Kinda takes the piss when you spend all ingame day climbing a mountain to take a photo only to be told it's slightly too nighttime when you get to the summit.

No way to move time forward either so all I can do is wait 20 minutes irl for day time again...

If you are talking about the volcano in the west, there is a camp literally 1 minute walk away where you can make it daytime.

Decided to go do some more hunting quests once I
got Umbra in Chapter 9 (still in Chapter 9) to travel back. When I got Cindy's call, I decided to check it out. Holy fucking shit at that son of a bitch! How much HP does that shit have?! I'm level 76 at the moment. I'll be back once I'm near 85 or something and with better gear cause holy shit!

Story may not be good but damn, am I enjoying myself at lot with the game. Nearly 70 hours in, more than double what I put in for XIII which I hated and didn't bother finishing.

I love how everyone at my work is just talking about how hype they are that SE decided to patch in the must needed story.

Then I just check on the internet and it's a dumpster fire.

Wouldn't be a FF thread without rankings, but they're fun

1. VII
2. VI
3. IX
4. XV
5. IV
6. XII
7. V
8. X
9. VIII
10. III
11. I
12. XIII
13. II

I don't play MMOs, so can't rank XI and XIV. I actually like X-2 more than X, but I don't know how to place it.

Is it the story/characters that makes 6 so good?

Going back to older 2D RPGs doesn't really do it for me in terms of gameplay, but if the story holds up today I'll definitely get on this soon.

Prompto pics may be the best thing in this game.

I took a look at all the pics I got and I already feft nostalgic lol

I'm getting the same thing, especially post-game. It's quite impressive how much they made me care for the bros despite all the story/writing flaws.

FFVI is timeless. Still best ending credits in the series.

IX > VI > VII, the *rest is good, but those 3 are standing out for me.

*of course 'rest' doesn't cover XIIIs, which was a mistake, it's nothing but trash.

There's a lot of nostalgia there for me with VI. I played it when I was a teen and it blew me away. It still has one of the best soundtracks ever written for a video game but I imagine the story and characters aren't as elaborate as more modern games.

(For for that time, they were groundbreaking and I still think many aspects of both hold up extremely well.)

Man, I suck so much at avoiding damage. Unless it's not mean to be avoidable?

Chapter 7:
Quezacoatl - holy fuck. Dude coats the room in lightning with no warning. I ate through six or seven elixirs that fight.

The story in VI is one of, if not the most, fleshed out story in the series.

VI has some of the same narrative problems that XV has.

And suddenly out of fucking nowhere, a ghost train! Aaaand never to be seen again.

But yeah, the game itself is great.

I'm still right before the end of chapter 8 and I wanted to try out some optional dungeons before setting sail. Does anyone have a good idea if I'm ready for Daurell Caverns? It's the dungeon in southern Duscae. The quest menu says recommended level is 28, the guide says recommended level is 30, and my characters are all level 39-40, but the first thing I see when I go inside are two level 41 Necromancers that almost kill me.

1) IX
2) XII (I am a weirdo)
3) V (even though I never finished it)
4) VI (see V)
5) VIII (huge nostalgia bias here)
6) IV
7) VII
8) I
9) X
10) III
11) II
12) XII

No MMOs in the list, and I also am not ready to place XV anywhere yet.

TBH, Tactics and Tactics Advance are my 2 favorite games in the series. I haven't played very many of the mainline games though. Of the games I have played:

1. Tactics Advance
2. Tactics
3. VI
4. XV
5. XII
6. VII

Haven't played any of the others.

I did Daurell at around the same level, have you been invested in the Health stat boosts on the AP grid?

Story, soundtrack, characters, set pieces, sprite art, battle system, I love all of it. I find the second half of VI drags just a little, but the first half is as good as it gets.

Kefka is the best FF villain, Dancing Mad is the best final boss theme. But I still like VII more.

I hate the fact that there are no looting chests (even XIII had those futuristic balls) but only a small red light. Same goes for minerals and ingredients.

Ill play...and rank

(1) FFVI (this is the answer, and I will fight anyone who disagrees :D )
(2) FFVII (begrudgingly...its importance to video games is a milestone)
(3) FFIX (oozes charm)
(4) FFXII (if only matsuno and square didn't fall out...an unfinished gem)
(5) FFIV
(6) FFVIII (an odd ball)
(6)
(7)
(Infinity)....FFX and FFXIII (while I understand some people love this....To someone who was 12 years old playing FFVI...to then playing FFX as a senior in college...its like Square took a j-pop piss all over my RPGs).

I did the first one, but the rest are all 99 AP or more and I usually start to get impatient when my AP gets to around 70 and end up spending it on other cheaper stuff instead lol

Can the rankings stop please?

It adds nothing to the discussion of Final Fantasy XV and it's so uninteresting reading everybody's lists really.

I think I'm gonna play Final Fantasy XV all night. I got the day off tomorrow anyway.

Yeah, I wish they were actual treasure chests instead of just lights.

Yes can we stop ranking the games and rank acording to battle themes? XV's battle theme is definately up there. I can't wait to get my hands on the OST.

I would say it's worth getting the second tier.

Also make sure you're using magic. Magic is overpowered and should be abused, those dungeons are no joke when you aren't super over leveled.

How long is the game? I've heard anywhere from 30 to 200 hours. I need to know becuase I have a few weeks off after final exams and only have enough money to grab one game. I want something really meaty with plenty of depth.

People dumping on FFIV. Have a heart.

Normally it seems like a person's first FF will always be their favorite. But in my case, in early 1992 I bumped into an old friend and mentioned to him that I had recently gotten an SNES. I hadn't played video games in like 7 years. He said "You should get this game called Final Fantasy 2. It's just like D&D, you'll love it" so I bought it. I figured I'd be creating my own characters from scratch, wandering around accepting and rejecting quests as I saw fit. I basically thought it would be 16 bit single player version of WoW. I wanted to choke him. I never would have played FFVI if I hadn't been mercilessly badgered into it by my new online friends at the time, promising me that I'd love it no matter how much I hated FFIV. They were right, mostly because I knew what to expect the second time around. I was able to appreciate FFIV a little more later on, last time I played it was the GBA port. But it's true what they say about first impressions.

Sorry to keep going OT. FFXV has made me more FF-nostalgic than I have been in years. =P

Yeah, that's pretty much it. As always it depends on how many side quests/hunts/exploration you decide to make. If you speedrun to the ending without doing ANY side content, I'd say around 25 hours or less?

Ramuh
decided to grace me with his presence for that fight. Which was really cool
thunder god vs thunder god. Ramuh oneshotted him.

I finished it in 50 hours and was lvl 52 which is quite overleveled, did lots of side quests and hunts. Still tons of stuff left to do. Lowest I've heard so far is 25 hours at lvl 40, but I bet there are some plenty lower than that.

I beat it at 25 hours doing a ton of sidequests, level 50 in the end.

I'm interested in seeing speed runs of this game. I could see people lining up xp dumps with chapter changes in order to stay leveled up.

Prompto is a perv sometimes >_>

I wonder how does rushing through and only doing the main story affect difficulty? I'm somewhat overleveled and certain story dungeons, namely chapter 7's (so far), were still pretty difficult for me.

What, how. Did you always fast travel everywhere?
