Watch_Dogs 2 |OT| .HTML

Gonna finally get into this tonight and tomorrow.

Hoping it's as fun as people say it is.

I asked for it for Christmas, so this is a zero risk investment.

There's a set number of dialogue heavy unique ones (that you can replay), but I think the generic ones keep going.

That's kind of silly. That means I can get infinite cash and research points without ever having to do a single mission. I get that it's open world, but I don't know if these should be repeatable missions

You don't get research points past a certain thresholds, you still need all the collectible ones to max the tree. And cash, well you can spend a lot, you kinda need infinite sources

Just started it on OG PS4. Graphics are damn good. I'm impressed.

I can already tell that I'll hate these cutscenes and no way of skipping them is stupid af.

edit: "download this app to access the map"

Stop, Ubisoft.

So is there no way to permanently mark enemies and let you see the marks through walls? Like with something over their heads like in Ass Creed and MGS5?

Contrary to, well, every other open-world Ubi game, you don't actually drown in cash relative to what you can buy. I collected every collectable that appeared on the map, completed all of the side missions aside from the online stuff, and bought nothing more than the first set of clothes you're required to purchase at the beginning of the game, two or three weapons and just the one sailing boat, but still didn't have enough to buy up even just one of the car dealerships by the end of the campaign.

Goddamn the driving is still total garbage. What the hell have they been doing in those years. It might just be a dealbreaker.

I thought it was significantly improved. Not the best and not quite as good as something like GTA V's, but pretty good. Some of the cars do drive like shit though and I make sure to avoid those (or just call in my own cars).

I remember every car being terrible in the first game while in 2 there's a fairly big difference between the different models. The heavier cars are okay to drive.

Got a kick out of cheering up some random pissed off pedestrian. The geature system thing is pretty cool...kinda makes me wish there would be an open world game centered around social interaction and stuff instead of action/combat. But I know that's harder than it sounds lol.

You barely ever have to drive. Just fast travel to your objectives and drive only when missions require it.

That's pretty much how I played the entire game

But driving in open world cities is like half the reason I play these games.

But in _dawgs 2, I'm forced to basically only use motorcycles.

Took me maybe an hour of playing the game to get used to the controls. Certainly not the best driving controls in a game (especially after playing a lot of Forza Horizon 3 this year), but can't say they really get in my way anymore. I like there's fast travel in this game, but I'm only really using it if I'm on top of a building and it's too much of a hassle to find another way down.

How to you come across PrimeEight member? I'm doing Tbone weekly challenges, and gotta kill 10 PrimeEight members. Are they only access through Hack the Hacker online missions?

I just beat the first Watch_Dogs yesterday and the price for 2 is tempting.

Is it better than the original? How long is it? Is the online mode fun? :P I'm about to pull the trigger here.

If you like WD1, you'll like 2 a lot. I was a fan of the original and this one improved upon every aspect of it in my opinion.

I even got used to the shit driving and managed to pull off some good maneuvers! Sold! :D Thanks.

67 pages tho

Just needed some "yes", "no" answers like above. :P It's how I avoided buying Just Cause 3 when it was cheap, haha.

Well that post probably isn't the best because many people who liked the first game aren't a fan of WD2. It's downgraded in a few areas such as stealth takedowns, controls, gunplay and the omission of side missions like convoys and gang hideouts.

Ok yeah, this is way more fun than Watch Dogs 1.

So much more variety and goofiness.

I fucking love the Scout X apps and location hunt.

Could you have seen Aiden doing those? Fuck no.

I played from 8 PM till now and my only complaint is the CyberDriver mission escape portion was awful because the driving mechanics are slippery as hell.

Other than that, Game is a blast.

Yeah, I read something like that about the convoys and gang hideouts, and honestly those missions bored me in the first one. :/ The completionist in me always got sidetracked doing those when I was close to a main mission point, haha.

They were kinda repetitive, so I might not miss them tbh.

Finally put some dedicated time into this game. It's so good! The driving is so responsive. The gunplay is...it's ok. It was slightly better in the first one but it's still better than GTAV's. The dialogue is amazing.

I thought WD1 was very dull and had awful characters. This game actually has a personality and I love it.

Sorry if it's been asked but just started this and really enjoying it. Is watch dogs 1 worth playing after this? How is Chicago? I hear the games are really different, played about an hour on ps3 and was bored to tears but want to give it another shot at that price!

That's like half the reason I play open-world games. That and the story/cutscenes. I tend to play mission after mission and just drive from point A to point B, which is satisfying in GTA IV/V, for example.

WD2 fails on both of those accounts for me. I hate these characters.

I LOVED Watch Dogs 1 and think Watch dogs 2 is absolutely awful. If anything, disliking Watch dogs 1 means there's a bigger chance you'll like Watch Dogs 2. It removes or downgrades basically everything good that the first game did.

Just finished, I agree with some the sentiments I read earlier in this thread that
the last mission is a bit of letdown
- there were missions earlier in the game that felt more seismic.

Overall, it sort of feels like every mission was written by a different person and those people weren't allowed to talk to each other during development. The order can be pretty much interchanged and really struggle to build any momentum.

The idea that the group is more shocked and appalled over
Wrench's mask being taken off and stolen
over
Horatio's death
is ridiculous.

My complaint with that mission is that I was laughing like a goon and couldn't see due to tears in my eyes because I was stealing KITT and Planet Earth was blasting from the speakers.

Also, found this in game.

I bought this game during the Steam sale and am enjoying it thus far. Have found it much better than Watch Dogs 1 overall (in ~5 hrs of gameplay).

That said, I do have some gripes about some aspects of the gameplay.

I hate the stealth. I absolutely HATE it. Guards just seem to have a hivemind and everyone just comes running to you when one of them detects you. They also just seems to call for endless reinforcements.

Call.me crazy but I think the map, ambience etc... is leagues better than any gta game

I think it's right up there with GTAV, for different reasons. While GTAV has an almost frighteningly obsessive amount of small details and world asset feedback, Watch_Dogs 2's San Francisco feels even more dynamic and interesting to walk around in. Just the fact that there's more than cynical "volume on 11" roid raging reactions makes a big difference. W_D2 feels populated by a lot more personality types and interactions, and the placement/detail of canned things and spawning of area specific peds makes it so that almost no area feels dead or sterile.

I don't think this game's going to get the credit it deserves for the world they made though. Too much baggage from the first game, too much baggage from being a Ubisoft title, too much baggage from the lower sales numbers. Plus the driving model being not great will detract from the experience. And coming only a year before Red Dead Redemption 2, which everyone will fawn over (maybe rightfully so), it'll get lumped in with every other Ubi open world, unfortunately.

WD2's world is far more engaging GTAV's. GTAV is huge and looks fantastic but it always seemed kind of boring to actually explore to me whereas in WD2 feels more lively and dynamic with their NPCs.

I'm only about 2 hours in, but I'm just really glad they gave this game so much personality to it. My biggest issue with the first game was it was extremely bland. WD1's Chicago was boring and lifeless. WD2's version of SF just feels so alive and vibrant.

Yeah, the enemy AI is disappointingly and annoyingly simplistic.

I'm probably being dense, but what does the power symbol hack at traffic lights do? I know the other hack causes them to malfunction, but this one didn't do anything noticeable? There's a timer that shows up, but nothing about the traffic light itself seemed different.

THIS is what's killing my enjoyment. The stealth mechanics feel super reductive and absolutely hinder the flow of the game.

I loved WD1 and I thought WD2 was worse than WD1...the moving, the controls, the vehicles, even the camera seems way too far away now from the character you are controlling.

Finally finished this yesterday.

Game was good, solid 7 / 10 for me.

The hacking parts certainly out stayed their welcome by the end of the game (I get it, its a game about hacking, but the cookie cutter copy and paste formula of go here, hack this, escape area, rinse repeat got boring about half way through the game.)

In the end, I went guns blazing in the missions towards the end and had a bit more fun even if that isnt the correct way in terms of story to do things.

Hoping if there is a Watch Dogs 3 that they try and mix up the hacking gameplay somehow.
Fuck knows how though.

I miss the crew.

This is weird. How did that happen? So I picked up this game a few days ago from a GAFer in BST and never put it down. Now I didn't mind the first WD so that probably helped, but I had a genuine interest in pretty much every character I came across in this game.

There are some pacing issues, there are some char dev issues from a narrative standpoint, but damn by the end I wanted to go off the grid, join Anonymous, and find a real life Sitara to boss me around.

In a year where there have been some damn good games (Uncharted, Overwatch, TLG, etc.) I'm not going to lie this one ranks up there as one that provided me one of the most enjoyable experiences.

TURRRRRBOOOOOLOVAAAAAAA

Isn't that just every single game?
