Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

The classic cinema rule of "they didn't die if we didn't see it" really doesn't apply to this game, because like, 95% of the deaths in this game are offscreen...

Don't destroy me like that :'')

I just hope XV is his last FF, give him a new IP the guy has potential but he's just not FF material.

I agree, I want him on something new because I really liked his previous work.

And Ravus too :S . I still can't accept what happened, let alone how the writers handled his character. They could've kept some people alive. But, so many character deaths remind me of Type-0 all over again.

I know! I hate that they have to kill every single on of them, not fair.

=====================

New cut-scenes? Is it time for me to repeat the game again?

In that case the ending sounds amazing to me. Tabata really wanted to make people cry at the ending, by going this route.

While I doubt Luna x Noctis' romance born of politics will be as fleshed out as Rose and Jack's fleeting romance on the Titanic, still sounds like a great way to go for the emotional jugular.
I feel like it's the opposite, that it is a cheap way to go for the emotional jugular.

If the romance is not well developed, why would a wedding scene be an emotional payoff? I feel like guys are all to easily sold on poorly written video game romances because the girl is always "got" with very little emotional effort. Tears over a cheap, preset romance is bizarre, when there is nothing organic about the decision to be as devoted as Luna is from childhood. From the beginning Luna was made to be an accessory to Noctis, rather than a character with agency over her own feelings. The 'prescribed bride' aspect of her character makes it even worse.

According to the anime, Noctis and Luna were in contact the entire time. So her feelings are justified even though its underdeveloped. In any case though, all supporting characters are underdeveloped, so it isn't a case unique to Luna.

Perhaps not, but it severely hampers a key emotional hook and story payoff.

Maybe, to be honest I was more sad at Noctis showing Luna the picture of the bros than the Titanic ending itself. That to me, was they key moment that broke me down and got me sobbing like a baby because it made the journey so bittersweet.

I love how they integrated it all. Because the picture he shows is actually the one we take so depending on the experience of each player, the picture will be different. I'd say it was perfect.

.....this isn't in the game right?

That look brilliant! Weird as fuck but brilliant!

edit:
@ Nya so it's not? That's a shame. Why isn't it and where is this from?

So I'm on the fence with this game. I originally tried the early demo on ps4 and was underwhelmed by how it controlled. Also, the IQ looked rather bad. Add the fact its a JRPG (I've never played any - don't shoot me lo!) and I'd decided to give it a miss.

Anyway, apparently the combat isn't turn based so I'm thinking of picking it up, maybe over Christmas. I also have a Pro and I believe there is stutter so I'm hoping it gets patched!

What does anyone think? Reckon not my type if I've never played a JRPG before? I'm initially drawn to it because of the fantasy/wonder and it's a genre I've not played.

Can we pls talk about how 6 chapters into the game, Luna has appeared in four cutscenes, one of which was optional, two of which were childhood flashbacks, and in one of which she didn't say a single word? Also that in one of those childhood flashbacks, she basically says that her entire purpose in life is to help Noctis?

"Luna is the keystone around which the universe of Final Fantasy XV revolves" --Tabata.

Lots more Luna to come. They save all her character development for the last handful of chapters.

You can always save your progress and head back to the earlier portion of the thread before tackling the end page...

just having some fun

Now that I can finally talk about the game: To anyone who's finished it, there's a secret dungeon near the Rock of Ravatogh that you can only access with the flying Regalia - look for a yellow line on the map and land there. You HAVE to do this dungeon.

It's one of the coolest things I've ever done in a game. Five hours of puzzle-platforming. Enjoy it.

But why? Cause you can still regenerate in dungeons now?

Your saves now will work with the new update. You just can't go back.

Wait wut? I'm on 1.01, if i update to 1.02 can i continue playing my save?? What do i loss then?

The game has crashed for the 3rd time at the Ravus fight, just near to kill, i use magic and it crashes.

I updated when I was at the end of chapter 13 and nothing happened, I continued as usual.

So you cannot leave dungeons instantly anymore is what i'm understanding here?

Man - loving the game so far, but a prologue set during the invasion of Insomnia would've gone a long way in building stakes and placing the conflict in sharper context. Would've also introduced a nice tonal contrast to the road trip sections that follow.

I know it's not good to let Versus XIII muddy expectations, but this is more than that. This comes down to a desire for dramatically sound storytelling. You're hearing about a conflict, but not seeing it. Not unforgivable, but far from ideal given that such a sequence was originally planned. Even with Kingsglaive, the experience of playing through 15's (otherwise great) opening sections feels strangely detached.

You lose nothing. Updated saves just wont work on older version.

I agree, I kind of think they were trying to pad out an already sized-down universe in the form of the anime, movie, and other stuff they have done for the FF XV universe, in an attempt to make it not look so downsized from the original vision.

How do you get the flying Regalia? I looked everywhere for the Niff base.

Man, I love Aranea. She's hands down the best character in this game. Too bad there is so little done with her character. She's sarcastic and funny, and Highwind is a bad ass special.

I also like Ravus a lot. In the end I looked different at him, he seemed to have come to terms with fate and actually never wielded his trophy... that was a cool detail. Too bad he's also being criminally underused.

So is iggy being blinded ever brought up or does it just happen and nobody questions it?

Just happens. I dunno, it reeks of DLC. All the bros have had their offscreen adventure.

I know Aranea questions it. Same with Noctis after Luna dies, but there's no explanation for it though. :/ .

I didn't get the game today, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow ;_; . At least I can play with the patches added. Hopefully there's a lot of extra scenes.

as anyone found a consistent way to spawn cactaurs? trying to obtain a cactaur needle and i have only gotten them to spawn twice in my 75+ hour play through. feels like like i should have it already since i'm pretty deep in. gigantaurs only drop jumbo needles. also location for sania's rainbow frogs? i looked everywhere with water nearby.

Guys check this out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17T5u4PAu7M

This is so cool.

It's a mystery disc demo from Japan's launch podcast, with added cutscenes, a fight with fat prompto and SE CEO Matsuda. It also features a festival themed area in Insomnia (I think it's in front of Noctis' house).

I have a hunch that this is the Holiday pack DLC extra we'll be getting in December. I'm happy we could at least explore Insomnia in its glory this time.

inb4 "this is more interesting than the actual game"

Quuuick question for people that beat it.

Can you list out the Royal Weapons? I'm missing one and I have no idea where it might be.

Extra cutscenes for the game? Or something completely unrelated?

So I'm hunting for Royal arms (postgame here) and certain dungeons have this door that I can't access? Any idea where do I get that key for the vault?

I heard itslevel 55 and above but I could be wrong? That was just a rumor.

Anyone on this question below?

Altissia is amazing. Do you need to fully explore it before proceeding past chapter 9 if you want to see everything or can you come back later?

Yes, you can come back later, but only in chapter 14 & 15, when you get umbra back. There will be this option when you rest/camp.

It's brought up, explained how it happens and is a big plot point for his character. There's a whole dungeon that makes you feel bad if you run ahead and leave poor blind Iggy far behind.
