Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

They animations from the e3 gameplay trailers weren't actually real gameplay animations...the ACTUAL gameplay bits in that trailer look just as much if not more janky than what they did over the course of four years. Which imho actually looks quite good and is quite ambitious with the amount of props and characters interacting with each other.

What you're referring to is the team felt the need to very VERY briefly shake the camera and pause the action just a bit with each attack, which a design choice that Nomura games don't usually have, the animation quality itself isn't the issue

animation playback without any enemies to hit

So this:

all fake

this is what Versus looked like at that time:

Not exactly fluid if you ask me.

Except it wan't. Versus had already ceased to exist at that time. It was Nomura's target for FF XV when he was still the director.

The "close to real" Versus battle system was shown in the 2011 trailer.

Way more fluid than any XV footage if you ask me.

He did, twice, they were Xbox 360 games and didn't have the FF name on them so people ignored them? LO is the continuation of PS1 FF that a lot of the fuckers who cry for one have never actually played, which is tragic.
There's your answer.

I guess I should have specified, I'd love to see him get another shot on an appropriate system and with a massive marketing budget backing him.

I don't see anything in that sliced up combat footage more fluid compared to XV. There's a difference in character gravity but that type of floatiness ala KH always felt weird to me.

oh ok that's cool.

I assume stuff like this is not the in the final game?

Nope, unfortunately.

Man the amount of money wasted on unused CGI with this game is pretty ridiculous.

Even more so since they look a lot better than the ones that made it into the game from what i've seen so far.

this scene still in?
maxresdefault.jpg

Nope :(

Why do people get offended when someone mentions the fact tgat versus was never a real game? I mean, the last we saw from it was fake trailer that was literally CG designed to look like gameplay with mock-up menus attached to it.

That's said, we saw many cutscenes of the versus project, which makes it fair to make comparasions imo. Most of the Versus cutscenes looked more interesting and were way better directed that any cutscene in XV that's not the ending or Luna's death.

These are probably the only two scenes that were well directed, the rest though is ... smh

Actually, serious question. Are there ANY Shakesperean influences or references at all? Cuz that had me really hyped.

Not that I am aware of, the whole thing about good and bad quote is thrown out of the window lmao.

Honestly, I can't get over how bitter I feel towards the story and how much things were thrown out or scrapped in favor of that open world that doesn't fit the narrative of XV. Well, at least I have the best character in all off FF, the bros literally saved the game and its ending for me. Can't wait for their DLCs ;P

It looks like floaty unfinished animation that wouldn't have made it into the final game or fit the more realistic aesthetic. , (especially the way the characters slide around)

(especially the way the characters slide around)
Except they still do in the final game, and pretty often too. :P It's even in cutscenes, starting with a hilarious sliding part in the opening moments of the game.
Lol it's going to be a high end mobile game because Sakaguchi doesn't want to lose to Kitase's Mobius. :P
Argh, hadn't even thought of that possibility. My old tablet can barely even run Terra Battle so I completely forgot high end mobile games even existed. :P
Was it ever said or hinted at that it's a mobile game? Well, whatever it is, I'm excited as long as it has a Gooch story and Uematsu music. :)

Haha so no gambit system? Everytime I brought up party control, the die hard stans always came for my neck cuz they were sure there would be a form of gambit system. Really what was the point of the party members in this game.

The fact that random NPCs in XII have better voice acting than main characters in XV is stunning. They couldn't shell out for decent voice actors?

I don't even think they are the issue, this game has seen several rewrites and as the past has shown us Yvonne Strahovski was great as Miranda in Mass Effect but in T3B....

It has to be something on Square's end and how they are directing these lines.

No I even edited my post so that people understand me better. I just said that people will complete this game AT ALL unlike Witcher 3 where was so much content that people didn't even finish it to this day. God damn.

Haha...I guess I missed the edit. Sorry!

I've never liked the Kingdom Hearts combat. Outside of not even liking the games in general, the combat just felt pretty eh.

That being said, I'm bloody loving the combat in this game!
I made a Judgement Disc Noctis combo concept video to show off some of the potential the combat has in this game.

So damn excited.

I've skimmed the thread and just 6 days ago there was a thread confirming dual audio, but has anyone here experimented with the audio and text settings? I've got the NA version preordered, but I was looking forward to playing it in Japanese as last minute practice for the N1.

Dual audio is confirmed, saw different streams with english and japanese and different subtitles.

dubtitles are very annoying. EVen with subtitles on you'll hear japanese directly opposed to the words on screen because the dub decides to say something entirely different for localization purposes.

I know its not feasible to have subtitles and dubtitles both in the game though...in that case, they didn't even really need to include the Japanese dub

I only spoiled the character deaths, the Leviathan battle, and the ending (+battles), and yet I still feel nervous about the story. If this turns out to be bad, I hope the character DLCs will save it for me. I'm already not in favor of off screen character deaths, let alone how Tabata handled Luna's character.

Don't have much hope for the story cause beyond what you already spoiled for yourself things just don't go anywhere really. I was extremely mad at how the villains were handled too, they introduced them and all of a sudden were either killed or reformed off screen. So yeah, your best hope would be the characters and their interactions because that's the only good thing about the story and they help make the ending matter. It's a rare occasion where I look forward to a DLCs of a game that I didn't like much of its story, really I am amazed at how the characters ended up carrying the entire thing for me lol.

what you have wanted to see for luna's character that you didnt see?

Well, at least Luna wasn't the only one who felt under-developed character wise. There is Cor, Aranea, Gentiana, Cid .. etc who didn't get much characterization or screen-time. I am actually astonished by how they missed out on a huge potential here, they have really good characters but they only bothered developing the main cast and ignored everybody.

Considering how awful the story in XV turned out I almost want to hate-play it for the sheer cringe factor.

Kind of like how I used to hate-watch Big Bang Theory. Sometimes you just want to see a train wreck first hand.

What happened to Cor in the end?

Nothing, they just left him when they were sailing off to Altissia and we never see him again. They mentioned he was still alive and kicking after the 10 year jump but you never get to see him again, yeah, wasted potential :'')

and this guy was on the poster in E3 2013. lol

It's like most characters in this game are as developed as Jihl Nabaat!

What happened to Cor in the end?

Nothing. Hanging out, hunting Deamons..

Now that I'm thinking about it, why didn't he and Iris joined you in the final battle?

Also, I don't remember seeing Luna's white dog outside of flashbacks. What's up with that? Maybe I'm misremembering something.

That's really disappointing.

She was in one cutscene next to Luna, and someone mentioned that she died after Luna died which left Umbra all alone. (that part actually made me tear up)

lol

Is this really the best they can do after four years of development?

There is a deep unsettling irony about Lightning receiving more character development than any of the characters in 15 considering she couldn't find her way out of a card board fucking box

Lightning has a huge fan base, a great design and an entire trilogy to herself. Can't say any of those will happen for Noctis.

Stay mad.

That is absolutely bizarre. I can't comprehend the fact that he of all people didn't die, it's by far the most shocking departure from expectations the game made. It'd have been so easy to kill him offscreen as well - are you sure you didn't miss a later line explaining that he'd choked to death on an unlubricated prawn?

At least just abandoning him leaves the door open for a character action spinoff with him and Aranea.

I guess it makes sense now why they never did a proper story trailer following 2013.

Yeah. And after they released the newspaper and radio announcement scenes I always had a very sour feeling in my stomach regarding the plot's execution and well

It sucks to be right

Oh yay! More off screen shit

Fuuuck

Yeah, it got annoying after they did that to most characters. You hear people talking about others after the ten years jump but you never see them Iris, Cor, Cidney, Cid. I am so disappointed it hurts xD

lol

Is this really the best they can do after four years of development?

From the trailer, they had more but for some reason were all scrapped/removed from the game. Shallow story/presentation doesn't even describe how I found the whole story was, WHERE IS THAT DAWN TRAILER GOD DAMN IT?

Nope, I am sure he didn't. I really thought that Cor would have a deeper role in the story, that somehow he'd be an astral in disguise or something, but nope.
