Hmm, is it possible to play most of the game without using a camp or inn? I'm thinking of limiting how much camping I do so I can hold off on stat gains I get from how much EXP the game gives.

It forces you to camp/stay at certain places and end of chapters tally up XP with no bonus.

Bringing a post from another thread in here. Have you guys ever run into the issue described below when playing FFXV in HDR?

Currently playing Final Fantasy XV with this TV on my PS4 Pro with HDR on and resolution set to high.

I am running into an issue where Noctis' character model becomes grey colored with Red cloudy outline around the model. This happens usually when the character is in motion.

This last only for a few seconds; hence it is hard for me to capture on my phone.

It only happens once in a while and it usually fixed itself after a few second.

Tried saving a gameplay video through PS4 shareplay, it does not capture this issue.

Not sure if this is due to my TV or the game. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

Watched Kingsglaive before I got started (UCE just got delivered yesterday) and WOOF. There are such great moments marred by terrible editing and a few utterly throwaway characters, but I came out of the movie really liking Luna's character, and I feel ready to dive into the game tonight. Overall though, I thought Brotherhood was way better. I think Kingsglaive would have made a better anime movie in the same style.

Are the Engine Blade and related quests bugged? While in Chapter 3 I learned that Cid can upgrade the "gear" weapons, so I went over to him and talked to him and upgraded the engine blade, the circular saw, etc. Apparently I had a bunch of materials from just tooling around in Chapter 3. I just kept talking to him until he started giving generic answers.

Now I have several quests from him in my quest log, and ALL of them say, in green, to wait some time. I have completed several hours of content since then, including hunts, side quests, resting at various camp sites and hotels, and all of those quests still say to wait. What do I need to do to trigger them?

Agreed 100%

Brotherhood was the only extra media that got me excited to play this game

only to be kind of underwhelmed at the moment so far with it lol

I dunno, I beat the game and most of those quests still never finished. He can only upgrade one thing at a time and it takes fucking forever, so I just didn't bother.

Holy shit, I managed to beat that lvl130 Naglfar, myself being lvl99. That took everything out of me, moreso than the Adamantoise. And I got the (presumably) best daggers in the game out of it, maybe now I'm ready for this lvl99 vault dungeon.

I looked around a bit and found this:

https://youtu.be/WtOTobUW2Kc

I'm going to try it out tonight when I get home.

Question: As I level up the Chocobos, I see a hint pop up that they can provide assistance in battle. How do I trigger that? I haven't seen them join any battles.

So i went to fight Adamantoise and... why is that camera so retarded? Can someone please explain to me how the fuck they released this game with that kind of shit going on?

Its literally impossible to understand what the fuck is happening. I am constantly looking at the interior of Adamantoise's polygon model.

Seriously am i doing something wrong here? This is embarrassing...

It was a crazy fight huh? I went through like 30 Elixirs on it. In the end I was only healing when my team got into Danger state, it wasn't worth topping up their health because they'd only lose it in seconds again! lol

Maybe I'm blind but is there a way to choose which song I want to hear in the car without having to skip through a bunch or can I shuffle?

You can hold left or right on the D-pad to skip entire albums, pressing down will change it between shuffle, repeat, or normal play. It will only shuffle between tracks on the same album, though, it won't go from Final Fantasy IV to Final Fantasy VIII.

Costlemark was awful. 3 fire giants and a snake thing in the room was the worst and basically made it more about having items than anything with combat.

Funny enough a summon triggered for me so the final boss was at least a pushover.

I watched an hour of gameplay and I'm really thinking about buying this. I wasn't even considering it until I heard positive feedback over the last few days.

I've beat VI-X multiple times and adore them all. i didn't play XI, only made halfway through XII before I gave up (I feel like I need to go back and replay this, but at the time I just wasn't feeling the changes to the "FF formula"), I didn't like XIII at all (linearity killed it for me, no I didn't keep playing till it opened up, I just couldn't bear it) and skipped XIV. Basically I haven't been an FF fan since X.

But after watching that first hour of gameplay in XV I really liked what I saw and started to feel excited about getting back into FF. All that being said, I usually only buy 2 or 3 games a year and I'm feeling like this will be one of them, but I wanted to hear from anyone else that was in a similar situation as me whether or not I should bite the bullet. So how bout it?

I think you should find a way to play FFIX first.
Oops misread, my bad.

But sure, go for XV. It's real open from the start unlike XIII. It's nothing like the old PS1 games though. If you buy this it's for the gameplay, definitely not the story. Also if you're near the end of the year and still haven't reached your 2/3 games a year purchase, then might as well get this one.

In GAF you will find very divisive opinions. From GOTY to "garbage fire". I highly suggest you read more professional reviews and watch some gameplay videos.

Fair warning: The game does have plenty of narrative issues, so if a well-told plot is essential for you, then just don't go expecting something polished here. Overall plot is cool, but the way it is told is pretty wacky.

Other than that, my best advice is: Don't believe GAF's overhype, and also don't believe the hate.

Change the camera to Far in settings. That might help if you haven't.

Talk to Cindy directly at the garage. One option lets you fix damage, the other is for customization.

This is another silly design decision. First time I used it, my car was all smashed up and I was like I'll do the customization since that should also include fixing up my car. LOL nope.. Car comes out of the garage with a nice new coat of paint and decals on a smashed up car. I had to re-enter the damn car to just have them fix it up. Why are these 2 separate things? lol

Let's be honest, it's pretty much like that in any FF discussion forum. Has been ever since FFVII released in the US. I've been playing FF since 1992 and been online since summer 1994, and when I think back to the 3 years I was going to FF BBSs before FFVII came out, it's like it was some bizarre Stepford Wives experiment or something. Everyone was nice and civil, trolls and flames were rare, hardly anybody deviated from the consensus that FFIV was better than FFI, and FFVI was better than FFIV, and that FFVI was the best RPG ever, period. Once in a while some dingus would pop in to say Lunar or Phantasy Star was 10x better than FF and would run away giggling. Those were the days.

FF6 is still the best one to this day IMHO :p

I'm almost certain my car gets auto fixed every time I customize. Will check when home, but I distinctly remember my car being battered, customizing, then selecting the service option afterwards only to be told "no derive required".

I could be wrong though.

Its possible there was something I missed in the menu after selecting customization. I'll also have to check when I get home, we'll see who finds out first! :)

I'll have to check but I probably didn't take a picture when it happened. I need to get better at doing that

Only for 9 months, until Chrono Trigger came out.

I'm sure there were people who felt that way in 1995 but as far as consensus goes from where I was standing it wasn't until old school FF fans started losing their shit at all of the newbie FFVII fans invading their private jacuzzis that CT started getting so overrated. Before that it was generally more like "CT is really really good. Not FFVI good, but almost." Some old school FF fans turned on FFVII, then they turned on FF in general and glommed onto CT more than they ever had before. Again, this is just from my POV as someone who was in the thick of things back then.

So the more I think about it, the more I like C
restholm Channels
. It felt like a true Final Fantasy dungeon. Lots of hidden loot and paths, branching path options, unlocking shortcuts, unlocking doors using switches in the level to progress, mini boss. It's the closest thing to a real Final Fantasy dungeon that we've had since I'd say FFIX. It's a shame they didn't use this level as a template for more of the dungeons, as most of the rest of them are a straight line to progress, more or less. It's also a shame that it's a generic
sewer theme.

I still have a lot of content left in the game, so hopefully there's more of this to come, but it's still great to see that feeling of truly crawling a dungeon come back in FF.
