Movies that work on as many levels as possible

Let me explain what I mean...

What are some films that portray characters that don't make any dumb mistakes that our own common sense knows is a dumb mistake. Or movies that tell stories about real people without bending the truth. Movies with dinosaurs that look like actual dinosaurs as science knows them to be. Space movies where the laws of astrophysics are depicted in a truthful way (the way gravity works, no sound in space, etc). If someone is supposed to be highly intelligent, they actually seem highly intelligent. Movies that build worlds and tell stories where there is no "Why didn't the eagles just fly the hobbits to Mordor?" moments. Stories that hold up in regards to depictions of race, gender, cultures, etc. Movies that are completely truthful in depicting what they are trying to depict.

Some things, like minor continuity errors and some technical flaws, I'm not too concerned about. But anything that contradicts logic or undermines the story the filmmakers are trying to tell is a no go.

What are some movies that meet these standards?

You're asking for the wrong thing, OP. You should instead be asking where you went wrong and why you don't trust directors. You gotta be willing to suspend your disbelief, man.

Mad Max Fury Road. For a movie that's such a spectacle I can't really find many flaws in the character motivations or plot. Good chance I'm really wrong though.

I stutter, and I thought The King's Speech is a very good representation of someone struggling with that problem.

The awkwardness, the anxiety, the self loathing, and the frustration with yourself are all very realistically depicted. So much so that it was difficult for me to watch because it hit a little too close to home.

I want to, but I'm far too intelligent to suffer foolishness in movies when it doesn't need to be there. Maybe the masses will swallow that slop, but I won't.
Wait what.

This is the film that sticks out most to me - it is tighter than an airlock.

Other ones that came to mind randomly:

The Big Short
Spotlight
Rogue One
Ronin
Leon: The Professional

Oh boy, I can see where this is going. Thread's gonna be people listing movies and then OP telling them they're stupid for thinking that qualifies.

EDIT: Too late.

Sounds like you have zero interest in fiction. Watch/read documentaries/reporting instead. Of course that's not truthful either because nothing ever is, but it's as close as you'll get.

Actually, OP. Why don't you list some movies that you think fit this description and we'll point out the flaws in them and belittle your intellect instead?

Another way of saying it is "not tolerating plebeian idiocy while also keeping this thread on topic".

Duel.

The guy in the car being chased by a truck. It's a story as old as time itself, and if you've ever been terrorized by a guy driving a big truck, it's like that.

Primer. Samsara. Badlands. The Arrival (aside from some occasional idiotic moments, like the first time the professor is asked to translate the alien's voice on the spot in her office). Attempt to disabuse me if you can, but it will only make you look that much ignorant.

Thinking BTTF qualifies says a lot about how intelligent you are. The only time travel movie that actually seems like it could be accurate is Primer.

Recommending Catwoman at any time is a response that suits the intellect of the one making it. :)

Man I'm sure you're a really nice person

Your going to derail your own thread by having such a ridiculous superiority complex.

OP how old are you? How many fedoras do you own? How often do you vape?

I need to know this before I recommend any uber intelligent movies.

Also, who is your favorite philosopher?

This is quite difficult as it changes quite frequently, we should start small by having them portrayed in their correct period between triassic, jura and cretaceous.

Hey, for real though, what are some good solid movies? I personally really like stuff that feels "human", that highlights people and their weird thoughts and obvious flaws.

Two movies that I think do that for me are It's Such a Beautiful Day and Network.

I'm also up for suggestions for movies that care about all the little details, which is probably more fitting with the topic.

I think you might be right on this one. When I re-watched it, the thing that surprised me most was how every single thing shown on screen, even little things like the scene where one of the girls gets grazed on the leg by a bullet, become important to the plot at some point. I can't recall a single wasted shot in the entire runtime.

Edit: Misread the thread, I was answering more in terms of how the movie was structured and filmed.

Primer is a very weird example if you think the character motivations are entirely realistic and justified. Samsara is essentially a documentary so of course it's realistic. Haven't seen the other two yet but at least half of your examples seem off.

There are plenty of docs that bend the truth. Or are you really that oblivious to how reality works?

i think you are looking to the wrong medium

And now you arrive at my point. Aside from a few films in the criterion collection (more or less), movies, like video games, are for those with sophomoric intellects. From a young age I've been cursed with a high IQ. I'm simply too intelligent to consume any media outside of plays, classical music and literature.

every documentary bends the truth. because there is no "truth". the objective reality you want portrayed in your OP does not exist. it is a fiction you are entertaining and no work will ever meet those absurd standards.

film is the wrong medium for you. at heart it is about fantasy. fantasy is written into the very the core of the technology that separates film from photography. one image follows another, producing the illusion of motion.

i would go further than your "plenty of docs bend the truth". all docs bend the truth bc there is no objective truth.
