Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

I'm saving myself some cash by watching Damiani play (the entirely of?) Uncharted 4. From what I've seen so far (and from having played the first three games), I'm not really missing out.

Turok 75% off is another "yeah I'd buy this but...bundles...so..."

How is Cities: Skylines without the expansions? I'd rather pick them up in the next sale if the main game is good without them. But I can also just wait and buy the whole thing then, if they add substantial things and the game otherwise feels incomplete or lacking.

Looking at the top sellers, the only two I don't have are Watch Dogs 2 and Dark Souls 3. That bundled with Stellaris -which I have been eyeing up for a while- are tempting me, but I may spend my Christmas holiday abroad mulling it over before diving in and purchasing.

Edit: The cities skylines dlc doesn;t add a lot, so you'd be safe going in vanilla.

So erm, what are some people's thoughts on *cough*HunieCam Studio? I really enjoyed -- I mean a friend of mine enjoyed Huniepop, and was wondering if their new game was any good. Is it?

I liked HunieCam Studio, but it is definitely a different critter than Huniepop. It's a reasonably easy time-management game with adult themes but no nudity. The characters are the same from Huniepop and carry their personalities over. You don't directly interact with them, but it determines their stats. Characters you would expect to need more frequent smoke/alcohol breaks, for example. Overall I found it a reasonably interesting time waster but was pretty much done with it after I got most of the achievements. Steam says I have about 23 hours in. For the price point, I'd say it was worth it.

So one of my goals this sale period was to try and get a full set of the story DLCs for Mass Effect 2 and 3 at a reasonable price... Yeah, I know, enjoy that laugh. But seriously, is there truly no way to get these things without just giving in and buying "BioWare Points" and paying the rather absurd full cost? I can't cut a deal in any way?

come on gaf recommend me those local coop/ local split screen games!

I already have castle Crashers, Bro Force, & Guacamelee

Overcooked! seems pretty awesome.

Very rarely they put Bioware points on sale but it doesn't happen often and I don't think it ever goes over 50%.

How to Survive and Dungeon Siege 3.
How To Survive - there are 2 of them... Are they both just as fun or should I get one over the other?
Sweet! Thanks
Rayman Legends was fun in coop. Trine 2 somewhat fun.
I may already have Rayman Legends on Uplay. I'm going to get Trine 2 though!
CRAWL
Overcooked
LASTFIGHT
Lethal League

Great suggestions. Overcooked looks fun.

The major aspects of the expansions have been free updates to the base game (day/night, weather, i'm pretty sure the disasters also, but don't quote me), while the expansions themselves are fairly insubstantial. Most people who've bought the expansions say they're doing it just to support the devs.

Does anyone have any thoughts about these games? I'm unsure about Dragon's Dogma because I don't know if I will even play it before the next sale. How likely is it that it will have a deeper discount next time? And what about buying Cities: Skylines and Invisible, Inc. without their respective DLCs?

Shadowrun Hong Kong is a great choice! Have you played the one that came before it, Dragonfall? If not, I recommend you getting that first. In fact, get the entire trilogy (Returns, Dragonfall, Hong Kong).

Also, I don't know whether to recommend Dragon's Dogma or not. The combat is amazeballs, but everything else is... meh

Had a quick look on my feed and I see this:

Something I'd expect from some shitty meme page, not a gaming company.

I've bought from these guys a lot and I'm regretting any source of revenue they've received from those purchases. What kind of tact? 0.

I agree on Shadowrun, great games.

Just got gifted Bad Rats Show from a friend. Whats a great cheap troll gift to give out this sale? Last year we traded Bad Rats and Secret of the Magic Crystals and he just challenged me again.

Ultimate Chicken Horse and CRAWL are two big, BIG hits for local co-op at my house. It helps that they are very different from each other too; they compliment each other back to back.

You'd be shocked at how competitive Ultimate Chicken Horse gets. Looks can be deceiving!

Has God Eater 2 has been always $20? I'm thinking about getting.

Woah, didn't realize it was already 60% off. It's a really good game (2 games, actually - you get God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2 for that price), and i highly recommend it to anyone at that price. It has one of rare features - you can complete the entire story mode of both games in co-op with up to 4 players. If players are at different points in the story, available missions depend on the player that has the least progress.

Man, I was really spoiled when the canadian dollar was on par with the american and we regularly got 75% off during steam sales.

All the games I want are 15 to 20 bucks instead of 5 to 10. Not quite impulse territory.

I'm terrible.

How's the FFV PC port?

The port is pretty good if you don't mind the mobile sprites, but it performs okay. Be sure to use the bilinear filter remover found here so that it doesn't look so muddy / blurry.

It's not even funny. I really wonder sometimes the kind of people that are responsible for managing social media accounts of a company...

Ok, I think I'm gonna do it: grim dawn, ryse, doom, and shadow warrior for about 50 bucks canadian. I'll wait on shadow warrior 2 when it drops more.

Well having only 28€ in my wallet is stopping me from adding more stuff...

Already have Shadow Warrior 1 though.

:P I think what you have are solid picks. I'm plunging in.

So, really, just suck it up and buy the stupid points through Origin if I want the DLC? Origin does sell the points so that seems the more convenient route since I can skip creating some silly BioWare account on top of everything else.
