I don't believe anything. It is you who is blindly believing.

I said he is the lawfully elected leader of our country and it isn't going to change, so I hope that the country does well because it is my country too and I love my country.

You blindly believe that everything is going to be terrible before we even set sail on this four year voyage.

If you love this country and are optimistic, please free to enlist and serve. It's a great career path and you'll be well taken care of.

+1 to this.

All Trump has to do is give some relief to rural America in the rust belt, and the unions in that regions will stay red for him. They might even come out & vote in bigger numbers for him in 2020 if his support is good enough.

Will he reach across the aisle to get any of that kind of stuff passed?

Do we expect the GOP to approve any of that? Maybe rural GOP but Big Business GOP will say FUCK NO.

The first signs of GAF's recovery are beginning to emerge:

Oh so that's what you're into

If this election was the true wake up call I think it was, Trump's gonna need much bigger numbers

You're kind of proving my point. They all lost a previous primary then followed with a loss in the general election.

OK. I'm just saying that my initial observation had absolutely nothing to do with results in primaries and everything to do with results in the general election. I was responding to someone that suggested that if Trump lost re-election in 2020, he'd run again in 2024.

Whether or not a past primary defeat is a solid predictor of a future general election defeat is an entirely different argument. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that it had little to do with the point I was attempting to make.

I'm 37 with a bum knee and a Master's degree. I have no need to go in and they don't want my ass anyways. Nice snark though.

You're being ridiculous. He'll be a 78 year old who already lost an election.

He was a 70 year old who had never held elected office in his life, and people loved him for it. He is ridiculous personified. So Trump fucks up badly enough to lose 2020 to a Dem, and inside 4 years the Republican party is going to unify and rebuild itself to field a strong enough candidate to oppose him? Have you seen who's being proposed for his cabinet? He'll crush everyone in the 2024 primaries.

No way to know for sure, but the Democrats need to retake congress in the mid terms. If they have any hope of winning in 2020 they have to have a strong congress AND a strong candidate.

Or they could just sit around and pray Trump does something impeachable.

President Pence sounds even worse to me than Trump, although it may just be the bisexuality talking.

You guys think Pence can successfully undermine him and run in 2020? Totally serious. Distance himself from all the wrongs and appeal to the throngs of those who just showed up on Tuesday.

Fuck.

Fuck.

Remember, when Trump offered Kasich the VP slot, Trump's offer made it pretty clear that most of the responsibility of running the executive affairs will fall on the VP. So, I think we may have more Pence than Trump in the Whitehouse. Think Dick Cheney.

You wish someone's death. It's sad and toxic. What are the reasons for such thinking?

If Trump loses after his first term it will only be because it was disastrous, so much so that he would never win in 2024, making his inevitable nomination a gift to the incumbent Democrat, which would make a further mockery of democracy.

I keep thinking back on the late 70s/early 80s view that the future was going to be a grand utopia where the human race lived and worked together in harmony. The kind of future depicted in The Prologue and the Promise.

Somewhere along the line that utopian future turned dystopian, and I don't know if we'll ever get away from that. Shit sucks, why does humanity have to be so terrible?

I now have two friends who have been harassed on separate occasions by Trump supporters. A friend of mine posted this on her Facebook. I cannot believe this.

"First racist encounter in this post-Trump world. I proudly have an "I'm with her" sticker displayed on my car. I came out from the gym to a woman spitting on my trunk. I caught her red-handed. I asked her what she thought she was doing. She said that this was "our country" now and people like me (Hillary supporters) "can crawl in a hole and die." I asked her why she was so angry and she asked me if I was a Jew because I looked like one, and that if I am, "get ready for your next exodus lady, because we're about to clean out this country." I am crying uncontrollably and am just in shock and fear I DONT RECOGNIZE THIS COUNTRY ANYMORE AND I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE. This wasn't in the Middle East or North Korea. This was in Albuquerque, New Mexico. God save us all."

It's possible but he is our elected President. He won free and fair and it is what it is. I wish him the best of luck and hope for the sake of our country he does well. If he doesn't then hopefully we can take out the trash in four years.

I will never hope my country crashes and burns though.
Let's not act like this was a game and one sides favorite team just lost.

seriously, stop trolling
There are boundaries that should not be exceeded and this is one of them. Peace for all.

Why didn't you answer my question?

Can't believe prince still think Pence will call the shots based on some old rumor. Pence will just work more hours, Trump will be the CEO.

I read a lot of election/presidential threads here and I noticed that no one defended his vote for Trump. Out of the 60 million voters, none of them are using this thread? I wonder!

There's a few if you look. Most of them are just being snobs about it with drive-by passive-aggressive posts.

Since polling didn't catch this, I have a pretty strong feeling that most of the voters for Trump don't really want to admit they voted for him
