Giant Bomb PSVR Launch Day Support Stream | Not what you're looking for

Seems like they still haven't learned how to properly setup for camera-based tracking.

Their colored lights and general room lighting cause areas to be blown out, which interfere with LED light tracking on the headset and controller.

Maybe I should apply for a job there and fix this ish.
The majority of their time with PSVR today has been from a different perspective from that (off camera to the right hand side as you look at the stream).

I really like that you could see Brad slightly looking around in the back.

Also, a solid green background will give you problems as well as the LEDs may stand out, but meld with the BG which has no texture to differentiate from the person. Just a void of solid color (on top of being lit with studio lights).
They've done scores (hundred+?) of Kinect videos on a green screen with no technical issues.

I've been watching on and off. Just pointing out the same problems they incurred last time are still present, even if they have been trying to account for it with some small changes. I've worked with camera-based tracking for years both real-time and offline, so I'm familiar with the advantages and disadvantages. Figured they would be, too.

That's not the same technology as PS4 camera. Kinect uses infra-red time-of-flight tech to create a point cloud that manages z-depth. PS4 camera uses stereoscopic tracking for depth (two angles compare textures / shapes).

Yeah, though it seems to be behaving much better this round overall at least. Good to have visual evidence in that shot though of all the blooming.

Wait a minute, isn't that a giant green screen behind Jeff shown in the PS camera just now?

Didn't one of the sites in a livestream say that a green screen like that is awful for tracking? Like Gameinformer or Gamespot or something last week?

Did they show Loading Human, looks cool from the box anyway....

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing this too, I'm pretty interested in playing it.

Definitely. I recognize they did some minor changes, but seems they still aren't aware of how to deal with this technology. I can almost guarantee it's why Jeff is having problems at home but claiming it shouldn't be having problems.

They don't want to encounter issues! Even at home before last week's stream they had similar issues at home.

Ultimately, the tech and product has to work in a wide range of environments. Not being able to cope with various types of clothing seems like a flaw in the product to me from a consumer standpoint. As far as I'm aware, none of the main three VR headsets come with a dress code...!

Ah. I thought you meant the LED blending into the background, rather than the detector itself.

So they didnt show it...its an adventure game or novel type game ,like Steins Gate...?

Well, it's not like a laser-tracking system on Vive lol. It's a much more consumer-friendly / mass market price point. The clothing is not the issue, as most people also won't be in a very brightly lit studio environment like GiantBomb's.

My point was simply that they don't seem to realize the limitations or requirements for this tech (though there are FAQs on PS Blog and info that comes with the PSVR itself) and thus are encountering problems and unsure why. I'm sure if they knew, they'd fix it to avoid further tracking issues for themselves (and their stomachs).
