Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

It feels heavier though. I think it's a great improvement over an already amazing controller.

Is the battery life still insane?
I've never gotten to a point it needed to be charged, but I'm not a good reference since I plug it in after two or three days so it doesn't die on me.

Considering the SoC was ready for years and most of the OS is reused from Switch 1… how is this happening? :/… There should have been ample time to figure this out, right?
I don't remember the source, I think it's one of those guys from the hacking community trying to break the security, but seemingly the whole OS is completely different, not a fork or the same with modifications, it's entirely different from the one in Switch 1 built from the ground up and they just decided to use a very similar UI/UX.

I think it makes sense, if the BC had to be done using a translation layer, it definitely couldn't "just run" anything from Switch 1 and the OS is something you have to rewrite for each new device to do proper optimizations afaik.

Overall, really happy with my Switch 2. What's impressed me most is the secret boost to many older Switch 1 games. A ton of games that had framerate issues are now locked at at least 30 FPS and loading is vastly improved. I honestly thought it would be the exception, not the rule, that a Switch 1 game would play better on Switch 2.

Why do people want those? Nostalgia?

It's a comfortable controller and NSO has a GameCube offering. The controller can be used in most games but it does lack some features (missing buttons: -, L3, R3). It's the controller I've spent the most time with on the Switch 2 though I don't own a S2 Pro Controller.

l ordered the GameCube one given it has the new C button. I prefer playing games on original hardware, although I'm on the fence about the n64 and snes ones

I just see myself playing GameCube the most, hoping they add some good titles

At a minimum I know I'll play Wind Waker

They're great as additional controllers if you have friends over. I have so many Nintendo controllers between switch 1 and 2. Now I just need friends

The N64 controller is awesome. The rumble really feels like a rumble pak is plugged in.

Just wanna say thank you and for anyone else who has a battery drain issue, this fix works!

So i checked out those links you provided up there about it being a known issue and i THINK i fixed mine. Now with mine (Bravia OLED), the issue was that when i turned on the Switch 2 when it's docked, it would come on fine on the tv but every single time, after 30-45 seconds or so, i would lose my video for 3 seconds or so and then it would come back, and it wouldnt happen again. So it was only when i first turned it on.

I saw that people were solving their drops by turning OFF "Match TV Power State" in the Switch 2 settings. I went and did that on my Switch 2, put the system to sleep, and powered off my tv. Turned my tv back on, powered on the Switch 2 in docked mode and it went on and the issue did NOT occur this time! I'm going to see how it is later today, and if it still doesn't happen again, i'll consider it solved for my situation. It seems that perhaps Switch 2 doesn't play nice at the moment with HDMI-CEC.

The OS in general has alot of bugs they need to fix.

Replying to myself here lol to confirm that indeed fixed my issue. Switch 2 doesnt play nice with HDMI-CEC at the moment. Should be fixable with a system update id hope!

After a few hours in docked mode with the SW2 Pro controller, it's gonna be hard to go back to portable.

My Savage Raven grip finally shipped. Hope it's here tomorrow.

It's funny- the OLED TV I bought seems like it was built with the Switch 2 in mind: 4K, 120fps, HDR10, VRR, 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. It's like I'm getting a Switch 2, except 48" on my wall.

Tears of the Kingdom at 4k is fucking amazing.

Portable looks good at 1080p, but I don't think it's 100% native 1080p. Sometimes the image is sharper than other times. However, docked, it always looks great.

Art style > realism

Nintendo really are the best video game makers.

With Tears of the Kingdom, I like having the grips being:

GL = B
GL = X

That way I can run and jump/glide with my thumbs still on the sticks.

Hello and thank you for any help you can offer. I have some basic questions about the Switch 2.

  1. What is considered the best screen protector available?
  2. Which memory card is the best?
  3. Is there an official list from Nintendo of all the games that are enhanced on Switch 2?
  4. Of the enhanced games, which ones (in your opinion) are enhanced the most?
  5. Is the Pro 2 controller necessary or worth the upgrade if I already have a Pro Controller from Switch1?
I think that's it for now lol. Thank you again for any help!

1) Don't overspend on tempered glass screen protectors, the higher priced ones are a scam, just grab a 3pack one with an alignment tool, Amfilm, Jsaux etc are good brands and cost about 8-10 Eurodollars on Amazon.

2) There's no "best" at the moment, SanDisk, Samsung are all good but...there's a shortage for the time being when it comes to bigger than 256GB ones.In the US of A there's a 512GB one sold by Walmart ? Best buy ? that goes for little bit more than the official 256GB ones.

3) There is, just Google it.
Some are paid upgrades (Zelda BOTW/TOTK go for 10 Eurodollars each) while the ones for Mario party jamboree and Kirby go for 20 since they also come with DLC.
Many others are free (Mario Odyssey/Mario 3d world/Top down Zelda remakes etc), why ? Only Nintendo knows...

4) Zelda BOTW/TOTK, Mario Odyssey and Mario 3D world are all good.
Zelda top down/isometric games are also good but more importantly, run much better compared to the S1.

5) People will tell you yes, but, IMO, I wouldn't bother if I already had the Pro1, it's 90 Eurodollars, better to spend that money elsewhere , besides, not being able to wake the console with it isn't that big of a deal to me.
Personally, I went for the 8bit do ultimate C2 for...27 Eurodollars and I couldn't be happier, then again, I just needed a joypad as to not have to detach the joycons from the console all the time.

😮‍💨 I feel some kind of way now that you (of all people) got the Pro Controller before me...😅
I've owned every Nintendo gaming platform ever released in NA. I've spent more money on Nintendo games than games on other platforms combined, most likely. My brother has always called me a closet Nintendo fanboy. I just don't talk much about it.

I've never been a handheld gamer. Loathed it at times, actually. But this nice big screen is making me interested in taking the handheld aspect for a spin. I've heard mixed feelings on the battery time in handheld, but I don't intend to play it for long periods that way.

Which games does everyone enjoy in handheld mode?

I just bought the Savage Raven in hopes it makes handheld play more comfortable. Even with the Switch 2 joycons being a bit larger my hands are too big to hold this comfortably for more than 20 minutes or so. Would be interested in hearing your opinion of it after you try it.

I've used my switch 2 in 2 weeks more than my entire switch 1 lifetime lol.

Completed Xenoblade chronicles 1, working on Xeno 2, completed Metroid dread, working on dungeon 3 of Zelda totk, working on super Metroid and Metroid prime…. And then playing co op fun with my son on Mario Kart world, super Mario wonder, and tropical freeze.

This thing fuuuuucks.

most of these titles aren't even enhanced much (or at all) compared to playing them on the original switch. so why the sudden surge of switch playin?

You've been missing out this whole time dude lol

Switch 1 went to my daughter. Switch lite to my wife. I hated playing on either because of how uncomfortable joy cons are. Never got to hook it up to a TV.

This one I told my son it is not to be played portable and it's hooked up to a TV in my bedroom.

On my switch 1 I played those games but put them all down fast. In fact the only game I completed for switch 1 was breath of the wild and I did that on my pc lol…

Having its own dedicated space and being my device helps. Also the gaming lul this summer is perfect timing to work on back logs which my Nintendo one is big.

okay, makes sense in that case lol

Even though the Switch 2 is just a beefier Switch, I guess that's all I wanted out of the next Nintendo platform. I've played so much of my Switch 2 in the last couple of weeks. It's insane.

Just started NMS on the Switch 2.

Meanwhile I've barely touched it. Mario Kart is way too expensive and am still waiting for DKB.

It doesn't feel like a Switch to me. I spent 8 years playing 3rd party games on the Switch, and Cyberpunk doesn't look like a super vaseline version of a game with framerate issue when you turn the camera.

I've had it since the day after the SW2 came out. It is a gamechanger for handheld. Until Mobapad brings out Switch 2 Joycon replacements, I'll use this.

Silicon Power launches new Hypera microSDXC Express Card for the Switch 2 — features PCIe 3.0 and UHS-I for wide compatibility
1TB should be more than enough to save a couple of your favorite AAA titles on your Nintendo Switch 2.

Memory and storage manufacturer Silicon Power just released the Hypera microSDXC Express Card designed for the Switch 2, arriving in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities. The company says that this memory card can hit read speeds of up to 800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 700 MB/s — this reduces download, install, and load times on the new handheld, allowing you to seamlessly play AAA titles without worrying about buffering. It was also tested for reliability, ensuring that it will withstand the rigors of daily use so that you don't lose data due to the card's failure.

I'm not the biggest Dbrand fan but the quality of their case is excellent. The hand grips make a massive difference to handheld play.

I know I'm going to break down and get the dbrand grip. Everything I've read about it is favorable aside from maybe an issue with the Joy cons sticking to the system, but that can be remedy pretty easily. It's my only gripe with the system. I have big hands and playing is manageable, but not exactly comfortable for me
