Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

Almost at $50 in card money now. Only thing I really want to buy is Shadowrun Hong Kong but I may wait due to my will-actually-play backlog.

Thought about DS3 and the new Deus Ex but figure there will be some DLC and eventually complete editions.

Is there a way to filter which games I played for longer than an hour within the last year? I know about playtime sorting in the profile but I'm looking for something more elaborate.

(Just working on my GOTY list)

Played some Devil Daggers, I will let my friend Emma Stone review it for me:

If you're debating what to buy, do not buy Owlboy. Hard pass on it until it's like $5.

GTAV is $25 on Gamersgate.

Damiani (EZA) might be streaming Owlboy in a bit. I've learned that if watching someone else play something doesn't make me want to play it, then it's probably not worth buying.

I dig that art style. Is it just a wave/horde mode shooter?

Essentially yes....BUT.....it's possibly one of the most addictive games I've ever played thanks to the sublime learning curve coupled with it's leaderboard. I started playing this a week or two ago and I'm not sure I'm ever going to be able to move on...it's the gaming equivalent of crack. I hate myself for playing but I just need one more go...

Just remembered that I was waiting for Half-Life 1: Source to go on sale... fixed.

Somehow it seems that I didn't have HL2: Episode 2 either.

I'm about where you are in the game and feel the same. Every quest I feel like I barely got out and everyones sanity is shot. Still trying to figure out all the mechanics. Also, the controller setup is bad and I'd recommend using the mouse to anyone interested. I think this and Thumper will be my main purchases. Still thinking about Batman: Telltale and Firewatch.

Ah yeah I've been playing it a mouse and feels like that's the best way. While I do appreciate control support can't see me going for it.

Darkest Dungeon is ruthless and encourages you to be ruthless as well. You'll learn soon enough that the best strategy is to treat your party as expendable. Use them until they break, and then abandon them for fresh fodder.

Haha yeah, at first I actually cared for the guys... but now I've gotten to enjoy see how much I can make them break while keeping them alive. This game is crazy, so damn good!

What logic does Steam follow when adding games to your wishlist? They seem to get slotted in at random locations into my list, without any discernible pattern.

Eisenwald: Blood of November -- MB-AF7DF2288F2F3ECA - Taken by Eila

Merry Christmas!

So I completed Pony Island. It reminded me of Undertale (even if the stories are quite different).
Certainly worth the price it's currently on sale for, a good 2-3 hour game.

date added. You can sort them by name, date, price or rank. You can drag and drop games to change their "ranks"

idk i feel like i may prefer to go quadrilateral cowboy + axiom verge

why only those over the rest?

Hyper Light Drifter is a reductive, moody, stylized Link to the Past. You have to feel the story more than you'll read. You're going to love it, Zky.

Axiom is a little more on the nose with its treatment of Metroid. Similar thing with feeling the story, but Metroid was always like that, anyway.

a year where a dark souls game, a street fighter game and a xcom game arent in my top 5 is a good year

theyre in my top 10 tho

Can I buy a Steam gift, forward the mail to my own adress and have there somehow a link from which I can get the key that I can send to someone?

by the way, the Homeworld games are 66% off (including Kharak which surprises me), but the bundle with both is actually 75% off.

Oh interesting, since I own remastered already I can buy the bundle and just get Deserts for 75% off. Hmm tempting.

...at some point Steam's gonna stop e-mailing me that games on my wishlist are on sale, right?

I've never had as many Steam e-mails as I've had the last two days, it's insane. Surely this is a bug, I don't remember this e-mail bombardment during previous sales.
