Ah very cool!

Now I'm really curious to what they'll do after Han Solo.

Although, that'd be after the end of episode 9 so maybe they'll start a new series or continue with young Solo if that's a huge hit.
It was supposed to be Boba Fett but that's seemingly been scrapped, they're also considering doing Obi Wan but there's a rumor that
he might show up in the mainline films
which is why they're holding back.
But I don't think any single anthology film is getting its own separate series

If the Clone Wars show ever gets good, I never got to that part. It's a Saturday morning show for kiddos for at least a dozen hours, I forget when I gave up.

Doesn't help that the movie that kicks it off has a lot of farting baby jokes.

Ah, all those episodes about bank regulations sure enthralled children.

Not a bad movie, actually surprisingly good. I actually kind of wish this is what Star Wars 1 was to begin with, excising all the supernatural force stuff, acrobatic lightsaber nonsense and such.

I was enjoying the movie far more before vader showed up and reminded me this was a Star Wars movie and not just a science fiction story of a band of rebels against a tyrannical government type blowing shit up.

Of course that's just the view of a viewer who is somewhat disconnected from star wars in general and not really a core fan.

Yeah, I agree. Loved a lot of the old pre-2005 Clone Wars, I hated that it was all overwritten and nothing from the show seemed better.

A continuation of some of the worst elements from ROTS with the battle droid humour. Grievous was absolutely awful. Simplistic characters, dialogue, stories. Like a lot of people I hated Ahsoka. Even the Boba Felt episodes were bad. A Jar Jar episode. Dooku Captured. And Maul with spider legs...

One thing I will say is I actually liked the Mortis episodes. And Season 2 had a couple of OK clone episodes. Maybe I'll give the last couple of seasons a chance.

I hope you're only referring to the movie, or at least one of those people who only saw a couple of early/bad episodes.
Referring to at least the first few seasons. They sucked.

Whenever I hear people speak favorably about the clone wars show, I can't do anything but remember how the movie was one of the worst things i've seen in my entire life. Truly disgusting.

Since we're on the topic of Clone Wars.
Grevious is fuckin weird
'hey im an alien, now I'm a cyborg and I'm going to crawl around on ceilings and shit because why not'

And then it becomes a show with a whooooole lotta murder. Like... a lot of murder.

Grevious is seriously one of the worst bad guys in the SW universe. I thought he'd be redeemed in clone wars but it was just more of the same.

I guess that's how it started, at least.

You are absolutely right.

Also Anakin goes into an interrogation room and after realizing his force mind powers won't work. Decides to just beat up the guy and force choke him to give him information. Shit gets dark.

Use the episode guide that is floating around. I skipped most of the early seasons to get to the good later stuff. Mandalore is the standout.

Child murder, multiple decapitations, torture, death by flamethrower, entire arcs focused on the military industrial complex and financial institutions.

Kids stuff!

Also the best romance in the franchise. <3 Satine.

I think he made perfect sense in light of the "Star Wars = retro sci-fi adventure serial" that Lucas was always going for. He's a campy saturday morning supervillain.

But in light of Disney's affirmation of Star Wars as a relatively "realistic" sci-fi action-adventure series, he's starting to look a little out of place....

Grievous would fit perfectly fine in the TFA era since it still has the pulp feel. Rogue One is the outlier since it's more serious.

Genndywars Grievous would still fit RO, however.

wait, when did this happen? i dont remember seeing that

There's a brief scene in the first act, I believe, where Jyn remembers a moment from her childhood before they fled. Krennic was over at their home for drinks (same place they lived in during Catalyst actually) and you can see the cityscape out the windows.

I need to rewatch the Grievous intro in Gennedy CW. For all of y'all calling him lame- he goes straight Terminator.

We have a leak thread somewhere
But that requires speculation within reason.
Where will we talk about how Mace Windu is obviously Snoke without being talked down! Or which anthology films should come next!
I'm only being half serious
Though it really would be nice to have one central speculation thread for all leaks and rumors and universe stuff with out being tied to a single film

I dunno. Seems like TFA Star Wars is far too serious for that. He might fit into the prequels and maaaaaybe ROTJ.

It's hard to fathom that he's in the same universe as Rogue One, I agree.

Yeah I thought about running with a Clone Wars skiplist but the first stretch left a bad taste in my mouth so I never got around to it. If anybody here is considering jumping into it, I strongly recommend you find an episode guide.

TFA is too serious? With the Rathtars and Kylo flipping out and slashing up computers when he gets mad and Finn's goofy attitude with Phasma when they're on SKB and TR-8R and a villain named Snoke and the plot revolving around how they made an EVEN BIGGER BADDER DEATH STAR?

TFA is prime silliness.

I dunno. I just see him as a lightsaber helicopter and completely out of place in the SW universe. Even in the Saturday morning version. He's just got no redeemable qualities.

ohhhh i remember that scene now.

Hmm didnt realise it was Coruscant

If you look at Star Wars purely as a neo-revival of Flash Gordon + Buck Rogers, which is what Lucas always thought it was supposed to be .... he fits right in.

Of course, culture at large didn't take Star Wars to be that. They thought of it as something more serious in intent, like LOTR or King Arthur in space or whatever.

I don't know how anyone who didn't know of Grievous from the EU could find him acceptable in any way.

I was so hyped for Grievous before ROTS released and now I just skip his scenes.

When is Pablo answering questions about R1? Thought someone said that was happening soon.

She did some funny parodies re: Suicide Squad and TFA a while back

But apart from that, haven't seen any other of her videos because the webcam shtick seems odd to me.
That Jyn video was sad.

+1
I quite liked the movie, even better than Episode 7, which I adored too for different reasons.
Rogue One reminded me much more of expanded universe lore, in the sense that it shows Star Wars doesn't have to be about Jedis, lightsabres etc., but that there is a vast universe that can tell darker, more grounded stories in that don't necessarily have to advance the "main plot" of the bigger saga.
