I'm hoping that's what the gimmick is, it would hopefully dull down some of the negative connotation when a game (from say, a Japanese third party) is inevitably going to be announced for both it and another ecosystem like PS4 or PC and people inevitably bitch about the handheld holding the console version back (which is something not infrequently seen when a Vita/PS4 game is announced) when likely it's the budget more then anything else that does that. Hopefully the system being somewhat beefy on its own terms mitigates that somewhat, so power wouldn't be an easy target for people looking to pick a fight about a game being released multiplatform.
It's not the power that gets me, seeing nintendo ditch the exotic software development or architecture they tend to use for good will be a god send for smaller developers who see the value in this system.

Obviously the dev kit for the dock is going to look clunkier because of added ports and whatnot, but I'll reserve judgement for tomorrow's reveal.
There is when NIntendo says they aren't chasing power and have said that for 10-15 years now.

There are so many variants to what "chasing power" could mean that it's kind of pointless. That's what I mean. You could think "not very powerful" is 75% of the PS4, or you could think it was the Vita.

Maybe the selling point is that the system comes with the dev kit so you can develop your own games.

I cant belive were going to know in only nine hours! It really feels like the end of a crazy, turbulent, speculative era on gaf. Personally, i hope we get even a sizzle reel that has some teases of mario, zelda, and pikmin. The nx titles we know are in development.

A developer (I think) piped up and said he'd seen similar shots of nintendo kits in advertising materials aimed at devs. So apparently it's not that odd. This would be a shot from a flyer or something.
