Watch_Dogs 2 |OT| .HTML

That's just it, I'll have to go back and play more, I may have missed the air control due to no animations, but that lack of animations is a HUGE thing, it impacts the feel of the game. I understand that this doesn't mean a lot to everyone, but to those who it does mean a lot to, it's make or break.

Well its not make or break for me as i said id probably still finish it but the clunky gameplay is making me regret buying it.

The vehicles are so meh i fast travel pretty much all the time so i havent run into your particular issue.

The takedown animations are poor. It takes too long to go into the animation and once in alot of the time models are passing through each other.

But probably my biggest pet peeve atm is the freerunning crap. You hold the button and he just runs along and thats fine its not a platformer, but at a certian height he does a long crappy canned animation flip. It takes longer than the usual hop/jump and you momentum goes to shit. Its indicative of alot of the way this game plays.

Just wanted to add that the use of Turbo Lover was fantastic.. Those kinds of things keep me playing.

Another thing that should be commended is the amount of environmental puzzling.

Doing a lot of these side missions have gotten me to think very vertically and outside of the box

Wrench has to be one of the lamest video game characters of the generation. He single-handedly destroys all the good writing, performance capture and voice acting that nearly every other character in the game has.

Nah, just wait. You'll start to like him more later on once you get to know more about him. Wrench is cool.

This game is pretty fun. Haven't played a decent open world game since MGSV and this is kind of filling the hole after taking a long break from this style of game design. Calling the cops on people and watching the chaos is so fun!

Some people are saying because of Marcus' nature, they don't like to kill people. I was in a restricted area full of the biker gang and those guys were absolutely ruthless when they caught me sneaking. Not only did I slaughter each and every one of them, I enjoyed it. I don't care what Marcus is, there are people who need to take the eternal nap in this game.

There's nothing in Marcus's nature that implies he doesn't, especially later on

I don't mind the idea of killing. I just wish the silenced weapons were actually quiet. My brief experience with them has had negligible benefits.

About halfway through the game, and it feels like stealth has taken a downgrade since Watch Dogs 1. In like every mission you have to do a physical hack which requires either you or the RC drone to be present, you can't do camera to camera hopping and hack everything without ever entering a building. (The quadcopter, which I love, does make cameras pretty useless anyway)

They also removed some stealth options, like lures and the custom distraction phone calls you could do.

Lol, RTJ on a video game commercial, huh. Pretty cool.

The editing on the commercial was nice.

I'm excited to get this on Friday. I actually liked playing WD1, but god damn generic white dude sucked ass. Marcus looks to be a great 20 something stylish anarchy punk, I'm so interested in playing that type of character. I know the music is going to be mostly electronic, but I hope they have some hip-hop or punk tracks. Hate the dude with the anon shit tho.

The Kotaku 'tips for playing' article mentioned the checkpointing in the game is poor, and multiple times they had to restart missions from the beginning because there were no mid-mission checkpoints for that particular mission. Has anyone else noticed that?

Yeah, it's pretty annoying tbh

Ah that's too bad. I'd still like to play this, but few things in gaming frustrate me more than some of the older open world games where mission fail (regardless if you were 5 or 30 minutes in) meant go back to the beginning. I suppose I just lack the patience.

I was doing a mission on Alcatraz, completed it, just had to escape, got shot to death and had to start all over.

Each section of a mission doesn't take that long to complete but that one in particular is a huge pain in the ass.

Still say this game is worth every dollar though. Im seriously in love with it.

The soundtrack is actually really varied. There is a radio station that plays stuff like NoFX, a hip hop playlist and they have an app like Shazam where you can pick up songs you hear in the world. One of the radio stations is even classical.

The whole mission strand involving Galilei *reasonably late-ish game spoilers*
planting a bug on the satellite waiting to be launched and then hacking data hubs from spaaaace
was so good.

I'm having a great time with the game so far. It seems like whenever I get frustrated there's always some other approach I can try that'll work much better. I was having real trouble with one mission that wanted me to stay within the vicinity of this van protected by goons while I hacked into it, and the hack timer was so long and I kept getting discovered and killed. The game doesn't do checkpoints well, so every time I failed I had to start over from the beginning again and listen to the same dialogue all over. Eventually I had the bright idea to just run up and steal the van, and it worked perfectly :P

Spent a few hours with this game yesterday and I like it...but the dead zone on the left analogue stick is throwing me off something fierce :|

That's annoying. Ordered a car on demand. It spawned in a police car park that was a restricted area.

i had the same exact thing happen. So weird

I don't see why they just don't have the car drive up to you with no driver. Given the entire theme of the game and the fact that they hack everything (including cars!) it's not like it would be weird.

So far this is miles better than the first game and I might even begin to say that it is more fun in comparison to GTAV. Where Rockstar is constantly shifting their attention to more realism in favor of fun gameplay, Ubisoft has made the turn the other way around.

In my personal opinion the latter is the best option for me.

Rockstar is still the best in terms of presentation, story and atmosphere but their last two GTA games left me with less and less fun side activities to do. The fluidity of the player's movements in this game also makes it a lot more fun to just traverse the city.

Glad I purchased this Day 1. Definitely excited to play it further in the weekend.

I saw a stream on Twitch of the beginning of the game...

Nope ... not for me..

The characters and the dialogues ... my god ...

Might be the French dub though... but I never felt so far away from the targeted audience.

It's like the game outright says " this game is NOT for you".

Weird as Ubisoft always tries to appeal to the biggest number. But they went too far this time.

A shame cause I'm sure the game is really good. But I just can't stand its style.

Unfortunately, yes. I don't know if it's bugged but "reload last checkpoint" effectively restarts the entire mission.

One thing that is bugging me as I continue playing the game:

Horatio

WTF Horatio? Where are you? aren't you the supposed leader of this group of people? It looks like he doesn't have any importance in the plot and group. When doing missions, both side missions and main missions, the gang is always composed of Sitara, Josh, Wrench and Marcu. Horatio isn't even modelled as good as the others too.

Just keep playing.

Stuck on the Ghost Signals side operation.

In the cemetery, I hack the ctOS box but can't hack the computer once I'm in? And I don't see any other cameras to jump to?

Edit: Ah, should've been using my detective mode stuff more I guess

Without trawling throught the whole thread, is there any bulletpoints regarding the differences in performance between the XBO and PS4?

Tempted to get this, but my PS4 is full, so if the difference is minimal, or doesn't affect the experience, I'll plump for the XBO version.

I assume he is a plot device. I think he is 1. Gonna die. 2. Betray gang. 3. Just disappear.
I ain't telling u shiet.
I will say he does have a few missions focused on him later and you get to see more of his personality and life outside of Dedsec, you get to see what Wrench's 'regular' personality is like too.

Did someone take it? It says invalid code :(

This is exactly why ModBot was created. I understand that creating a giveaway for something you don't care for can be a bit of a hassle, but making that effort means other people aren't wasting their time trying a used code as it's immediately obvious when said code has been taken.

I'm really enjoying the game and the characters.

I really feel like this game is "hacker-centric" with no emotional bullshit around it.

Just a gang of hacker buddies, having fun and fucking around with the established powers.

I decided Marcus doesn't like to kill with his own hands, but will gladly frame multiple people for arson if necessary.

Yeah honestly, the laidback mostly light hearted ness of the hacker brotherhood is so refreshing. I haven't finished the game yet but I hope they stick with this gang for Watch_Dogs 3 with a few new recruits. I love these dudes too much to leave em behind.

I hope you're listening ubisoft, if not I'm going to come to your Toronto AND Montreal offices and 1337 h@xor into your systems. Or at the very least fist fight your security guards.

I just realised I have a heap of points available on the Ubisoft club store . Used my credits on all the extra skins , research points and free cash.

My Marcus likes to try and avoid killing, but if he's been stuck on the same mission restarting checkpoints for too long he'll gladly slaughter three dozen FBI dudes in a fit of rage :P

I'm really enjoying the characters, style and design of this game. When the gameplay is working -- that is, when the environment is well-designed enough to support a number of different approaches, reasonably, and those different approaches motivate really neat, sometimes unpredictable, responses, it's great.

And then, you know, when you're faced with the fluff content, it's kind of garbage, really. It's not particularly fun to go from the speed and excitement of parkour from Ubi's other games, to sitting there, staring up a story high building saying "Fuck." It's actually pretty deflating, despite the intention of getting the player to "think" there way in (I put "think" in quotations, because these puzzles degrade into formulaic strategies that are only matched in disappointment by discovering that they pretty much always work -- removing the excitement).

I mean, other Ubi games are boring when you're doing this shit of course, but they're boring in a more energetic way.

Still, when the characters are being charming and funny, and the various designs fall in place because someone actually paid attention to whether or not the scenario was "fun", it's fucking great.

What a weird game. I love it one minute and hate it the next. It might have more to do with how I play these kind of games than the game itself, but whatever.

So Marcus met the bad guy,
what I want to know is why cant I just cap that guy. I mean i've been killing lowly security guards and anyone who happens to see me in a restricted area for hours now, sending hit squads after people for the smallest indiscretion but when given the opportunity just to kill the fucker he just punches him arrg so painful
*.

*yes I am well aware that it would make for a short game.
