Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Serious Question:
What will Larry Hyrb be revealing later on in the week?

Last week in Australia he said a top-requested title would come out on Saturday, November 12th (i.e. Friday, November 11th in the States).
With Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 now out the door....what else could it be?

Please be TES IV: Oblivion!!!

It looks like eventually all EA games should be backwards compatible, if you think a little it's a win-win situation for both, MS gets more games and EA Acces gets more value, there are games like Skate, the second and third Dead Space... although I'm not expecting games where there may be license issues.

Ugh, these announcements make me happy but they hurt. Early 360 days was my college years so I was pretty heavily relying on Gamefly and Gamestop trade ins.

Anyone else hear of a great game and then realize you gave it up for probably pennies?

They are available digitally to download with EA Access. They are not available to purchase. All backwards compatible titles are digital downloads.

Got it.. so you can't buy it, but having EA Access will let you download them and play them without a disk right?

Do you get to keep BC EA titles after EA Access expires (like Games w/ Gold) or do they get locked again?

I think Grand Theft Auto IV is probably it.

Releasing a backward compatibility game on a Friday is an anomaly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the only backward compatibility game to release on a Friday was....Red Dead Redemption. So at least there'd be precedent with Rockstar.

Correct on 1. You do not keep access to EA Access titles after your subscription expires. And just to make sure, you only keep Games with Gold titles on 360 titles. You will lose access to Games with Gold Xbox One titles if you let your gold sub lapse. (http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/xbox-live-membership/games-with-gold-faq)

Is there any living soul that somehow still doesn't have any of the Xbox 360 Gears games?

Me, because I got GoW 4 from the Nvidia promotion, Microsoft won't do anything about the codes; it's up to Nvidia in their minds, and Nvidia doesn't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

Phil said its a busy release month of top-requested BC games, so hopefully there's something for everyone throughout November!
Can't wait for that Xbox Mexico event where he will have a conference.
Praying for Splinter Cell, Max Payne, LA Noire, Batman (;_;), Modern Warfare 2 (;_;).

So you got an Xbox console and have an interest in Gears 1-J?

Yes indeed, it was one of the big reasons I got a One S last month when I saw the promotion. Never had a 360, so the Xbox One S was a no-brainer with the BC efforts.

has there been any indication that they may try to get suspend/resume working with BC games? that would really put this feature on the next level IMO

re downloaded twice - mass effect 3 not working for me.

I currently has both the physical disk and a subscription to ea -

I get the 360 logo then nothing. Pretty frustrating.

I'm thinking ME 2&3 makes more sense when you realize that EA and Microsoft wouldn't need to worry about finding a way to list it on the Xbox 360 store if they just make it accessible via the EA Access client (a problem for multi disc games it would seem).

EA gets to build momentum for their next release and secure more Access subscriptions, MS gets to say the entire trilogy is playable on their hardware.

Called it. :)

Cleared cache?

I did - the only thing I can think of is that I downloaded it both times using the physical disk as the prompt.

this time I am downloading a third time via the EA pass prompt - I hope that is the issue.

(I'm guessing it should work - I have no issue with other bc games - recently playing both RDR and blue dragon)

I'm still leaning toward OG Xbox BC especially after the ME announcements today. For MS to announce a date a few weeks in advance regarding BC news on the 12th means it's something big.

It's either BC for almost all 360 titles or OG Xbox BC. If it is neither then we'll be seeing games like GTA4, Battlefield, Oblivion etc. make there way

Phil has literally said it wasn't OG Xbox BC

man i still want OG Xbox BC to happen

Fusion Frenzy and Voodoo Vince all day err day. But it's not happening.

Fable Anniversary

Man, Fable Anniversary was such a bizarre release. Coming out a year early, on a platform that clearly couldn't handle it. If it was on BC it'd probably perform better than it did on 360.

Adding Microsoft published 360 games to our XBL subs as a sort of EA Access thing would be neat.

Crackdown BC and Crackdown XB1 coming with a code seems a safe bet eventually. No idea what to expect from this event but if they're ready to announce a release date this could be one of a few BC related announcements.

Has ME1 been updated to run well now? All the comparative footage from when it first released looks much worse than the 360 version, and I haven't been able to find newer footage.

Excited to play through the trilogy again regardless

Dirt 3 and Showdown run great and are fun racing games, CSGO is pretty good if you can tolerate it's framerate and the fact it's outdated as fuck. Only suggested if you can't play the PC version or curious to see how it plays on a controller like me.

ohh it's not 60fps on XBLA?

I wonder if not releasing the game for sale prohibits MS from adding BC functionality to a title.

Blur has been delisted and the rights to the franchise are with some horrible mobile company but could BC compatibility be added to support the disc versions already pressed? I fear not.
