Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

The only way I'd compare this game to Xenoblade is in how Xenoblade does basically everything much, much better. Which is especially shameful for XV, as Xenoblade came out before proper development really started and they took no lessons from it.

Aside from the narrative, what did XC really do significantly better?

The combat in XC is slow, lacks spectacle, and is really formulaic. Plenty of moves that would be useless if not for long cooldowns.

The sidequests are probably the most ridiculous thing in the game. Characters throw 20 of them at you in every village and 90% of them are just fetch/kill quests with no window dressing.

The worlds are kind of a wash for me. XC had those annoying collectibles that were, iirc, randomly spawned with some environmental factors. It did have some cool side monsters, but most of them were pointless.

I will definitely give XC the towns. XV is fairly threadbare in that department. I really hated the timed NPC part of XC, but that's a different issue.

Music is more subjective, but I prefer XV's OST.

Characters? I suppose it depends on how much you liked the bros but it could really go either way for me. Obviously the side characters all needed more screentime in XV.

Interesting. Badass. Female

The big Tabata no nos. We'll see with the DLC. At this point I expect Cor and the hour original heroes (Cid, Regis, Weskham and that other dude) before a woman.

I mean, Aranea was a poll dancing panty mook boss without a name in the Versus days. Tabata is the one who upgraded her to the role she has and gave her that personality.

Like XV has a lot of problems with its writing in general and especially girls but the only reason she became anything interesting at all is because of him. I really doubt he would be opposed to doing something with her because she's a girl, it goes against literally everything he did for the character.

Can you link me the source on that? Aranea's about the only character I enjoyed in the game, so I'd like to read more on her before Tabata became director.

Me too. I really hope the added content for him isn't too far away... I'm going to be sad though if they show cutscenes of him being a good guy and then what happened to him during the events of chapter 13 :( . Still sucks he died.
I think that's exactly what they're gonna do. Probably more scenes of him worrying about Luna, and his feelings during the invasion. That sibling relationship was really lacking in the base game.

Yo I just thought. His demon infection is on his left side, he also has a Magitek arm on that side. Magitek is powered by demons no? I bet you guys his arm turned against him and killed him.
That's what I think, too. I wonder if he accepted that arm knowing it would do that.

As someone else pointed out, Ravus here looks like a combination of
Cieth Snow
from LR mixed with the Uroboros slime from RE5 (missing the worm like postules).

Come on. Really? LR isn't that old you know.

I was under that impression as well, but I'm not sure if there was actually evidence to base that conclusion on. This is the most concrete thing I can find from then, if it's accurate.

-Famitsu: Ahh, there was a Dragoon-like woman who appeared in the trailer wasn't there? She thrust her spear into the ground and spun around.

-Nomura: She's a villain so she'll appear repeatedly after that point. She's part of a special group within the military so her armor is different from the norm, her's is very striking.

This doesn't describe anything that different from her role in the actual game. The pants were a quantifiable change from the original's battle panties, though. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether it was for the better or not.

Just beat the game. The end game was good until Prompto didn't get inside an elevator and wasn't in any of the ending cutscenes even though he was still talking/being spoken to lol

Really, what was even the point of collecting the summons? Leviathan, Ramuh and Titan don't even do anything in the final battle. Shiva and Bahamut give you their blessings in story scenes and they just appear at the end to fight Ifrit. Why is Luna spending the whole game killing herself to make these covenants when they really don't mean shit?

kiaaa: I'm writing up some stuff re: Xenoblade and XV now

Come on. Really? LR isn't that old you know.

It's three years old and this thread has open spoilers for other Final Fantasy games. The ending of LR has already been discussed in this thread, if you don't want spoilers for old FF games, this isn't the thread for you.

There wasn't really anything on her at all before Tabata took over, people just called her "Dragoon Lady" and saw her do a pool dance thrust in crotch pants

People thought she had been removed from the game like Stella till she showed up in that ATR.

Can't find the source for saying she got her role upgraded from boss fodder, which is annoying but I'm positive its been mentioned a lot, might have been Kagari. But Tabata definitely did tone down the fetish stuff with her. Just compare that dragoon jump to the one in the actual game.

I don't care about her panties. I'm just a sucker for the edgy, dark, morally grey badasses who turn out to be softies. Been that way for years! I blame Dias from Star Ocean 2. I really, really enjoyed Aranea. The more I can read about her, the better!

Since the game doesn't give me much!

Time to work my Google fu. Glad she's been upgraded from a boss fight though. Despite her limited screentime (too limited) I still enjoyed her arc better than any of the bros.

They should skip FFXV-2 and go straight to Aranea Returns where its revealed that the world at the end of Lightning Returns is FFXV world long time ago.

Lightning changes her hair color to white and her name to Aranea.

I thought we would've at least had a chapter to fuck around in the World of Ruin. Was disappointed when you have to go straight to Insomnia from Hammerhead.

Is there a single Demon Wall enemy outside of the World of Ruin? Seems like either a massive waste or a hopeful sign.

Come on. Really? LR isn't that old you know.

Someone posted the image of what I described on the last page, and as someone else stated, this thread has spoilers for tons of other Final Fantasy games.

Also LR has a bad story anyway so don't worry you're missing out on nothing.

Yes it's a hunt.

In the third screen you can see some ruins/structures in the back. I'm guessing that's a place that you could explore before it got cut.

You just have to take a look at the map of the linear part and see how much detail some of the locations you just pass by for a few seconds have.

Damn it makes me so sad to know they had to cut quite a lot of stuff.

Yeah, I'm really sad just by looking at those. Altissia was my most hype thing about this game. Just imagine exploring it in full.... it would be the best city in a Jrpg by far. Those beautiful waterfalls, etc.

He literally isn't in the game. He dies before the game even starts. Lol

It's all jenova.

And...if you think about the final battle, it was all in cloud's head.

I feel like this has been disproven countless times before. Alas, I lack any evidence therein, and you sound fairly convinced, so I'm not going to try countering it, heh. Preeeeetty sure there's canon cause to say otherwise, though.

Here's what I know: Sephiroth is alive, up by the Whirlwind Maze. He's alive until the very end. All I can do is implore you to check for sources, because I've seen this argument so many times and I know this is how it always ends.

Isn't Jenova technically the main villain for most of the game? As in all the time you see Sephiroth it's actually just Jenova (including the skewering of Aerith)? Also I think this was confirmed but was it Sephiroth who controlled Jenova or the other way around?

It was Sephiroth in control.

I actually prefer the idea that JENOVA is playing him the whole time -- it doesn't diminish his coolness to me one bit. But it has been confirmed that he ends up playing her.

Anybody gotten into late endgame stuff yet? Just getting started on the optional dungeons myself. How deep does this stuff go? Still haven't unlocked the secondary doors yet in the dungeons, curious how good that content is.

Fact.

Sephiroth gets killed by a pre mako infused cloud.

The same weak ass cloud who couldn't get into soldier.

But that's the fanboys favorite villain.

Lol

I uh. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove.

A villain doesn't need to be strong for me to like them. And frankly, claiming people enjoy his character because they're fanboys is as old and twice as irritating as the people that holds true with.

I'm saying he's not a good character and people only like him because he looks cool.

Okay.

Whether he's a good character or not is subjective. I can confirm at least one person does not like him merely for his appearance, however. I don't think he looks all that cool.

Cool. Wrong thread for this too.

Anyways.

Back to ffxv spoilers.

Why would anyone (ardyn) want to be the chosen king?

If he was destined to die, the old kings did him a favor.

I think that's exactly what they're gonna do. Probably more scenes of him worrying about Luna, and his feelings during the invasion. That sibling relationship was really lacking in the base game.

It was, and that was one of the things that irked me the most because the whole game was about "bonds". I would've liked to know how Ravus and Luna took care of one another after their mom died. Were they separated most of the time? Were they estranged like how Kingsglaive portrayed them to be? Or did they look out for another? They made an anime, movie, and a game, and didn't bother to cover anything about their relationship post Manor invasion. But, they covered everybody else...

You know when I read about the secret dungeon, I was half expecting a dungeon from one of the 2D games reimagined into new age graphics glory.

So much for that. Lol

Yesssss. Excellent place.

It would have honestly been a lot better if you could reposition noct a LOT better on those small parts.

That after credits camp fire still has me shook

Edit: it's really weird to go back and hear some of the compliants. The end game logo? Seriously guys?

I love the end-game logo change.I'm a real sucker for having stuff on the main screen that signifies completion of the story. Stuff like Ellie's knife in TLoU are the same :)

These optional dungeons for Royal Arms should be in main game. If they forced people to get all the Armiger weapons, would've made more sense for the story and also more content overall. Didn't make sense why Noct had the weapons when you killed Ardyn at the end. I'm glad I played through them post-game tho.

What old kings do you mean? As I'm pretty sure Ardyn was to be the OG king, there was nobody else before him. As for why, who knows? Maybe he was actually a great person who wanted to save the world, but subsequent events clearly destroyed that.

I feel this way, but in reverse. I hated XBX, and its storytelling and gated off gameplay was even worse than this game.

Unless you literally mean Xenoblade, as in the first one. There might be a case for that (as XB has a very strongly told story despite its huge and open world)
