captures the freedom of this game a lot better :)

Platinum demo certainly doesnt have sharp image. Dont know if Duscae was even blurier (never played it), but PD was very rough.

edit: fix'd

My worries are gone... this game looks fantastic. The FF fan in me is excited right now!

Edit: The blizzard left the characters all slightly "frozen"... it would be cool if you do extra damage to fire enemies for a little while, as an elemental buff...

Sounds good. I'll bookmark it!

so if its over 90 you choose the avatar for me, and if it's under 90 i choose the avatar for you, and if it's 90 then we both shrug our shoulders and move on?

also Metacritic score after the game has been out for a week or a month? scores can fluctuate in the first couple days so i want to make sure theres as little wiggle room as possible.

I was just think about about all those same things, lol.

I'd say after 1 month for a stable score, and 90 is a push.

The cleanup of all the hair looks to be worth the delay alone... the original images are so distracting!

But were those original images with or without the previous day-1 patch intended for original release date?

Different cars in background too?

That's probably dynamic

Weird graphical issues on that one.

Its the technique used for reflections. the reflections are based on what is visible on screen, and since the arms get in the way, you get points of no reflection.

Its not exactly a glitch, more like a side effect of the technique. don't expect that to go away no matter the polish.

Huh. Well, hopefully they avoided situations where that pops up. Definitely not a good look.

"Since the arms get in the way?"

They're like 50 feet from the water and the reflections extend well beyond the water, there's something else going on there.

The reflections are post-processing effects based on the image actually drawn on the screen. That's why you have the parts on the sides with them missing, and in this case, anywhere it would have re-drawn the character models, it blanks it out. They do the same thing in FFXIV, too.

Edit: Didn't realize Mailbox was on it.

in a perfect world ray-tracing would be attainable easily and wouldn't cost so much processing power to implement.

Look again. all corresponding issues with reflection are areas that are blocked by the character bodies. i said arms, but its basically anything blocking the building and spaces that are to be reflected.

"something else" isn't going on.

its also the reason that reflections aren't on the outer right and left of the screen too.

After watching the whole 45 minutes i'm feeling way better now about this game. Sure it still has its problems but overall it's looking really good.

And man the music is just amazing. Shimomura <3

This track for example:

can't wait to hear the full song. If i was the guy playing i would have stood still and listened to it for a while.

It doesn't matter how far away the characters are. Screenspace reflections reflect whats visible on the screen and the arms hide a part of that, so there holes in the reflection. There's nothing that can really be done about that. If you look for it you can see this in a lot of games.

You will feel so ashamed of your words and deeds.
Cindy's boobs are actually solar batteries, and every day she goes home to the orphanage that she runs and replenishes the little children's life force with the energy she gathered from her day of busty mechanic-ing.

A shame the music takes a while to start again, would of thought it will resume from where it left off.

Pretty drastic lighting and texture change:
(Open both images in a new browser tab and click back and forth for the best comparison.)

Also better antialiasing on Noctis' hair. :)

Her reflection on the hood is better in the old shot

The Euro gamer game-play give me faith in this game, it look really good, the mine section with not overpower party was really cool to watch.

That's unfortunate.

I've also been there from the beginning. I played the original game on the NES and became a hardcore series fan starting from IV on the NES, and I've played them all.

However, Final Fantasy XV is right up my alley. This game looks more "Final Fantasy" than the last two mainline, non-online entries in the series. The classic Amano designs, the presence of the Prelude, the Summons, the big world to explore (But this time in almost 1:1 scale!)...

I love all the games, but FFXV seems more like a classic Final Fantasy, even more than X, XII and XIII in my honest opinion.

This game has a charm that I didn't find in either XII or XIII (Great games, but they tried to take themselves too seriously).

Too bad this is not the Final Fantasy you want, which is weird, because besides the combat system, this is pure classic Final Fantasy through and through.

Totally Agree,
and I'd like to add that I believe that FFXV is the true vision of a final fantasy title,
after all the ATB system was only created by the limitation of the nes.

Real time combat is where is at, but let's not forget that FFXV even caters to those who prefer to eat a sandwich while playing by incorporating the infamous wait mode.

ATB wasn't introduced till IV on the SNES. Final Fantasy is whatever the hell they want it to be. Half the series plays differently from each other.

On the combat of FFXV, I feel like the people complaining about depth have never played many action based combat games. Now how you feel about the responsiveness or other issues is another thing. You can just mash A or whatever but it won't lead you to "awesome", just as clearing some encounters by just mashing in Bayonetta won't lead you to Pure Platinum. You can already see the difference of how people play based on skill from Polygon footage, the Eurogamer footage, and the Twitchcon stream.

Hmmm screen space reflections are made after rendering from a 2D image, not the 3D scene, maybe that will help understand it better?

If hands are in front of something above water, it can't reflect that something below the water because the data is missing.

Gamespot just posted another 45 min video but it looks like all the same stuff we have seen in the last few videos. Hammerhead, opening quests, bloodhorn battle, etc.

I can't stop laughing when she tries to run from the 2 iron giants.

THIS GAME, GUYS!

The Eurogamer video was absolutely hilarious from 43:00 on. It was perfect! :D Ridiculing Ignis and not listening to him...
"Come on, what can possibly go wrong?"
...them gushing about the soundtrack and then suddenly running into the bombs and getting really cocky until the daemons arrive to completely wreck them. They even had to leave the Regalia behind which they so masterfully fucked up with that horrible paint job before. This was pure comedy gold. XD
