I'm sure there were people who felt that way in 1995 but as far as consensus goes from where I was standing it wasn't until old school FF fans started losing their shit at all of the newbie FFVII fans invading their private jacuzzis that CT started getting so overrated. Before that it was generally more like "CT is really really good. Not FFVI good, but almost." Some old school FF fans turned on FFVII, then they turned on FF in general and glommed onto CT more than they ever had before. Again, this is just from my POV as someone who was in the thick of things back then.

Good time for video games when people had to argue about which 10/10 masterpiece was better.

I've decided to leave the game until we hear more about what updates they'll be making. I don't tend to replay games, at least for a few years so I don't mind waiting for the best version..

I was getting the feeling of a 7/10 game from the 8 or so hours i put in

I will be able to complete all of the side quests I don't do after I complete the game through New Game+ later this month when the patch arrives correct?

The point is that hardly anybody was arguing back then. People were so much on the same page, it was like the Twilight Zone. FFVII turned the World of Balance into the World of Ruin.

so last year i played all of the metal gear games so i could understand v

i've been playing this one already and i'm gunna finish it as i know they're not story related, but what is the best way to play each of the other mainline games?

i've only played 10~ hours of VII (which I own on iOS and PS4), 10~ hours of X (which I own on Vita and PS4), and I've completed XIII and XIII-2 but not LR but I own them all on Steam.

Are the mobile ports of the games any good?

I played through about half of the mobile version of IX earlier this year. It's a really good version (same as PC I think).

FFXV almost feels like a "Greatest Hits" of Final Fantasy with how much it references previous games, sometimes even just straight up ripping them off, but homages to almost all of them are all over the place.

It's a very nostalgic game, if the car radio didn't make that clear enough.

Stand by Me is the best FF theme song other than Melodies of Life.

Absolutely. Also a step in the right direction by leaving behind the jpop theme songs featured in previous entries and spinoffs. This game is doing so many things right and the paradox here is that the meh-things are all the left over from the Versus XIII project, see the main character design for example. I'm really curious about FFXVI now that they can build it from the sctatch.

Too Much is Never Enough is the theme song this game should have had :( It's so good.

So I guess that and I Will Be are never used? :(

Can anyone tell me with a quick yes or no answer if the version of Prelude that played in that one world of wonder trailer is ever used in the game?

For 1-4 you should go with the psp versions on Vita. 5 and 6 you can play the phone/PC versions if you don't care about the altered character models, otherwise you'll probably need to play the snes versions on an emulator.

For X I'd go with the PS4 version over the vita so you can hear the masterpiece original OST

yeah, I've played enough of the other ones to see how fan servicey it was, in a nice way.

cool, thanks! that might be a shout then.

Is there any reason NOT to just save scum the hell out of the
Totomostro Arena
? Seems like a much more efficient approach than actually honestly gambling.

It ain't XI's Distant Worlds.

btw, the music choices of XI and XIV are poor. We're are the Wings of the Godess/Heavensward tracks?

I just wanted this

and this

There's too much battle themes and not enough field themes. The later are better for driving IMO.

They couldn't even be bothered to include the Vanadiel March, yet saw fit to include like 20 songs from Dissidia nearly all of which are battle theme covers. Priorities all messed up.

thanks! do you think they're all still worth playing?

Battle themes would be cool if you could actually queue them up for battle. Taking on a horde of magitek troopers to Liberi Fatali is a distant dream.

Oh, that's good to hear. What is this New Game+ addition all about then?

New Game + implies ability to restart the game with most if not all of your stuff and possibly with scaled up enemy encounters.

That's not in the game. Ability to do continue playing in open world after the finale however is already in the game.

17ish hours in. Chapter 4, Lv. 27 I think. I hate these dumb, arbitrary sidequests, but I can't NOT do them. LOL I hate my personality sometimes...

Ooh, that'd be a nice touch. :)

Yeah that's weird, like they ignore a lof ot stuff past original and Zilart and yet they put the Abyssea tracks. I mean they are very good but they don't fit at all while riding a car lol

The absence of Windurst hurt me.

Windurst Waters. Dem feels.

I assume the MP3 players doesn't work while in battles, right?

It doesn't while riding Chocobos atleast. Wish it did, or atleast we could mute the track, already tired of it lol

Honestly 1-3 can all be skipped unless you really want to play the whole series. 4 is a pretty generic story but it's fairly short and has some iconic characters. 5 has a good battle system but a very forgettable world and story.

6-12 are all essential imo

I just realized something they could've fairly easily done, but didn't for some reason...

Ability to
add all guest characters to the party in post game. They are all alive, I did not find any significant side quests tied to either of them, and for whatever things they don't have comments for them, they could just stay quiet.

UPD; Not simultaniously, obviously.
