Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

I just have Oath right now, and I've been eyeing Origin, VI and I + II for a while. How are the numbered games?

- I+II is pretty archaic by modern game standards, I personally really enjoyed them when I played them a few years ago, but I could see a lot of people really hating them.

- Origin is amazing, arguably the best in the series, or at least tied for best with Oath

- VI was the first Ys game to use the engine and gameplay style of Oath/Origin, it's good, but not as refined as the follow ups.

Looking through my wishlist and putting stuff in my cart, I don't suppose there's a way to use Enhanced Steam so that when I click Add to Cart it just puts it in the cart without moving away from the wishlist screen?

Good to know. I think I got my ass handed to me on the very first boss in Origins. And I mean royally handed to me.

The game expects you to be at a particular level before hitting the area boss, and will stop giving you good amounts of XP once you hit it. It's the best type of grind, because you'll only need to spend a minute doing it.

Complains that games are *only* 50% off. Asks if there are dailies.

Yep. This is a Steam sale thread.

Considering previous sales went as high as 90% off, and the competition of GMG, PS Store and other retailers sometimes offer similar (better) deals; it's a valid question.

On Topic: Nabbed Witcher 3, Farcry Blood Dragon and a friend Gifted me Doom; decent haul for now.

Hitman Complete at GameStop for $14.99 was a price error. Besides that, I don't think anything on Steam proper--I think Wok said some bundle-completion discount for some random games was set up wrong temporarily but nothing anyone was excited for.

Valley is a good purchase for 7€! You should have been excited before it was fixed! At least one was and was nice enough to comment to tell me!

i just got the game "minion master" instead of a card when i voted for the steam award. anyone know why?

edit: i got the card too, but only got the message for the game

If you got a coupon from the Square Enix's surprise box you can use it for additional 50% off in their Store. Probably also a mistake

Did you know about the recent Ubi 30 giveaway, or did you just not wanted to deal with Uplay?

Giveaway of the game I usually promote during sales, because it's sweet and awesome.

Like just general travel boring or are they about taking in the world? I enjoy the time between combat in games like Shadow of the Colossus or Titan Souls, or hell, even Uncharted, if it's done well.
I get no pleasure from traversing the levels filled with monotonous enemies. They feel like padding before the boss fights.

Alright, thanks. :) Might just fire up Origins this weekend then!

The way Steam handles those new bundles where you can complete your collection is pretty cool, but sometimes the pricing can be kind of screwed up, I've seen the old Tomb Raider bundle go for around $12, but the way it's set up now they only added Temple of Osiris and it's DLC, but it now costs $46 if you don't own any of it. I'm glad I bought the old bundle a few months ago.

So I went and bought the Resident Evil bundle.

I have so many resident evil games now! But I've been fan of series from game 1, and I think it's time to fill my collection with games that I never played. Revelations for example.

Is there any consensus on which Party Pack is the best? Thinking these might be good for a Christmas party.

3 is the best one. All the games are good unlike the other packs which have weak games. It also has Quiplash, which is their best game.

The only real reason to buy 2 now is Fibbage, which admittedly is very good. It has old Quiplash which is not necessary. Bidiots is alright but if you want a drawing game I'd just get Drawful 2 which is standalone.

Pack 1 is only worth buying now for You Don't Know Jack, which is just trivia for up to 4 players. But there's a lot of content in YDKJ do it would easily justify its price if you like that.

What

Massive Chalice was a well spent $1.99

I bought it at full price ages ago, and I thought it was absolutely worth it. I love XCOM and Massive Chalice is very inspired by it in its gameplay. The trait system is quite interesting, creating the best bloodlines etc. I went through and finished an ironman game on hard - it was a lot of fun! I tried brutal...that's a whole other level of pain. I might try it again though.

Anyway, $1.99 is a no brainer for this, imo.

Thought this would be a good chance to pick up Pure as I've been meaning to get it for ages (really enjoyed it on the 360), turns out it's been removed from the Steam store. Thankfully I was able to get it elsewhere but just in case anyone else was wanting to pick it up an FYI it's been removed from Steam.

I'm looking to buy Dishonored. Should I go with the Definitive Edition or is the DLC that comes with it not worth the price hike?

Not having a big budget this year and sales not being very generous I've come down to deciding between two games, either Darkest Dungeon or Aviary Attorney. Feels like I would get most bang for the buck with Darkest Dungeon but Aviary Attorney seems so fun.O_o

Originally it was called Enemy Starfighter, which I still think is cool in its own blunt way
Isn't House of Dying Sun a rather short game? I have heard stated 2-3 hours on Normal and 2-3 more on Hard mode (essentially just going through same game though). That just seems sparse.

Instead I would recommend Starpoint Gemini 2. You command a larger ship then in a normal space fighter game but there are a lot of things to do, cool upgrades, mods, and the developer is working on a sequel with more strategy options.

Picked up Grim Dawn... hoping for a Diablo 2 like experience.

Please tell me I'm right and how I cant go wrong at 13 bucks.

Need help trimming off some fat:

I hate to be that guy but I'd only recommend DEFCON if you actually have friends to play it with. It's just not very much fun in single-player against the AI (ironic given its origins in WarGames) and I'm not sure how active its multiplayer community is at this point.
