Coming from Mafia 3 straight into this, I gotta say I miss the driving in Mafia 3 already, though the driving in this is decent enough and much better than the 1st.

Played for a couple of hours last night just exploring the world and came across a shooting incident. The cops showed up and told the shooter to freeze. The shooter naturally bolts and I'm thinking I'm going to be a good Samaritan, so I use a melee attack on him trying to help.

Big mistake. The cops instantly turned on me. I booked it out of there on foot and eventually got myself stuck in a corner that I couldn't get out of with all sorts of cops and swat types showing up. I'm hiding in a scissor lift and popping off a few rounds with my handgun trying to fight my way out when I eventually realize I'm not going to outgun them and more of them are just going to show up. I decide to jump off the scissor lift and make a run for it after shooting a few of the cops on the front line. I make it around a corner and out of nowhere a fucking K9 drags my ass down while mauling me and the cops finish me off.

Really enjoying this game so far!
 
I have some Ubi challenges that refer to neutralizing "mobsters". Is there a specific faction of "mobsters" I haven't seen yet, or do they just mean gang members?

I've been playing non-lethally (or so I thought) but that's a bummer if so. ALTHOUGH I've already given myself a mulligan as I put a proximity hack on a non-lethal stun while casing out a gang hideout and while I was on the other side of the building it tripped which blew something up. When I got back 3 guys were dead, but I told myself it was unrelated. ;)

I posted that it's lethal but in the description it says non lethal so maybe he just concusses them
 
the game finally clicked for me, really enjoying it now. looks great on the Pro as well.

only thing that I don't find enjoyable is the constant trying to figure out how to get on the roof of a building for whatever reason

There's still plenty of stuff to discover. I don't miss towers at all and hope AC does away with them entirely.

Although the first game did do the tower thing better than other Ubi games.

I actually really like that sort of thing. As I mentioned earlier ITT, treat it as an environmental puzzle you need to solve.

I wonder if it's like WD1 in that if you have a weapon out his melee is the choke...

Either way, according to this I'm in the clear:
If you knock enemies out with electronics, they can be woken up, but if you kill them they can’t. Melee attacks also make enemies act as if they’re dead, but when I asked one of the developers they assured me they were just sleeping.

Good enough for me! Damn shame about those bikers who somehow had that gas main blow up a half second after that electrical panel short circuited though.
I didn't want to reload my last save again as I had already reloaded a few minutes earlier when I accidentally blew up a security guard who had a fucking grenade in his pocket or something. Should have let that idiot stay dead.
 
Played for a few hours yesterday, the game feels alive and fun. Love the tone of the game compared to how bland the first one was. Reminds me of ready player one with the cultural nuggets.

I'm playing on the pro and 4k and I'm seeing a lot of pop in, lod popin, texture. Feels also like small dropped frames here and there pretty often. Is that widespread?

Invest in the remote control skill so you can use electronic lifts, cranes, etc

The game starts really awesome and the characters are really cool, IMO.

It's full of gaming/movie/"nerdy" references that are super cool and I genuinely feel like I'm playing Mr. Robot, the game, but with lighter and more awesome characters.

It's a gang of hacker buddies having fun fighting for what they beleive is right.

Side missiones are also really fun, at least for me. I just finished one really funny one about ATM.

Ah didn't see this post. That's sad to hear. I would have been very surprised if this matched Mafia 3 for that.
 
I'm finding this game a lot harder to get into compared to the original.

1. Is there no more slow motion 'Focus' anymore? That was very useful in the first game

2. Mission structure seems a bit all over the place with no clear progression, there's just lots of missions thrown up constantly and you do them in whatever order you want. Which is fine but a bit confusing.

3. The enemy AI seems a lot more aggressive than the first game. I found it easy to go in stealth-y and use a silence pistol to take them out one by one but in this game that seems a lot harder. I'm not even sure if there ARE any silenced weapons anywhere. This game seems to be more about stealth hacking but that sort of playstyle isn't really for me, especially since it's often very confusing what you should be hacking next.

Anyone else feel similarly?

The only times you need R2 is when you have to vault over something so either you have something in front of you to vault over or you don't..when you do you will press R2 to vault over if you are running anyways so it'd the same thing. Meaning one button for running and parkour would work.

One button for running and parkour would not work and it would make the game unplayable!

Try running toward a cover while holding R2, sometimes he will jump when he's several feet away from an obstacle depending on the animation. if it was one button, you wouldn't be able to run and stop in time to take cover but he will automatically jump over it or even the next cover, too. it would make the game a nightmare to play!
 
I'm curious if the "Digital Emporer" guy outside Coit Tower will respawn. I took a selfie with him, he got mad, we got into an altercation, the cops were called, I put out a gang hit on him, chaos ensued, massive explosions and cars flying everywhere - and he got killed.

Did anyone try to take a picture of him? Because after the mission they ask you if you took a picture and marcus said no. I think you can take pictures while watching from a hacked camera. Missed it!

Yeah they really blew it with the shooting. The weapons feel terrible, the lack of focus is baffling for sure. There are silenced weapons in the game though. A rifle and a pistol. You have to 3D print them in the HQ.
 
So it seems that if you upgrade to car control hacking you lose the ability to get money from drivers while driving around. Is there a toggle?

I am playing on both standard PS4 and the Pro. Performance is the same. Don't worry about it.

BTW, you could do the "Pacify" emote to calm NPC's down when they get mad at you.

The first game handled this well by making it so that you can only climb and vault while holding O at the same time.

This game does it better. You run by clicking L3 and you can only vault and climb while holding R2. I think it's better than O because while holding O, you can't use your right thumb to control the camera.
