Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

Isn't House of Dying Sun a rather short game? I have heard stated 2-3 hours on Normal and 2-3 more on Hard mode (essentially just going through same game though). That just seems sparse.

Instead I would recommend Starpoint Gemini 2. You command a larger ship then in a normal space fighter game but there are a lot of things to do, cool upgrades, mods, and the developer is working on a sequel with more strategy options.

I think House of the Dying Sun is a really really great VR game, IF you have a VR headset.

Aviary attorney ismshort but if it is $10 or lower insay get it if u like adventure games or phoenix wright series
Darkest dungeon is also good but of xourse a different genre so it comes down to which genre u want for one thing

I do prefer RPGs over anything but I do of course like adventure games and Aviary Attorney seems like such a great palette clenser against everything else one has to play. But I am leaning towards Darkest Dungeon, just because bigger sale and it would last me longer.

Went whole indie and swept up some stuff I'd been meaning to pick up:

Crypt of the NecroDancer, OXENFREE, Her Story, Stanley Parable, Gunpoint, and Undertale.

I also have a -75% Ori and the Blind Forest DE discount which I don't need. Hit me up

Oh sweet, any chance I can get in on that please?

I don't think you can use the Ori coupons while the game is on sale. Check if the coupon doesn't expire before the sale ends.

mine says that it expires in January, but I think you may be right. It says that it can't be combined with other discounts, not sure if a steam sale discount falls under that though

It might give you the best overall discount though just not combined?

Just an FYI both rdytoroll and myself tried to trade the Ori 75% code and it can't be used in conjunction with a sale item (since Ori is already 50% off). Oh, well!

Steam fined AUD$3 Million in Australia for not offering refunds in the period 2011-2014.

Seems like the case is finally over?

"Valve is a United States company with 2.2 million Australian accounts which received 21,124 tickets in the relevant period containing the word "refund" from consumers with Australian IP addresses," Justice Edelman wrote in his judgement.

Steam must now introduce a compliance program and place an notice in size 14 type on its Australia website informing consumers about their rights.

...

Might finally open the way for local currency though that could go very wrong with the traditional Australia Tax. Valve hasn't indicated whether they will appeal or not but have until Feb. 20 to decide.

Edit: Lols, "an notice". There really aren't any sub editors left in Australian media.

Coupon doesn't work when there is another discount going on. Its valid until Jan.5 tho so just wait for the sale to end on the 2nd and then you can pick it up at 75% off.

My Haul so far:

-Ray Gigant for 8,39€ - already refunded
-The Legend of Dark Witch for 2,49€ - pretty fun so far

..quite meagre lol.

Nearly my entire wishlist is discounted, but most of the discounts just aren't that enciting yet.

That said, thinking of buying Song of the Deep and Root Double. Thoughts?

Root Double is good. The art style is generic anime and is the weakest part of the game (it's drawn very well though), but the story is solid all the way through. It builds up a mystery very well, and delivers a satisfying resolution. I'm happy to have backed it when it was on Kickstarter.

How good is Shadowrun Hong-Kong? I have read many reviews stating it was inferior to Shadowrun DragonFall.
It was easier than Dragonfall while limiting your income at the same time and it suffers from NPCs just dumping their life stories on you at the drop of a hat. If you're the type of player that got into the habit of going around visiting everyone in the hub area between each mission to see what new bits of info they'd reveal to you in Dragonfall, you're likely to quickly get tired of just how much they have to say in Hong Kong. That said, it was still a nice Shadowrun game and the last we'll be seeing for quite some time.

Edit: Ah yes I'd forgotten how they screwed up the decking while trying to improve it.

It's a great game. The new Hacking mini game could be either better or worse then Dragonfall depending on the player, but characters are great, other game mechanics were a bit improved, story is also pretty good, and overall the game is definitely worth your time. I would say Dragonfall is a bit better better overall but Hong Kong is still great and better then vast majority of CRPGs.

To summarize, it's a good game, it's cheap, and it's a no brainer.

Come and get 'em!

Anyone know if Twilight Struggle has good matchmaking? And if so do most not rage quit? I am really interested in the game but no one on my buddy list has it and I'm afraid I'll be stuck with no one to play with =(

Damn, I want Rocket League (or Rainbow Six: Siege, kinda torn between the two) so badly, but unfortunately I am yet to receive my paycheck for this month...
Hoping it will be before the sale ends.
