Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Cindy was a sweetie. wish she had a more substantial story arc instead of just fixing your car.
I didnt mind the entire cast of sub characters. None of them had enough screen time at all for me to hate or like them. I feel like for the females Cindy, Aranea, and Iris had a lot of potential to be really enjoyable characters with how they are set up. Luna is a lost cause

They were all equally generic, IMO.

I liked Aranea's design quite a bit, though.

Hah, I adopted this username in quite a few places cause I was hyped. But you know... the dream is dead right now. The biggest lie? When Tabata said Luna is the keystone to FFXV. Like.... what does that even mean if she dies after her speech?

Wow, that's a bigger gamble than any preorder...

It's ok, there were a lot of xXxSePhIrOtHxXx usernames 20 years ago. You'll survive.

Lol, as edgelord as that is, at least Sephiroth is an iconic, beloved character.

Change it to Lunafreya NOT Fleuret

Ahahahahahahaha

I'll see myself out

Well he wasn't lying about that. Without Luna getting the ring to Noctis and giving him motivation to go on and fulfill his role, Noctis would have never accomplished what he did. I was actually okay with their only time together being during the Rite of Leviathan, I just think they should have had some more exposition between her and Ravus so they both were more fleshed out. Ravus definitely needed more given the stark contrast between his behavior in kingsglaive and most of the game vs the end when you learn he was supposedly good.

Ravus Aeterna is lowkey best theme in game. Shame it implies a much deeper character than the story shows though.

So she's just a delivery lady? I thought the Oracle was supposed to be very important and built around the world of the game. They made it a very long and painful process to care about her and then Altissia she is swiped off the map. Like, wow... how can I care after that? Keystone to me implies she's built around the people and world of XV, not a delivery girl. We see so little communication between Gentiana and her that it is hard to care about it all.

I've seen this sentiment a lot and I cannot help but agree.

Ifrit phase III theme, especially the ending, is just...wow.

Hydraen's Wratha and Apocalpysis Aquarius too. And Cosmogony is fantastic.

Cape Caem sounds like something straight out of Chrono Cross (in an awesomely good way...that OST is god tier).

So many good ones. Glad I told the wife to get me the special edition OST bundle for xmas.

The whole Ifrit piece is amazing. I was listening to the last part while working yesterday and kept dancing on my chair, lol.

Add me to the list of people loving Ravus Aeterna.

I'll need to watch a LP of the Ifrit fight again. Barely paid attention to the music while trying to survive.

Did anyone else notice when you camp at the area right before the Malboro fight, that Prompto was holding a large katana and it looked like he's was going to give it to Noctis but he doesn't - what's going on there?

Let me tell you guys why all the fights were pretty easy for me:

HiPotions and Elixers x50. Occasional Megalixer or buff items.

Enhancement.

Wait Mode.

I only got one game over the entire game and that was very early. Bros didn't die too often, either. First aid helped a lot there.

I still have a ton of ascension grid spots locked, mostly the ones that were 99 or up. I have no idea how you could get more than a couple of those 333 abilities.

But I also never unlocked any of the AP bonus abilities. I figured the net gain would be low because i wasnt really doing sidequests or endgame stuff.

I feel like we should know who Bahamut is but I have no clue. The scene where he looks at you is so weird.

Back when the ending leaked without context people were losing their shit because Bahamut has very feminine eyes and they were convinced it was Aranea. I still think it's a female with a manly voice lmao. Those eyes are too fabulous.

It's not Aranea but I'm 99% sure it is a woman.

Which would make sense since Bahamut gets the shaft like every other female in this game.

The hilarious thing is people not even understanding that the 'statue' is actually Shiva's corpse is the perfect proof of how utterly inept this game's story is far too frequently. It's madness that the empire killing Shiva is relegated to an optional, easily missable radio report out in the world. I'm not saying we should see the fight - I think it's more impactful to just see the corpse - but really it should've been something discussed by the cast in an unmissable scene, given its importance.

i only half assed paying attention to the story and i'm pretty sure at one point they even call it a corpse in the game. not sure how you'd miss that

Same. The only reason I second guess is because i'm 99% sure the guy with wings in the mural is Bahamut

I don't know if we can trust the mural anymore, though.
Just like how they retconned the logo into being Luna.

The murals and the Big Bang artwork showed all sort of Seemingly-Astrals that didn't make it into the game. Although Ultros cameo'd in the movie.

Does anyone remember that Tabata said the villain would surpass all ff villains? While Ardyn was very evil, he wasn't Kefka levels of bad. He's definitely not surpassed Kefka for me. Stabbing a helpless woman just makes him like Sephiroth to me but more evil. I don't feel he was quite up there in villainy

To me, he felt like a mashup of every villain FF has had so far, but surpassed none of them. What's even worse is how Ifrit is supposedly the actual big bad but hell if the game lets you know this. First time I played through I just figured Ardyn could summon ifrit for some reason.

I don't know, the mural still seems to make complete sense in the game we got, plus it is actually IN the game. The king and his 3 friends, guarding from daemons with luna the oracle guiding them. Old kings in the background and what astrals do not make it into the game in the mural? I see Levi, Bahamut, titan, Ramuh and Shiva. Only missing one seems to be ifrit for good reason. It may be retconned with the luna part but the rest still seems pretty solid.

He wasn't Kefka but he was one of the better FF villains in a while. Wish we saw more of him manipulating the Imperials. I loved his origin cuz it made him such a tragic figure.

This game could have really used an updating datalog like XIII. I hated how there were just a paltry four entries available from the tutorial. I would have liked to have some of the lore for reference beyond those Cosmogony book entries and occasional text notes. Some of the stuff in chapter 9-13 came so quick and I never had a chance to absorb it the way I would have liked to.

Just beat the game last night at around 35 hours and loved it but some things felt rushed towards the end. Timeskip was wasted because I never had a chance to experience the world of ruin outside a ride in a truck and wandering through the ruined resort town. And the logic of putting the Ifrit boss and timeskip at the very beginning was incredibly dumb. Were they thinking they had to show something "cool" at the beginning to get people's attention? All it did for me was lessen the impact of when it actually happens.

Ardyn was an awesome villain though. His taunts during Chapter 13 made it seem like the VA was having a damn good time with his role and it showed. Overall his performance impressed me the most and was glad to see how much of a presence he had in the story.

Finally finished the game and I loved it. Not my favourite Final Fantasy, but it's up there. The post credits scene was fantastic. I love the updated logo as well.

I'll be starting playing the post-story stuff tomorrow, but I have a few quick questions:

Do you get Ifrit and Bahamian as summons in the open world?

Do you keep EXP/level/items when you go back in time?

Is there a certain point in time I should go back to or is it automatically chosen?

Similar thoughts. Played all the mainline games and would put it at 6. Ff4-7 and 9 would be above. Unfortunatley it's weakest point was my favourite point which is the story hence the middle ranking.

I don't think being evil is what makes you a good villian. Pure evil is actually pretty boring. Ardyn works for me because he is tragic and charismatic. A lot of FF villians fall pretty short to me.

FFVII has all the good ones, though, and they aren't Sephiroth.

He wasn't Kefka evil but he also had a better backstory than Kefka that makes him more sympathetic.

Out of the mainline FFs I'd put him in the top 3 villains.

People were saying they wouldn't want/couldn't have another XV but I'd be just fine with a prequel detailing Ardyn's divine quest and his ultimate abandonment/banishment by the Gods. His voice actor is soooo good too. It obviously won't happen because I don't think the game will manage to sell as well as XIII in the long run but.. fingers crossed.

No to Ifrit and Bahamut.

Yes to Exp/levels/items

Automatic.

Did anyone else think Ardyn's VA kind of sounded like David Bowie?

I never turned on wait mode; just spammed hi potions and elixers. I think I literally used 5 phoenix downs the entire game, and never got a game over. :\
woulda been a whole different game if they didn't make hipotions and elixers dirt cheap IMO

Ardyn was a better Kefka. He had reasons for what he was doing and wasn't a shallow Batman Joker level villain (that is what Kefka was, only in a fantasy universe). Out of all the storytelling woes this game has, it did get its villain right. His creepy daemon form was appropriately unsettling, as well.

Yeah... wait mode is more about making the camera and mobs easier to manage.

I also only used about 5 PDs.
