lol, you hope, but I was walking around outside today looking at stuff like I had a headset on. It's like the next gen version of playing Goldeneye, then going down town to the shops while trying to dodge security cameras.
There is...for Rift. Its called Luckys Tale. Great game, but got a lot of hate for being a 3rd person platform game in VR. People called it a VR gimmick. An unoriginal Mario clone. Its fun, plays well, and VR worked well in that game. Just as it works well in Playroom. Playroom camera is a little less polished than Luckys though. Bring it on Sony! Dont be afraid.
Oh yeah, Lucky's Tale is one of my favorite VR games still. The Adventure Time game is also pretty good, though very short.
I do think the VR Playroom demo shows a ton of promise, though, as it features some unique mechanics and ideas that you don't see in Lucky's Tale (bringing the controller itself into the mix).
I hope to see more games like this, though. 3D platformers are awesome in VR.
I tried the Rush of Blood demo and lasted about 15 seconds when these creepy things started reaching toward me and I was shooting wildly and apparently couldn't hit them. I freaked out and lifted up my headset from my face. The sense of their presence was really convincing.
The I'm gonna try it again later. I think I want to try some more of this stuff with people around. Even mildly scary things are horrifying in VR and can probably lead to some good reactions.
From what I saw, I think the Kitchen demo has lots of potential to be expanded for first time viewers (be it friends, family, girlfriend/boyfriend, etc..), while the knowledgeable PSVR owner is the curator of that perfect experience.
Basically, before placing a headset, one should handcuff a person (you can get those pretty cheaply for a dollar or two), just to get that feeling what the game is about and drive home the overall idea of being handcuffed. It builds anticipation and further enhances the experience. So you start the game and let it go on for the player, but when the girl stabs the player in the leg. The person outside PSVR should sync a hit with a pointy object on the leg. There will probably be some wtf moments, you apologize laugh, hug, promise never to do it again, that it was one time onlys, etc.. and continue on But when the hands come out from the back and touch the players face, the person outside also does the same. His/her hands should maybe also be watered a bit just to enhance the slimy experience.
Thats the real haptic VR. Cant wait to get one and replicate these and further ideas on people.
Just got off the phone with Sony. Thankfully it is not the headset but a faulty cable. Cable #4 in fact, mines is fucked. That's the all important extension you need in order to not have to sit 3 inches in front of the tv.
Sony rep was very helpful. Asked how long it'll take to for me to receive my cable, was told 5-10 business days. UnFUCKINGaccetable. Asked if I could pay for overnight shipping. Was told nope.
How to properly turn off Vr ?
If I simple click led on the box is still wait even after I put rest mode
If I stay 5s on the button it will turn red (the box ) but since PS4 is connected on it i don't have any picture on the tv
Holy shit, The Brookhaven Experiment is the Move killer app. It's so much fun!!! I literally just screamed twice in the span of 5 minutes when a zombie ambushed me from behind.
Man, anyone else getting major distortion when moving their head around? like objects, and environments are warping slightly as I move my head.
I've noticed this very slightly on my Vive, but it's bugging me the hell out on PSVR, maybe IPD related? Anything that can be done about it? I think it's even making me a bit sick while playing, recall playing BattleZoneVR at EGX last year, and I didn't feel ill at all, and just 5 minutes now and I was feeling I had to stop. (Or I'm just really, really hungry right now).
Loving this thing so far. Favs are superhypercube and Thumper (as expected) but I haven't played half the stuff I want to.
Was kinda hoping Driveclub VR would let me continue the progress from the main game...I guess it's more different than I realized. I totally failed the first race other than one faceoff. I'll go back to it later. Feeling of presense was still there, but realistic games definitely take more of a hit than surreal stuff (fortunately I prefer surreal/cartoon anyway).
Anyone know how to get past the "warts" part of the frog room in the Gnog demo?
Also I found one of my HDMI cables was faulty (not an included one), little staticy dots all over the image. So glad it was that, not the headset

I am deathly afraid of it. I found turning off the lights to make the room very dark and then bringing out the visor a bit eased my fears without breaking immersion.
I haven't used occulus or Vive. But from my experience last night I would describe it as sub HD or Vaseline like. What also weiried is when both vive and occulus was released is all the complaints about lense and screen quality. Yet most no one except the people that that have all three are complaining about PSvR. I guess you guys would be the ones to know.
screen (resolution aside) and lenses are objectively better in PSVR, thanks to sub-pixels and solid lenses. No godrays, screen (resolution aside) is definitely clearer, etc. but as you can see in my post, Vive and OR have noticeably better resolutions.
the best of all tech right now would be the OR/Vive resolution in the PS VR gear.

It's not exactly the same game due to the lack of 360 coverage in PSVR, but you can find impressions in the Vive launch thread if you're really interested. You'd have to look pretty far back though as it has has been largely overshadowed by other newer games. Also lots of videos on Youtube.

Does your headset turn off after few a few seconds? That's what happens with mine when connected through cable #4. I too called Playstation support (Germany) earlier and got the same info as you did.

It doesn't actually. It stays on just no feed to the headwet. And when I boot up a VR game just the white ring of lights. I'll just have to sit close to the TV and have my PS4 Camera closer in order to enjoy it.
No interest but you've made 10 threads related to PSVR this month alone 🤔
Anyway, I'm itching to play with my headset. Less than two weeks to go before I can.
I really hope rigs doesn't make me sick. But if the demo does I'm returning my copy. I definitely want job simulator, super hyper cube, thumper and rez
Anybody else experiencing weird "residual VR after effects" after prolonged VR sessions?
I'm noticing that my eyes feel a little bit "off," as if they're not quite focusing on things the same way they did before a one hour or more VR session. I'm also getting a weird sensation of "detachment" from the world, as if I'm not quite all there. It's nothing that's actually impacting my ability to work or do things in the real world, but at the same time, it makes the real world feel less real, if that makes any sense.
I was reading through the PS VR safety manual, and Sony try to suggest that dead/stuck pixels are normal lol. They are probably sick of replacing those Vita's with stuck pixels. It's page 6/7.
Black (dark) pixels and continuously lit pixels may appear in certain locations on the screen. The appearance of such spots is a normal occurrence associated with screens and is not a sign of a system malfunction. Screens are made using highly precise technology. However, a very small number of dark pixels or continuously lit pixels may exist and color irregularities or brightness irregularities may be visible on each screen.

This is me too! I have an S7 and gearVR. It's cool, but not having a controller and the SDE was a little too much for me to enjoy it.
Using PSVR for about 3 hours last night and was BLOWN AWAY! Even the Headliner soccer prison demo was funny and almost. The comedy is similar to Portal.

i definitely feel eye strain, even the next day. i played all of the content in the demo disk in three sittings from 4 to 11. you can turn down the brightness of the screen. i did. not sure how much that helps.

Try to bring the visor closer. You really need to tilt, nudge, swivel the headset BY THE HALO (not visor) until you find the right spot. Takes a few seconds but just adjust it slightly.
It's hard not to look with your eyes when turning your head. It won't go away completely but it will remain in your periphery.
I snug that shit on my eyeballs, lol. I need to bring mine one notch out otherwise I fog the lenses and my eyebrows get all slick.
Anyone tried any non porn 360/VR videos through the media player? I wanted to try it out just to see the stereoscopic effect from captured footage, but don't know where to look to find any samples.
Yup. The number 1 VR rule in our house is the asshole rule, otherwise known as "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ANYONE IN VR". My wife and I are both jokesters but we made a pact 2 years ago and we stand by it. I know it's tempting but listen to Bryson Tiller and don't.
