I don't think there are any, or it's just Sun/Moon.
It's actually cool how they don't ask you if you're a boy or girl. You just pick the picture of the person you want to start with. If only they went another step further and made all clothing non-gender specific.

Guessing it levelled up beyond level 16 and then evolved. Don't think you can do anything since the move relearner is near the end of the game.

It's still at level 16 so that's not the issue, apparently it learns Psybeam at 21 so I'll be fine until then.

That's what I'll be calling my bird buddy if I get a female Rowlet.
Well there is only a 12% chance of getting a female starter, so some people like it because it's simply rarer. Also since when it comes to breeding, the Pokemon in the egg is always based on the mother, it makes breeding easier if you are using egg groups (such as putting moves onto a Pokemon via breeding).

My CE from Amazon arrived a few hours ago and started my Nuzlocke on Moon (I ended up flipping a coin on what version I was going to play XD) after randomizing my starter (dice roll XD) I ended up with Popplio who is more adorable in motion then screen shots have lead me to believe. Only been able to catch a single Pokemon thus far which was a Pikipek. Popplio is named Foust, Pikipek is named Rogers.
Had some minor close calls already with Rogers getting a nasty crit that almost killed him right after I caught him XD hes not a neutral nature so no bonuses but I got extremely lucky with Foust's nature being modest since it seems to be a special attacker.
Enjoying the game a lot so far, It certainly has a lot more world building then I was expecting Alola already feels really fleshed out in terms of its setting, story, and characters which is a rather large departure from the series in general. I'm liking it so far... Would like a way to skip through text faster in the future though.
