Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

That new title screen. That logo. That airbrushed sexy Noctis. That woman that's clearly not Luna pretending to be Luna.

My god. It's hideous. Make it go away. Please tell me I can make it go away!

Now that I'm done with the story, and I go back to the open world, are all those locked dungeon doors unlocked? And can I go back and replay the end (game implied I could). And if you can replay the end, can you get another certificate of completion? Because I kind of want one with my Cup Noodle picture.

Sealed dungeons unlock once you beat all the dungeons and talk to the old lady in the Hunter HQ. You can replay the end, but I dunno about the certificate of completion. I assume you can redo that as well.

There's a key for these doors, after you complete the dungeons. A NPC at the hunter HQ nears the Vesperpool gives it away.

Hahahaha. The ending scenes of FFXV, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn's main initial story, and Lightning Returns: FFXIII have the EXACT SAME FUCKING MOMENT
Ardyn (FFXV), Lahabrea (FFXIV), and Bhunivelze (FFXIII) all die EXACTLY THE SAME WAY

Thank God that's over. Nothing but disdain for this fucking thing. The more I played, the more heartless and horrible it was. What a clusterfuck. Tabata should stay as far from the series as he can.

I'm playing a few hours each day now. If I get the Platinum quickly i'd feel like there would be nothing to do after waiting for 10 years for this game.

Holy shit, you're not wrong.

Honestly the game got even better for me in the end game. Cooler monsters to kill and the optional dungeon are awesome.

I mean, why even play something you hate that much. Are you a masochist or something?

Uhhh, why are you spending all that time to platinum a game you hate?

God yes. And every time it shows that psn no recording message appears.

I also realized that Luna stays the same and Nocto is now 10 years older than her in the married afterlife.

hahaha

Well they did die 10 years apart. He's also only 6 years older than her at that point. She older than him from the start.

I'm starting to feel burned out tbh. I still very much like the game, and think it does some things extremely well (as has been said, super high highs, and super low lows), but doing hunts and side quests has gotten a bit boring since I just have this huge backlog of weak quests from the early game to slog through.

I was thinking of doing the vault dungeons, but honestly idk now.
I think i'll wait for prompto's dlc and whatever updates happen before fully jumping back in and replaying the story.

So they have something to post about? Though really. Don't know why people subject themselves to such things myself.

I paid 80 bucks for it, and I'm poor. Might as well enjoy it as much as I can. Furthermore...it's not a terrible game. I mean for me, it was but...I can see a lot of people enjoying it. Especially if you like the 4 characters. Me, I hated the idea of 4 dudes from Day One, and the final game just made the issue worse.

Not buying any FF games in the future, unless women are playable.

Wow. I haven't felt like a little kid playing a game since maybe Xenoblade Chronicles in '11. This was an amazing ride from beginning to end, something that only FF can deliver.

I'm SO happy I went into this game pretty much blind aside from a few of the official trailers (obviously besides the OG reveal and stuff).

I'm a bit sad that the endgame was so rushed though. If I remember correctly, Nomura wanted to break the game up into multiple installments.

I'm still trying to figure out what the remnants of the Fabula Nova Crystalis Mythos was. I feel like there were some hints at L'Cie being in the original story process. Like when Prompto had that mark or whatever. Can anyone expand on that?

Overall, I LOVED this game. That campfire scene in the end. Fucking damn.

This game was everything I wanted it to be. A story about bros. Their good times, their conflicts, the camaraderie. Everything. I don't think any other FF could impact me the way this one did. It was the best example of friendship in the FF games I can remember.

Maybe FF6 comes close.

I was really disappointed with FNC removal, especially after Tabata said it was still in:
"We didn’t take the FNC too much into account when developing FFXV mostly because the world of FFXIII and FFXV are completely different. And I think with each FF title people want stories that can be experienced on its own without much background knowledge or something like that so keeping the FNC myth from FFXIII onto FFXV wouldn’t be a very good idea.
—Hajime Tabata in a video interview during Barcelona World Games 2016 with HobbyConsolas

There are two main reasons for [using the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos]. The first is that the world of FFXV was originally designed with these elements and links to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology in mind. When we came to reajust the game and change it from Versus XIII to XV, we felt it was much better to keep them in there and incorporate them in a very natural way, rather than try and remove all of them at any expense. We'd lose a lot of the world and its attraction if we did that. But why we decided to remove all the specific terminology from FFXIII was because, if you start the story and we introduce these words and ideas from the start, people will think it's still very much part of the FFXIII world. So you'd lose some of the identity as FFXV, and we really want to avoid that. Instead, we decided to not use this specific terminology and to introduce the language of the game in an easy and understandable way, that anyone can follow when they get into the game from there.
—Hajime Tabata in an interview during the 2015 Gamescom event, as recorded in English by Finaland.

Some things seem like they still took stuff from FNC. The whole gods manipulating/choosing people and the starscourge looking like chaos etc.

Hmm, so I'm guessing that the Prompto mark, and turning into demons are allusions to FNC without using words

Poor Ravus. Can't wait to see what cutscenes they'll add to give him the development he needs.

Finally finished this game. I know bashing Luna is the popular thing, but to jump on the bandwagon I'm frankly amazed that after setting up Luna so much she never, not once, exchanges even a single face to face conversation with Noct. Like your interactions with her boil down to THREE text-exchanges, a very distant flashback and some trippy dream-sequence.

I don't know why these people like each other. I don't know if there's any chemistry. I'm just supposed to accept that Luna is some summoner-jesus who cares about nothing but helping Noctis? There's so many ways they could've at least added some semblence of character. Some random NPC late in the game mentions she likes collecting stickers. THERE, some stupid fetch quest system you can already use! Collect stickers in Lucis and trigger some canned flashback related to the sticker between Noctis and Luna. Show the two of them talking about something BESIDES the fate of kings or mythology. Have Luna send you, ya know, actual letters when the dog appears. Just a few paragraphs to help establish her character. Have a fake date in Altissia. Something besides the nothing that we got.

And this is frustrating cause I think the game's biggest strength is properly setting up MOST of the emotional moments. Ignis going blind was great. There's multiple lines in sidequests that focus on his eyes or his glasses. He's always treated as the character with the most foresight. That camp trip where you can only eat beans or cup noodles was great since it even tied in the gameplay. Ignis being an escort mission was really annoying but thematically very appropriate.
Gladio becoming an ass to you was also set up. There's plenty of scenes where he gets impatient with Noct, or tries to motivate him to reminding him of duty.
Hell I still don't understand why or what Ardyn was trying to do, but damned if the game doesn't do a good job of making me hate that asshole.
I just wished they did something similar to the "romance", considering how much it's the driving force of most of the story.

The only way I'd compare this game to Xenoblade is in how Xenoblade does basically everything much, much better. Which is especially shameful for XV, as Xenoblade came out before proper development really started and they took no lessons from it.

Poor Ravus. Can't wait to see what cutscenes they'll add to give him the development he needs.

Me too. I really hope the added content for him isn't too far away... I'm going to be sad though if they show cutscenes of him being a good guy and then what happened to him during the events of chapter 13 :( . Still sucks he died.

Speaking of DLC though, I wonder how many times we'll have to play this game to get the full story. Besides the bros getting their own DLC, wasn't there something planned to flesh out the story more and then Ravus? Or are they going to be one in the same?

The phrasing makes it clear he wants to enhance the entire second half. He uses Ravus as one example.

Ok.

Beaten.

Damn. Platinum'd for that matter.

Hear are some of my initial thoughts.

Game starts off strong. They miss the mark on a couple things, like giving Cor more screen time or history.

This happens a lot with this game. The story feels like it took a back seat during development.

The 4 bros interactions are great. I really enjoyed my 80 hour car ride with these guys.

Shame they don't have much backstory. We know who they are and they pretty much stay that way.

Gladio gets a scar! By who? Ah. Don't worry about it.

This is an example of something the game does a lot. It presents something you think might foreshadow a story arc, but nothing comes from it.

Like the one quest entitled, "I killed the king" or something...that should have been a showdown with Glauca? (Sp)

The leviathan and adamantoise fights are gawd awful. Boring even.

Speaking of leviathan, that whole seen irked me.

What was the purpose of Noctis being in altissa anyways? Ardyn should have just had the empire kill all the summons. They had freaking airships. They killed the rest fairly easy. Titan was just chilling holding a meteor, pretending to be atlas or something.

Did it even matter if noctis collected the summons? He was never going to get all of their blessings anyways, because of ifrit. I dunno. That plot didn't make sense.

Ardyn was ok. Better than most recent ff baddies I guess, but to be honest ff has had a shit ton of horrible bosses. Sephiroth was not a good villain people. Lol angsty mommas boy.

The ending was nice. My picture really screwed up the last scene though.

I chose Vye's fat ass as my picture and it legit made me lol.

Oh gawd. Tgat new logo is awful. Make it go away!

Ravus, and everything about the empire was awful.

Ch 13 was grating, but I kinda enjoyed how different it was. It did get annoying though. Maybe cut out 3 floors or something. Lol Ardyn's harassment was fun.

Battles are fun, but man u wish the camera didn't go haywire during the bigger baddie battles. I wish the target button was just a single click, and you didn't have to press it down.

What I didn't like was how little you bad to do to get the platinum trophy.

I didn't get all the fish or recipes, had numerous hunts left and still needed to beat a lot more bonus dungeons.

The lack of a bestiary or dictionary hurts too.

The game as a whole feels super rushed.

Which is really weird, because it's been in the making for 10 years. Lol

I hope these new patches fix things, because this has potential to be great.

The 3 guests need more screen tine. Aranea should be a permanent party member.

Ah well. I'll check back after more info about these fixes gets revealed.

Sephiroth was not a good villain people. Lol angsty mommas boy.

Ehhh. I've tried time and again to see this perspective on replays. I'm confident in saying that, for me, he works very well, and it isn't just nostalgia speaking. I think he's the best villain the franchise has had, possibly the genre. :P

He literally isn't in the game. He dies before the game even starts. Lol

It's all jenova.

And...if you think about the final battle, it was all in cloud's head.

Isn't Jenova technically the main villain for most of the game? As in all the time you see Sephiroth it's actually just Jenova (including the skewering of Aerith)? Also I think this was confirmed but was it Sephiroth who controlled Jenova or the other way around?

Yo I just thought. His demon infection is on his left side, he also has a Magitek arm on that side. Magitek is powered by demons no? I bet you guys his arm turned against him and killed him.

He literally isn't in the game. He dies before the game even starts. Lol

Uh not true. He gets thrown into the lifestream sure, but he doesn't die. Sephiroth is the one controlling Jenova throughout the story until we meet the real Sephiroth in the crater up north.

As someone else pointed out, Ravus here looks like a combination of Cieth Snow from LR mixed with the Uroboros slime from RE5 (missing the worm like postules).
