This is what I'm thinking for my first ever Steam sale haul. Thoughts/critiques? I'll probably wait until the hidden deals thread before I pull the trigger on it. The only game on this list I've played before is Borderlands, and I'm mainly just getting that to play co-op with a couple friends.

Ys 1 and 2 are way too cool to pass up imo

Absolutely loved them both

The only game that's striking me as seeming a bit high is Sonic All Stars, but I'm not sure about it's recent price history

e: Also, what's the status on Tales of Symphonia? I remember when it first came out people were saying it wasn't a good port

Rusty Lake Hotel
- Imagine Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None or Clue: The Movie; the premise is that guests at a hotel are being killed one by one
- Also all the guests are animals dressed up in dapper outfits
- The gameplay is basically escape room style puzzles, which should be familiar to you if you played 999 or Zero Escape, or if you've done a live action escape room.
- Spoilers for first five minutes:
also you're the murderer

For $0.99 I recommend this definitely.

Runs on PC and Mac and should be notebook / bad hardware friendly.

It runs on flash player iirc. :)

A really bizarre and macabre puzzle game. It would work fine with some David Lynch movie soundtrack. Voted it for the best use of farm animals award. Good game and for one buck a no brainer.

Man, I need to clean up and re-organize my wishlist. Some of that was stuff that was at the top a long time ago but I've since reconsidered, or don't really want anymore.

It's very Mac friendly, if anyone's wondering to what extent. I had no hitches.

But man, Stump, that game messed me up some. Spoiler and all, when you
gotta electrocute that poor baby bird like 6 times
I felt all good in me die.

So far I've only bought Binding of Isaac Rebirth + Afterbirth.

Still mad for not being able to buy Hitman when it was $15 on gamestop.

Hey I didn't know steam had a

COMPLETE YOUR COLLECTION!
1 of 2 items from this bundle are already in your library.
Buy this bundle to save 25% off the 1 items you don't yet have!

That's cool, with the bundles always expanding, you don't have to miss out on the newest inclusions.

I'm getting Portal 2 for 2.99€ instead of 3.99€ because I already have Portal. Cool!

Is planet coaster worth it? Also does it support wide-screen? I'm getting one of those monitors for Xmas so want games to show off on it.

Thought Skyrim remaster would work but apparently not?

Kinda into this FF IV look (the 3ds remake), whats the other one thats like this (besides IV later years), was it 5?

Edit: nope its 3, 5 has that phone look. Guess I gotta grab 3 then.

How is Telltale's Game of Thrones? Worth it if you are a fan of the show?

Love the show and books, hate the Telltale non-game style of game. Ended up hating the game and not even being able to refund it. It's not even compelling as GoT content, as a game it's among the worst I've ever played. I think the only way to enjoy it is being a superfan of GoT and Telltale Games.

I think having unknown houses be the face of the game was a mistake, I probably would have played it to completion had I been playing some Baratheon/Stark/Targ fellow rather than this House Forester bs

No. It follows House Forrester, it's not following the show's views.

It's eh.

Oh, too bad then. Thanks!

My retail versions of Crysis and Warhead will not complete installation on Windows 10 due to known issues (a previous Windows Update for the former and I believe Securom or something similar for the latter). I'm assuming the digital counterparts install/work fine?

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Turok is $5! That's the cheapest I've ever seen it.

I'm blowing my load real fast this time around. Snagged the Shadow Warrior 2 bundle that was discounted since I had Shadow Warrior. Also included the redux of the original game.

You keep waiting for just one good thing to happen to the good guys and it never does. It's basically just torture porn.

The writers didn't understand why the show is so successful that while bad things happen to the good guys, the good guys also win sometimes as well.

Crysis still has Securom on the Steam version. So if that is causing you problems, you may want to avoid.

So my nephew bought Dark Souls 3 yesterday for full price, and already played more than 2 hours. What are the chances he can get a refund to rebuy at the sale price?

Life is Strange is amazing. /post

You'll have to get the GOG versions.

Bought everything on the list except Rabi-Ribi which was gifted by a friend. Probably the best sale I've had in a while. Planning on picking up Dragon Quest Heroes in a bit.

I don't think there's anything for me this sale, I'll have to dig through everything later but not much of anything I really want is on sale enough from my wishlist.

Repeatedly feeding a pig its own shit until it bleeds, producing toilet tomatoes was the grossest for me. The blueberries were the only thing I missed, so I assume that's what you get from electrocuting the bird.
I beat the game though

Wow the emotes and backgrounds for this sale badge are bad. This is so low effort. This is like "shit I forgot the project was due today, time to wing it" level effort.

For the first time in a while, I purchased a few games in a Holiday Sale.

  • Final Fantasy VI
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
  • Life is Strange

Feeling quite happy about it.

Pin Steam is what I use for the Start menu. I had a bug, or something with Steam Tile just didn't work as well as Pin Steam.

I tried Pin Steam but then I got a bug whereby any new games I bought wouldn't show up, no matter how many times I reset/reinstalled everything. I've found TileCreator to be the most cumbersome to use but also the most reliable, and allows you to pin games not from steam.

I have to wait until Christmas to get my steam money to buy stuff this year. Probably for the best, it lets me evaluate what I really should be getting and what is just gonna be fluff.

Since the Judge Dredd game was brought up earlier, is there a list of games most likely to be removed from Steam after this sale?

In other news, Silent Hill Homecoming (which isn't great and I think has a bad PC port if I remember correctly) is at an all-time low price by far, $5.99 (85% off). In previous sales it never dipped below $10, then this October it went to $8, and now $6. Not sure if this indicates they're planning to pull it, or if they're planning to actively take part in Steam sales going forward. Maybe keep an eye on it if this is an important collector's item for you.

I just used Steam Tile. Works pretty good! What about tiles from Origin and GoG? They are small and not as nice as the rest. (Gwent/TF2/Diablo III)

Anything for those?

I am probably going to pull the trigger with this:

Any thoughts/recommendations? I'm trying to keep it under 400 mxn (20 usd) this year.

I love Stardew Valley and Mini Metro. Been tempted to rebuy Stardew on the XBone just to support the devs. For whatever reason I stuck with it longer than I did any of the Harvest Moon series. Mini Metro starts out very zen but can escalate quickly as it goes on and bottlenecks start to develop.
