What do you think is the best racing game of all time?

Uniracers. Not a joke post. It was so simple, strictly 2D racing game where you gained speed by performing tricks. Also you're a unicycle.
If we're talking strictly cars... I'd go with Top Gear 2 for SNES. I didn't really get into any racing games after SNES aside from Destruction Derby which came free with my baller Matrox Mistique.

Outrun 2/2006 by long way for me, arcade racing at it's best. I know you could class it more as a driving game then racer but I don't care as I enjoy the racing modes too. Most of my favorite racers where made by Sega actually.
Nostalgia picks: Lotus 3 for that level generator and Micro Machines 2(and variations).
I don't play sim racers at all.

yes most likely for me.
Probably the game that understood the open world design the best.
It's insane people still don't get it today. Just play Burnout Paradise.
I played this recently and aside from the awful soundtrack (I hate Guns & Roses) the game was awesome
It was a blessing that you could insert your own superior soundtrack as well, but yeah it's great design, no story or fluff, just arcade racing bliss

You clearly haven't played Horizon 3's street/city races. They're 1000 times closer to PGR than DC is.
