Cheapest solid for gaming 4k TV with wide gamut is probably Sony Kd-43Xd8005 for around 800 euro.

Stay away from cheap LG they use fake 4k (something similar to pentile in phones in concept).
 
Just bought the 49" KS7000 from John Lewis, will get delivered thursday along with a PS4 Pro. Was going to wait for black friday but apparently John lewis price match for 28 days after purchase so will get some money back if there are any good deals anyhow.

Are there any 4k HDR demo videos i can download for free? Dont have netflix or a bluray player but want some stuff to show it off.

I purchased the Sony Bravia 65" X9300D KD65X9300D. I think it looks awesome but is there anything i should do to optimise it for ps4 Pro?

i believe that i have read that Sony has updated firmware to reduce lag... so check if you have latest firmware.
 
What's up with the EPP deals? I know the $729 thing is done, but the 55KS8000 says $929 until I put it in my cart, then it goes back to $1199...weird.

Same issue here..I have EPP(got an invite from a buddy of mine) SHOULD have ordered it a few days ago when it was 729 plus 10 percent cash back from Discover, would have paid around 650 bucks for the 55 inch..now its back to 929 and when I add to cart it shows up as 1199..I did an online chat with Samsung, the lady said if I Called Samsung they could price adjust it..not sure if its worth a try..could kick myself for not getting in on this offer

For that budget, space considerations and considering you are grabbing a Pro, the Sony X800D really seems ideal for your setup. Get the 43" model (about $650 on Amazon) so you get 4K & HDR and leaves you well under budget still.
 
Really bummed I missed the deal but I literally don't have all the money I'd need for that until payday so I had to wait. Sigh. Guess I'll keep an eye out for it again in the future.
 
I still need to know what my cheapest alternative is to adding more HDMI ports to the upcoming OLED. I need either an HDMI switch or Home Theater Receiver that is compatible with all the 4K stuff offered so I can attach my other devices.

This is my current receiver, not sure if it'll do the job. The only other device I would add that is 4K (maybe) is my PC. Regardless I still have three other devices that have to connect to the TV, so I would really like the best (and cheapest) solution.

I think I need to update. I remember seeing it but my wife was about to watch the bachelor and things would have turned nasty if she missed it.

Is the HDR compatible with PS4?

I'm not too fussed with input lag as I don't play twitch shooters.

X930D? Of course it is compatible. It is a full HDR10 television. They reduced input lag to below 59 which although still high, is not something you will notice too much. The colors and the 4k X1 processor will make HDR and 4K pop.

X750D is a brand new model from this year. Keep in mind when looking at naming, the D is 2016 for Sony much like the K signifies 2016 for Samsung.

What is EPP? I'll check that model. I need the TV to be multi voltage though. Also that sony tv is a new model this year.

The 3 HDMI port bit was misinformation that spread around the net before the TV released back in April. Yes, there are even product photos of the set with 3 ports only, but it's definitely 4 as LG's product page and every owner can confirm.
Only the curved C6 has 3.

Picking up PS4 PRO on Thursday night. Pretty pumped.
 
Work just ordered a bunch of Samsung KU6300 4K HDR TVs which got me excited to try my Pro out on until I looked into it more and the HDR is a sham. Beware out there when a TV claims it has HDR10 support when the reality is it barely qualifies.

What? HDR looks great on the 6300, it just isn't as great as a full HDR10 set that allows for over 1100 nits of brightness. This is something all of us have known. Right now, only the more expensive flagship models have full HDR10/Dobly Vision support. The goal is to have a decent 4K television that utilizes HDR and low input lag.
 
My tv has a "HDR Effect" setting per input where you can set it as low, med, or high. Should this be set at the lowest so PS4 Pro controls the HDR level or should i set this
to high? Dont have my system yet but trying to see if anyone knows for Thursday.

Tv is LG 49UH6100

This is false because this TV is very limited in how it interprets HDR metadata due to its 8-bit panel depth, colour space coverage and brightness making it a poor HDR performer that doesn't meet the minimum HDR Premium certification which isn't strict with its requirements anyway. Very poor unfortunately.

Oh, awesome news. That will have me covered for the 4K devices.

Still wondering if I'll still get the same upscaling benefit if I connect something that isn't 4K (like the Wii U) directly to the TV vs through an HDMI switch or receiver. Anyone know?

What do you think of the Sony X800D? I was originally going to get the 43" version of it before the Samsung deal happened and ended up getting the 55" KS8000

I think a good AV-receiver would be able to do a better upscaling job than the LG OLED, but it would cost you and then there's the question whether you would even notice the (possibly only slight) improvement.

As far as I can tell, the 6300 doesn't support wide color gamut so it's not really qualifying as an HDR set IMO. It seems more like it can take the signal but it can't properly display it. I'm not even sure what the point is without wide color gamut.

Pretty decent telly. It's a 10-bit panel and a decent HDR performer since it covers 96% of DCI P3. Input lag is supposed to be good too, but yeah, KS8000 is a very good purchase especially at that size.

Have you even seen HDR enabled on it? I mean what are you arguing? Some HDR is better than no HDR. A non-HDR set will not compete with the 4K HDR picture quality of the 6300. Yes it does not have a wide color gamut or high enough brightness for true HDR10. But when you are looking at a 4K image on the 6300 and then a 4k+HDR image on the 6300, the HDR image looks good and way better than without. You are just ASSUMING that because it isn't full HDR specs that it looks like shit. Some HDR is better than no HDR at all.

See above. It is not true HDR10. But to say the set does not benefit from HDR or that there is no point is just wrong. The 4K+HDR of this set isn't the best but it will pretty much beat any regular 4K SDR image you will see with it's use of contrast and brightness to enhance the image.

Yea, theres more to HDR than just the WCG. There is an improvement in the overall picture quality in HDR on this TV. Is it going to look as good as a TV twice its price? Likely not, no argument there.

If you don't want to spend the larger amounts for the higher end models this is one of, if not the best choice in the mid range of 4K sets.

rtings agrees with me. :P

Also the title of this thread is not specific to high end HDR 4K TVs. I don't think everyone has the same budgets here or wants to spend as much as others.

That all to me sounds half assed implementation and misleading. I'm in the mindset if you're going to get something, get something right rather than extremely mediocre. Not having a 10 bit panel alone makes it pointless to even entertain.

Ugh.. This sucks to hear. Target has a sale going on that would allow me to get the 60" for about $650.. I wonder if it's still worth it

If you save your money and wait for an actual decent HDR TV to hit a price point not too far from where you're at then I promise you, you'll be getting a better deal.

You really, REALLY don't want to go for the cheapest option when it comes to HDR I'm afraid. There's no global standard that every TV hits by default like 2160p resolution for example. You really need to be smart with your money otherwise you're getting a bad deal.

If you want the full HDR10 experience then no, depends on how much you want to spend. Otherwise it is still an awesome 4K set.

That depends, is 60" and 4K and 'some' HDR for $650 a benefit for you, or no? Remember this is just an information thread for buying a 4K tv for your PS4 Pros, not an everyone wait for flagships in 2016 or for models from 2017 and 2018.

It is not full HDR10 spec, however the image quality of your set will pretty much beat any non HDR 4K set. The step up would be the KS8000 for Samsung, but be prepared for an almost double the price cost. There are always trade offs. I just bought an 65" KS8000 to go with the 43" X800D I already have. I am fully aware that next years set will beat these ones. HDMI 2.1 with metadata, etc. Better FALD sets. But for my price, budget and requirements, these sets met everything. Only you can ultimately decide what is worth it for you.

Ordered mine on a Wednesday late, never got shipping information, TV arrived that Friday and only after it arrived did I get a notice it shipped with tracking info haha. Don't pay too much attention to what it says on the site.
