Things Not addressed in the Switch 2 presentation?

It seems we'll have traditional carts as well as these and it will be a publisher option to decide which to use.
Well, I can only hope that publishers will choose traditional carts, but I can imagine a world where that will be the minority.

How much RAM does it have? Is it 12GB that's been speculated about?

Is the internal storage upgradeable? Is it a Nvme M.2 SSD or something else?

Is old controllers and peripheral compatible? I have an 8bit do Ultimate that I love so if it isn't compatible it sucks (since it was also quite expensive). SD cards wasn't compatible which is a bummer.

It comes down to the size of the game, the size traditional carts can be and the cost of the various cart sizes, and the nature of the game. Like my edit says, something like SF6 makes perfect sense on the new system. I do think most publishers are going to opt for the new carts due to cost, sadly.

the key cart just replaces the code in the box. Quite a few examples from big games to indie games and in between.

We need confirmation that the Switch 1 Pro controller will work with Switch 2 even if it’s only compatible with Switch 1 games. I assume it will because Switch 1 Joycons will work with it but we still need confirmation.
It is. It’s on the Japanese switch 2 site.

The assumption is that it is transferrable which has tremendous advantages over a code in a box.
Yep. But also a negative in that you need a cart. But I guess anyone buying a box in the first place expect a cart. Maybe why they did it.

Is dlss confirmed to be used in switch 2 games? Also, is it dlss4. Come on Ninty.

James Dean Breaking Up GIF by The Room

No mention of it on the site. The interesting thing is that this seems to be HDMI 2.0 and not 2.1 since it won't be able to output 4K at 120hz, but instead topping out at 1440p 120hz while docked.

Output via HDMI connector in TV mode
Maximum of 3840x2160 (4K) resolution at 60 fps (TV mode)
Supports 120 fps when 1920x1080/2560x1440 resolutions are selected
Supports HDR10
*Maximum 1920x1080 resolution in tabletop mode and handheld mode, following screen resolution.

80 dollars for games that have ps4 graphics. 450 dollars for a console that barely matches a base ps4 loll. They're charging more for this console than a series s, and ps5 digital and those consoles blow this system out of the water in terms of tech and features lolll.

There was no Mario game, which was surprising. But I supposed that’s what DK was for.

I don’t know why anyone’s expecting them to talk about DLSS. It’s not Nintendo’s MO to talk about software tech, especially someone else’s. But I’d bet it’s being used to get Prime 4 from 60+ to 120.

I don't really see that as a negative. The real negative is the reliance on the Nintendo Digital Store being always available. Game preservation takes a hit with this new system.

DLSS and Hall effect sticks are what I’m curious about.

IMO they went surprisingly technical highlighting HDR, 120hz, 4K etc. But not a single mention of upscaling features or fixed JoyCon drift. Which makes me think it’s maybe not utilized..? That’d be a crazy decision imo, at least regarding DLSS.

To be fair, I often have to pay for upgrades for PS4 games too. Like IIRC I paid 10 bucks to upgrade Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy.

In fact, didn't I pay 10 bucks to upgrade many PS4 games to PS5?

Is the Day's Gone upgrade going to be free?

Why the double standard?

Mine is the Pre-order situation, I'll likely get an invite on the 8th as I more than meet the criteria, but am I having to pay £429 with like 4 days notice? Thats pretty scummy tbh a few days into a month

It's a negative compared to the code in the box. The advantage of the code in the box was the same as for a digital game. No messing with carts. So anyone that liked that aspect of the code in the box will see that go away ie be a negative for them.

Not sure the reliance on the Nintendo store ...differs with the key cart and the code in the box...does it?

Have you guys noticed the screen bezel is larger than the Switch Oled? ... almost as big as OG Switch. I can almost smell the inevitable thinner bezel Oled upgrade in 2029.

Edit: will the joycon wireless signal to console be stronger this time? Currently, a leaf of one of my plant can cut the signal if between my joycon and console..

That's not good. It's 2025 ffs!
Agreed, really weird decision.

But hey, at least we get built in back-buttons on the new Pro controller.

The Switch 2 GC controller will have analog at least, so I guess you could get that one. But I doubt many devs will support the use of them since the feature will only be on the GC controller.

2. 4K doesn't inherently make games larger, that's just a rendering resolution. Now, that typically goes together with higher resolution textures and more detailed geometry to make use of that higher resolution, but we're still dealing with hardware on the level of ~XB1 here. There won't be any 200GB games. And there will be very, very few actual 4K games anyway.

1. Camera Function Parental Controls? Putting kids/teens in front of a camera is a recipe for disaster. I remember all the sick shit I saw on my Xbox 360 with randoms either beating off, having sex, doing other weird shit live on camera. How is Nintendo going to protect children from this?

2. Internal Memory: 256GB? Well anyone knows that 4K game sizes can become quite large. Hell Call of Duty on the PS5 is over 200GB alone. Will 3rd parties like EA just port their monster game sizes over to the Switch 2? If you are a Cod fan that could be 1 or 2 games on your entire drive?

3. Nintendo Online/U.I upgrade or change? I saw nothing addressing the state of Nintendo online and it's functions.

4. Dramatic Price increase? Why do they feel it's okay to go up such a dramatic amount. Their game prices went from $60 to $90 so about 1/3rd more. Why do they feel they deserve so much over the Market value? Sure the hardcore Nintendo geeks will buy any price you put on them but the Masses are going to pump their brakes. Mom is going to Scoff when little Timmy asked for a $90 Mario Kart for Christmas. The sad thing is Nintendo rarely drops their prices. Launch Switch games are still $50-$60 in the store.

5. Price for game upgrades? How much do I have to pay if I already own the Switch original? Are there graphic upgrades or just allowing me to use the game?

6. DLSS Features? Will this be possible on the new platform? IF so, what type of DLSS

7. Battery Life?
They already confirmed battery life and its the same as the first edition of SW1. 2 - 6.5 hrs.

How about reading the first line at the link ?
I did initially, that is why I asked what specifically was misinformation?

Edit: oh I see, you are referring to the "cartridges are now k-card" statement. I thought you were referring to the link itself, due to the initial statement not being the in response you quoted.

This. The initial post was misleading and implied that all games would be key cards.

Where are you getting $90 from? Mario Kart World is $80 but I believe Metroid Prime 4 is $70 and TOTK was already $70 so it's a $10 increase ($60>$70/$70>$80)

I think battery life is confirmed as 2.5-6 hours

Edit: Could be one of those cold Northerners.
Edit 2: Could have been DK that was $70?

After talking about the camera, they did go into details about parental controls and "parents having the power to allow accounts for camera chatting". Of course, it's all up to the parents for making sure that happens, so who knows how things will pan out if there are no parental controls.

it would probably have been a separate stream you have to pay for anyway.
Yeah, prices I can handle, nickel and diming I cannot. If you can't afford to throw the interactive manual game in as a pack-in title, then don't make it to begin with.
