Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

I also have a feeling that up until Tabata took over, she mostly was just doing one off songs for marketing purposes. It's not uncommon for music to be some of the last assets to come together in game development. So apart from Somnus there may not be that much that's been held back.

I would be greatly surprised if the lion's share of the music hadn't been written in the last year or two.

I wholeheartedly endorse using One Punch Man gifs, but this one is not the most communicative, wouldn't you agree? :P

lol garula got his 2 seconds

edit: Gonna have to disagree - some of the play there was frustratingly bad to watch.

They had to cover every enemy, and some of them don't have good players. Like the bandersnatch, which they spent way too long on. But, there's still a ton of good stuff in between.

Just off top of head, the crabs at the beach and wasp things definitely had better players at the controls at one point or another.

It's a cool vid for showcasing the bestiary (and holy hell there's quite a lot!), but I don't think it quite sells the game as far as combat goes.

Wait till the game's out, and you'll 100% get people like this putting videos together.

Isn't the one with the wasps the same player?

That totally makes me want to finish LR. It took a while to get ysed to that one, but it had some fun combat. That video reminds me that I'm not as good as I thought I was at it.

Specifically, the beach crabs was from EGX Playstation Access footage, and the wasps was from the TwitchCon stream.

Eurogamer's recent preview spent far less time getting knocked over on the former, and the more recent Barcelona Games World presentation had someone actually fighting the latter without unsuccessfully using magic for half a minute.

But again, I'm being pedantic and the video really seems to aim at showing a bestiary, not particularly focused on impressive combat. That was my original contention.

To be even more specific, I'm not knocking the people playing either. It's hard to concentrate on actually playing the game while also having a conversation with co-hosts and entertaining an audience.

I believe there was some footage of that area with a better player, but it was off screen footage.

There definitely was a fight with the crabs that looked better though. The one where Gladio launches Noctis up. But, it's all good to me. It's been a slow news week.

Does the battle theme in the starting region sound better to anyone else? The Woodwind instruments seems to be a lot more prominent in the new version.

The girl from Eurogamer by far showed off the combat best to me. Actually switched weapons(except didn't use the broadsword once lol), great use of magic, blind strikes and link strikes executed well. Love it

Totally agree. That Eurogamer preview is, IMO, the best representation we've seen so far. She played well.

Random thought:you guys think that set piece in Altissia is gone completely?

I mean, we know some sort of water-tornado tunnel is going on (as seen when Ardyn slaps Luna) and we see the prompto and noct narrowly escape the leviathan's jaws using Nifihim tech.

so I guess in some form or another it is, but it probably isn't the same way we expect it to either

Yea that's true m can't wait to find out

I already can see the thread about the game going gold. I bet people will list all the relevant facts that happened in the world since the game was announced.

Final Fantasy XV |OT| Its been 84 years...

or alternatively:

Final Fantasy XV |OT| I went through grade school, college, 3 jobs, a house, a marriage, and 2 kids just to play this game

though I haven't done most of those :/

Since this was announced I have:

- gone through highschool
- gone through college
- worked at mc Donald's, to blockbuster, to a supermarket, to a qa tester, to a marketing and PR assistant for video games
- had several relationships

When I put it like that ... wow! Aha. Come on November!!

Since the original announcement I....

Turned 13
Entered middle school
Got a PS3 for Versus and FFVII Remake (...)
Passed through high school (ugh....)
Got a job at Bed Bath and Beyond and Toys R Us
Started college
Have had two more siblings join the family
Went off on a two year service
Turned 22
Returned home and began working at Cinemark (hahaha) and at my college
Tried to get into NeoGAF
Resumed college
Finally got into NeoGAF

Wow a lot has passed. Now it's so close...

Yes and no.

As of the preview builds where they showed it, you could only have one Hunt, a specific subset of mission, active at one time.

But the quest selection screen (that shows the toggle-able quest indicators, etc) lists multiple active quests/sidequests at once, including that one-at-a-time Hunt.

Interesting that Ray Chase said when we first joined XV Noctis was 30.

Sometime after they decided to change his age to 20 and he had to re-audition.

Wonder if this is just another Nomura to Tabata transition story element that disappeared.

Yeah, was wondering too when I heard that. Nomura always said Noct would be in his 20's though. Maybe they began casting Ray for scenes with Old Noctis from after the time skip, but SE didn't communicate well enough with the voice director that the Episode Duscae Noctis is still in his 20's and left him thinking that Noct is 30-ish in the whole game? :D

I wonder how many of them are holdovers from Versus.

There seems to be quite a few of these monsters that appeared in really old footage/images(and recently revealed really old images).

Cockatrice and Zolom were both in the recently revealed old shots of XV.

Some that I suspect being old:

- giant toad
- cthulu wizard guy
- griffin

I'm sure all of them have been touched up a lot in the texture/material/ai/animation department regardless of when they were conceptualized.

The missing enemy designs I can see are.... the small Dino creatures, flying imps, mecha Behemoth (Versus 2011) and the mammoth sized Iron Giant (FFXV 2013).

I really hope the Mecha Behemoth and Boss type Iron Giant make it in to the final game! Tabata please.

No way, makes no sense for his design. Especially for japanese devs and their bizarre notion of aging. Remember that Auron is 35.
