Edit: was that sarcasm over my head? It's the funny season. I can't tell.

great movie
gritty star wars has me conflicted
i think Donnie Yen's fight scene was one of the best in the series.
Holy shit i can't believe everybody is fucking dead. Makes sense though
LOL Hope
I'm sure Swol saw it. But I think he knew the narractive he wanted to walk out of the theater with and made sure it fit no matter what.
Trying to say that 3PO and K2 are the same or Cassien is like Solo is just desperate grasping at straws. But if you wanted that narrative I guess I could convince myself of it.
He also doesn't seem to know that every hero ever is an orphan.
The biggest stretch is that they are following some template. Yes, the Death Star is in the movie. But this is not like any SW movie that we have ever seen before, and the critics owe it that much at least.
It actually looks better than when i watched it in 3D.
Why did you think it would be?I saw it yesterday with some friends. One of my friends fell asleep that but that was mostly him coming from work. Everyone else liked it but didn't get as much of fanservice I got from it. I could clearly tell Tarkin was CG but I didn't think it was distracting.
I was just surprised Jyn's Kyber crystal didn't end up being the one in Luke's Green lightsaber.

1. Yeah. Mustafar 2. They are AT - ACT actually, cargo walkers. 3) Yup, hes not an Jedi.As a somewhat casual fan of the series I enjoyed the movie , but can see some of its flaws.
A couple of questions for the more hardcore star wars fans.
Is Vader hanging out /did he put his home base on the same planet where he got pushed into the lava ?
Is there a reason At - Ats going down so quickly in this movie? I thought the point of goths tow cables were meant just for the Walkers.
The blind guy was not a Hedi but just a follower of the force right ? I got some of the smaller references I think but those were the questions I could think of after watching 1 time.
Also that Darth Vader cameo at the end ..... awesome, you get to see how bad ass he can be.
I don't know how anyone can look at Disney's output in 2016 and somehow view them as some creatively bankrupt evil megacorporation that is out to kill creative movies.
Yeah, Vader's castle is on Mustafar. The AT-ATs are actually AT-ACTs. They're smaler and are primarily used to transport cargo. Chirrut's not a Jedi, but he's force sensitive. As a somewhat casual fan of the series I enjoyed the movie , but can see some of its flaws.

that was a nice change. i didn't say the movie was all bad, like i said i did enjoy it more than Force Awakens by a lot. That damn Disney template where every single character dies. It's getting really tiring!
Oh totally dude. Gotta try and gain that cool cred online.Honestly you're trying to be to edgy
Jesus Christ the locales were gorgeous in this movie. I wish I could live on the Island planet at the end.
What I liked about this movie was how the technology and screens had the original feel to it. Something Lucas failed at in the prequel trilogy.

Yeah. The prequels had terrible writing, acting, and a ton of issues, but I actually love much of the lore they created, the big ideas/vision and central story beats, and how well it establishes a sense of setting in the galaxy. Much of which I felt was lacking in TFA.The whole point of the PT is that the galaxy was in the middle of a golden age. Well that and most of it is set on Coruscant which is basically space New York.
The point of the PT was to show the end of a golden era by that was never reflected on the environments. The whole point of the PT is that the galaxy was in the middle of a golden age. Well that and most of it is set on Coruscant which is basically space New York.
Definitely should've done more with that in RotS, I agree. The point of the PT was to show the end of a golden era by that was never reflected on the environments.
By ROTS the Clone Wars have been going on for years and the Trade Federation just besieged Coruscant but the city still looked as clean and pretty as it looked years before the war.
They should have showed the transition from the clean and beautiful aesthetics of the late republic era to the dirty aesthetics of the imperial era.

Biggest complaint? The score by Giacchino.
Tarkin was noticeable immediately, there's a reason they kept things to medium-or-further cuts with dark lighting. The animation especially is a bit too cartoony to be totally convincing. It's much better than stuff in the past, but it's still not quite there yet.
Ya'll remember when that dude straight up executed a Stormtrooper with a blaster right to the dome? Now that's some Disney shit.
Thinking about it, I would kill for any sidestory showing RO + OT from Raddus' or Ackbar's pov. I just fucking love the Mon Calamari, man. Seeing the him lead that battle above Scarif felt like Star Trek almost. Reminded me of ROTJ that way!
Yes! The MVP's of showing the fuck up and getting it done. When all hope is lost, don't count the Mon Calamari out (unfortunate naming aside) cos they will be there with some thinking and damage dealing.
We'll never see them explored on the big screen though.
Raddus is dead dude. His ship is the one Vader tore apart. He isn't going to survive that.Thinking about it, I would kill for any sidestory showing RO + OT from Raddus' or Ackbar's pov. Well that's where Ackbar comes in.Raddus is dead dude. His ship is the one Vader tore apart. He isn't going to survive that.
Well that's where Ackbar comes in.
So, figuratively, the Alliance flushed their dead fish down the toilet and put the new fish in the bowl.
Anyone see it in 70mm?
