Wii launched with a new Zelda and Wii sports. Launch window might not have been as good (honestly don't remember) but launch was very good.I think that we will be pleasantly surprised by the launch output for the Switch. The Wii and Wii U launches were so abysmal, Nintendo must know they need to come out strong for what is basically their company reboot.
I mean, it's been 3 years since 3D World, so it is not a stretch to think that the new mario will be a launch game. That right there would solidify the switch as a Day 1 purchase for many.
Well I mean just in terms of games, it was bad. It was definitely propped up by the central gimmick and wii sports, but I think it was still universally considered a mediocre launch lineup.
i think it was considered to be generally okay. twilight princess had rave reviews and wii sports was a good showcase of the platform's potential. excite truck is also literally the best game of all-time, rounding out all of nintendo's offerings, and then there were third-party games that helped bolster it like rayman raving rabbids, metal slug anthology, and super monkey ball 3. at least, those were the six i got right away. then there was considerable downtime between launch and metroid prime 3, including minigame compilations and super paper mario.
That's definitely not what you should be expecting. Pikmin 4 and Pokemon Sun / Moon are forum rumors more than anything. You should be expecting something from the Nintendo Land / Wii Play team though.
It's time to accept that Retro is the DKC dev going forward. They won't work on anything else until the series stops selling.
Which also means that Nintendo still doesn't care about appealing to western gamers. sigh

DKCTF took 3 years to make and struggled to sell 1 million after like 2 years. It's time to accept that Retro is the DKC dev going forward. They won't work on anything else until the series stops selling.

I used Nintendo's previous two Nintendo Direct presentations for 3DS and Wii U launch and discuss potential launch dates for Switch in March. If anyone wants to listen: Link.

It's Malo. Don't take him serious. He can be such a pessimistic person lolWhat a dumb, presumptuous, and factually incorrect thing to say.
Wii launch was good to me. I remember I've bought Red Steel at dayone and I was impressed by the possibility of the Wiimote, also had a lot of fun playing it. Wii Sports was also incredible for that time and was included. Finished that, I've bought Zelda and Excite Trucks, both awesome games.
Yes, I hope Switch launch will be at least at this level and if Zelda BOTW is a launch game (pretty sure it will be), I'l be happy.

I think Mario Kart is pretty imperative at launch, unless there's another big multiplayer game. They've got to sell that straight-out-of-the-box multiplayer aspect of the system.i think zelda might be holiday 2017. the wii u version would obviously be a small release, which might be their only concern, but they could just make it a 'switch game' by delaying it further into the year.
or they could release it in the summer: hit with mario, splatoon, and a new ip at launch, and save zelda, pikmin 4, and smash bros. for the immediate months afterwards. mario kart seems like it would be a holiday title, but three years is enough to develop and complete it for launch or launch window as well.
He's no stranger to that, as he was 100% convinced the NX wouldn't be a hybrid

And I think Zelda's gotta be there as well, just based on how long it's been in development, and how much it helped sell the Wii for more seasoned gamers, for instance.
Pretty sure Malo was big Hybrid guy.

You also had stuff like DBZ Tenkaichi 2 showing that you could take games that existed on other consoles and improve upon them with motion controls.i think it was considered to be generally okay. twilight princess had rave reviews and wii sports was a good showcase of the platform's potential. excite truck is also literally the best game of all-time, rounding out all of nintendo's offerings, and then there were third-party games that helped bolster it like rayman raving rabbids, metal slug anthology, and super monkey ball 3. at least, those were the six i got right away. then there was considerable downtime between launch and metroid prime 3, including minigame compilations and super paper mario.

I think most people didn't think it was going to be a hybrid. He didn't seem to be when he was arguing with me about it a couple of months before the Eurogamer leak
So a couple more months of ridiculous rumors? Awesome!
I think most people didn't think it was going to be a hybrid.
I didn't until the EG leak.
SMD64's leak didn't help despite him clearly reading too much into the information he got like he kept doing for months

No way, Zelda has to be a launch game. I think the only reason it was even delayed was to move it to the Switch's launch date.
How is supermetaldave these days? And I havent seen 10k either

-Zelda: Breath of the Wild
-3D Mario
-Mario Kart 1.5
-Splatoon 1.5
-Super Smash Bros + DLC
-Super Mario Maker
-Pikmin 4
-Retro Game (It's been a long time since Tropical Freeze)
-Pokken + DLC
-Pokemon Sun & Moon Port
What's even more crazy is the fact this lineup is expected and not far fetched at all, considering the information we have until the moment.
Actually checked his twitter a few hours ago and he ate some crow, but is still incredibly critical of the Switch.

10k's fine. He was never had sources to begin with besides other insiders like Supermetaldave. He was back and forth between thinking Ninty was using an Nvidia chip while SMD kept telling him it was AMD.
Supermetaldave still thinks Nintendo is going to make a super powerful x86 console like the PS4. Poor soul.
I just checked too...and oh god, he's taken something horribly out of context

I really hope he doesn't cling to his "Switch is an accessory" theory, otherwise he's going to be let down once again...

We got a 2D Mario last year and Super Mario Run/Mario Maker 3DS later this year. Don't think we need a new one for awhile.this is also what I'm expecting at the absolute minimum. tons of Wii U/3DS ports.
wouldn't be surprised if we saw a new 2D Mario or animal crossing, either. it's about time we got a new one of each.
also probably gonna get some outta nowhere third party games. I'm thinking an exclusive Platinum game, one or two games where third parties use Nintendo properties (think Hyrule Warriors or SMTxFE), and maybe a Square game.
