Civilization 6 announced, out October 21st

So it looks like Gorgo was leaked by a Chinese website? Identical to Pericles's Greece with two changes:

Agenda - "With Your Shield Or On It"
Vetoes all peace treaties that are unfavorable to Greece, and likes leaders that do the same. Dislikes any civilization that does the opposite.

UA - Thermopylae
Destroy an enemy military unit and gain 50% of its strength in culture points.

A few other leaked details at CivFanatics if you're interested.

That is a really nice boost in the early game. I expect some barb camp farming strategies assuming it applies to barbs.

As an update to this 2 emails later and they refunded it confirming that anyone who bought the key prior to the region lock info would get the EU key. So if anyone is in the same boat email customer service and they will refund it.

Yeah I took care of it last night. Smooth experience with their customer service, which is comforting.

Has anyone heard a date for the review embargo to let up? Some people on Reddit said Friday but who knows if that's accurate at all.

That's a good call. I haven't tried it in a while (at least a year). Last time I did, it was a bit buggy. Has it gotten better?

I did it with xcom 2 a few months ago and it worked perfectly. Anything turn based works very well compared to things requiring more active inputs.

If someone hasn't pre-ordered yet, GMG seem to be sending out 5% off vouchers (check your emails if you're subscribed), on top of their 20% off discount for signed-in customers, bringing the standard edition to £37.99

There's another one of my civs, for sure.

Have you ordered with them before because if not I can send you a 5℅ voucher

Yeah I've ordered lots of stuff with them before, maybe I unsubscribed to their newsletter. Anyway I googled up and found some 5% off coupons. Thanks for the offer though.

are we thinking each civ will have two leaders or just selected ones? (obviously I'm considering DLC in this question)

I also wonder how modding will work, if someone can create leaders that can slot into an existing civ rather than creating an entire civ based on a particular leader like in V

I'm glad they change Sparta to your capital if you choose her. Also a different map color combo!

Hopefully every Civ gets at least two leaders. Being yet another item they can throw in the DLC packs I imagine they will.

I'd like to see more leader diversity, but EVERY civ? Who do you even go to for, say, Scythia?

From what the preview stated, there's probably another civ with another leader out of the box

also I don't get what the preview vid said - spartan women were far from opressed

Yeah it's probably hard from some. And I wouldn't be mad if they said not every Civ. But it's still something I'd like to see in a perfect world for game play diversity.

Someone at CivFanatics said that Firaxis confirmed both leaders can be in the game at once as separate players. So that's interesting.

We'll get a mix of new civs and new leaders. Very unlikely Scythia gets a new leader, but extremely likely we get a second steppe nomad Civ, because Genghis is going to make it in at some point. On the other hand, I think it's pretty damn likely we get additional leaders for France and China, among others, with the first expansion.

Regarding Gorgo: does her agenda mean that she will not peace out of a war she's losing?

Yeah for some reason I forgot that there would be stores selling a boxed copy that would qualify for GCU or Prime discounts. Thanks!

Yep, for now I have my copy reserved at Amazon for release day delivery for $47. If GMG runs their normal 27% off sale, I'll cancel the amazon order.

How'd you get it for 25% off?

They are running different deals for different regions. Its not onsale in the US yet for their site.

Ah I see, guess I gotta wait.

Seems like it. Or at least not if she has to give concessions. So you either need to eliminate her entirely or prepare to peace out of wars without much in the way of reward. Pretty interesting mechanic to be thrown into a game that could spiral through other nearby Civs a bit.

She just will not take any peace where she loses on the deal.

I don't think "ditto" civs have been an issue at all, since I remember everyone being Venice at one point in my game

Yep, the last few releases saw 27% the day before release. A lot of people were upset because they preorder like 3 months in advance for 22% off, then were not automatically upgraded to 27% off and couldnt cancle and reorder in time.

Also GMG always has active $3 coupons that stack on any order. Use them.

Got it. So in situations where a player is not prepared to fight Gorgo to the bitter end, this would seem to tip the incentive toward razing occupied cities rather than capturing them, since she won't ever agree to concede them in a peace deal.
