So...how big of an episode are we think this is going to be? We know it's a half hour special, with the only comparable episode in size being Bismuth. However the overall premise of the episode doesn't seem to suggest anything incredible to happen.

"Gem _______" titles have all been pretty important episodes. Gem Glow, Gem Drill, etc.

Today's the day.

22 minute special TODAY at 7:30 on good ol’ CN

Please check it out!

Hillary Florido

Bonus, looks like Rob Sugar (accidentally?) uploaded a clean and full version of Love Like You (not the stitched up versions you see everywhere) only to delete it later, but not before someone was able to mirror it: link

I have to work tonight so I won't be seeing it live with everyone. Where's a leak when you need one...?

Hilary and Lauren are on this one too? Sweet- they do the best Peridot and Lapis.

I wonder if they got Lauren to tame her Lapis, she always makes her look like she just woke up w/ bad bed hair.

Ugh, looks like "B Team" animation.

Steven WTF??? This nigga just created life. Then straight up murdered one of the species that he gave life too.

Great episode. Quite the positive message given what's going on in US society at the moment.

Also, did the art design change halfway through? Maybe I just imagined it.

I think my expectations were a little higher for a double-length episode, but it was still sweet. After Hit The Diamond, this is the first time we've seen the whole team together and interacting, which was really fun, even if we didn't have any big plotty stuff.

Also, did the art design change halfway through? Maybe I just imagined it.

The first half was storyboarded by Raven Molisee and Paul Villeco, who are the animation team that most dabbles in off-model animation. The back half was handled by Lauren Zuke and Hilary Florido, who tend to stick more to the models.

Looks like they had one team of storyboarders for the first half and another for the second half. Much preferred the second half team.

missed it, did anything happen? or was it like just a regular episode but double length

I'll watch it either way but just wanna know

Steven Universe has always been a blatantly political series, but holy shit, this was totally an episode about having Thanksgiving with the Trump voters in the family

It's weird to see someone with conservative opinions in a show like Steven Universe; him complaining that he just wants people to stay the way they were was kind of on the nose.

I loved how Lapis made a joke about her personal suffering, and everybody but Peridot was like... "Is it okay for us to laugh at that? She's laughing, but can we...?"

And then Peridot's just slapping like the table like "my girlfriend is the funniest depressed former prisoner-of-war ever."

Aw I loved this, it's like the most chill ep of SU ever made. Took the writers a lot of courage to do a double length ep that focuses on character interaction more than dropping a ton of lore and I already know people are gonna hate it for that but I really dug that aspect.
That scene with all the Gems chatting at the table was great and it makes me really happy to see the whole cast together like that.

I loved Peridot
pointing out how the entire Gem family was together again and how great it felt. It was probably my favorite part of the episode and a little bit meta as well. The only other times we've seen Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, Lapis, and Peridot together were Hit the Diamond and the beginning of Back to the Moon. In fact, Peridot sat out the baseball game so Gem Harvest is really the very first time they're all working together. The scenes of them preparing the food and having dinner together made me really want Lapis and Peridot as part of the team more often. I know it's hard to write interactions with so many characters at once. But now their absence in most episodes will feel even greater now that we've seen how fun it is to see them all interacting. I even loved the playful back-and-forth Homeworld Gems vs OG Crystal Gems dynamic they had at the dinner table.

that was a freaking weird episode
also, the social commentary was kind of on the nose, but Andy might turn into a more well-developed character if he sticks around

loved the akward moment when he tried to figure out who married Greg
