Battle themes would be cool if you could actually queue them up for battle. Taking on a horde of magitek troopers to Liberi Fatali is a distant dream.

I had a question about chapter 4

I'm about to head to the disc. The game not-so-subtly names it a point of no return. I have like a handful of high level sidemissions left. Will the area be unavailable for me once I get to the disc?

No, the game phrases this rather awkwardly. You can return to earlier parts of the world, it just means you are entering a linear bit of story content, and all side quests remain available after you finish the story bit you have started.

add all guest characters to the party in post game. They are all alive, I did not find any significant side quests tied to either of them, and for whatever things they don't have comments for them, they could just stay quiet.

Aranea shows up, but it'd be nice to have Iris and Cor show up on occasion too. I suspect that decision may have honestly been tied to the fact that Aranea can easily show up via her airship whereas Iris/Cor would have to just sort of spawn out of nowhere.

ive no idea how battling works on this game, against creatures around my level I'm not to bad just warping/attacking/blocking, but those Magitek soldiers with guns destroy my guys really quickly and I end up using loads of potions and the like just to keep going. Am I supposed to be ignoring them?

Nope, sure doesn't. Imagine my disappointment when the chanting kicked in only to be replaced by the usual battle theme as soon as the enemy's boots hit the ground.

I'm almost tired of the Chocobo track. Almost.

Yeah, I don't even like VIII, but VIII and X are essential for getting a full view of the series in its prime and understanding the influence it's had.

I hate VIII but you should eventually play it for how iconic some pieces of it are for JRPGs. X I feel is legitimately in the upper echelon of the series despite having a horrible main character. Auron might be the coolest character in the series.

From the start of VIII up until the end of the gardens battle (I think the end of disk 2) was probably the most I've ever been blown away by a game. Can't be denied that it drops off after that though, the orphanage is ridiculous and I don't particularly like Esthar, but it will always be my favorite in the series, just ahead of 6,9 and 10

Worse than those is level scaling. That's the reason the junction system is broken, because you can just run away from battles, leaving enemy stats low as fuck, all the while you continue to draw more powerful magic that you can junction to turn your characters into low-level gods.

My opinion of the FF games is there's basically the top tier of VII and IX, then the secondary tier with VI, Tactics, VIII, and X, and then the rest of them underneath that, except the MMOs which I haven't played.

I'm enjoying XV so far so I hope it can join that secondary tier. I don't expect it to join VII and IX in my mind though.

Absolutely. Also a step in the right direction by leaving behind the jpop theme songs featured in previous entries and spinoffs. This game is doing so many things right and the paradox here is that the meh-things are all the left over from the Versus XIII project, see the main character design for example. I'm really curious about FFXVI now that they can build it from the sctatch.

But Noctis is probably the best character design in the entire series.

New Game + implies ability to restart the game with most if not all of your stuff and possibly with scaled up enemy encounters.

That's not in the game. Ability to do continue playing in open world after the finale however is already in the game.

At least for me it was really cool to see the evolution of the series and I think almost all of them have something to offer players. Obviously there are ones that should probably be played after you get through some of the better ones, though. FF1-3 haven't aged the best, but that's to be expected, really. They're not bad, though.

I enjoyed them all for various reasons. I didn't really have an issue with 13 as I liked the combat a lot, I can't remember a thing about the story though. Same with LR.

I think it's just pretty bad there.

Some have said setting the camera to the closest option in settings helps a bit.

Ended up having to reload. I was in a circular room with the camera stuck directly above Noct's head, and the only way out was through a door I couldn't select. -_-

That's the first time the game's really gotten glitchy on me, aside from one time when Gladio became transparent for a little bit. lol

No way to move time forward either so all I can do is wait 20 minutes irl for day time again...
