Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

I am ashamed of spending more times trying to justify more purchases than enjoying the games I bought.

#SteamStruggles

This is me right now. I can't stop adding more games to my cart.

To be fair I've already completed firewatch and abzu. Both amazing experiences.

But exaggerations aside, CoL doesn't really scream good game. Seriously. Is it because people are aching for a good Paper Mario game that they'll settle for it?

Everyone has their opinions. I thought Child of Light was an amazing game, loved it and never played Paper Mario, while I thought Bastion is eh an okay game (another game widely praised). Everyone is different.

Looks like GTAV has passed 6 million owners according to Steamspy. I wonder how much more they sold via their Social Club thing. Either way what a monster of a game for R* and it was like 2 years late coming to PC. Such a beast.

Physical copies are all activated through Social Club. One of my biggest regrets. Wish I could activate it on Steam. :(

OK somebody stop me from getting this

Looking for a birthday present for a friend. I wouldn't call her a casual gamer, but she just gets very obsessed with a handful of games. Her favorites (in order of hours played) are Alice: Madness Returns, Heroes of the Storm, Child of Light, LIMBO, Bioshock Infinite, Contrast, and A Walk in the Dark. Based on these, what would be a good game to gift her? I already purchased Inside, though I'm not sure if it will live up to LIMBO.

Inside seems the best choice if they liked Limbo.

Just finished playing for the first time Darkest Dungeon. Wow. What a great first impression.

Everything about the game just compliments the tone and feel of the game. The strange item descriptions, the odd narrator, and look. I love it!

It's a great game, but I got super bored after a while - since what your encounter is pretty much the same in every dungeon (randomed a bit, but that's it). So other than boss fights (which are also the same once you've done them all) I was looking forward to leveling up my A-Team, which became sort of easy once you get the hang of playing the different classes.

I bought Legends of Eisenwald, and I don't even know why.

Well, I know why, because it's an interesting, well-reviewed turn-based tactical game, but I don't think I needed it, and man, it might be jankier than I ever could've expected.

But it also seems like it might end up being really good once I sink into it, so overall good stuff.

But get your grammer straight bruhs.

Asked earlier and got no response. Opinion son 7 days to die? I am a fan of Minrcraft, Zombie survival games like H1Z1 etc.

Is it easy to co-op with a friend? Is there dedicated servers/pvp? How bad is that jank?

Is there no way of upgrading The Binding of Isaac to Rebirth for free or at a heavy discount?
Have rebirth for PS4/Vita as well.
I have the original game plus Lamb DLC and don't really want to be punished for being an early adopter.
Event though I know Nicalis is not a customer friendly company, it would be nice if they'd offer some discount.

There was a fairly substantial launch discount for owners of the old game (33%) but at this point you've waited so long the current discount is more than that. It's an entirely new game with an entirely new publisher, and the old game has been widely available for virtually nothing, it would be silly to give away the new one for free to every bundle purchaser ever, they'd have made no money on it at all.

Gonna make some last minute buys.

Should I get Thumper or Redout? Different genres I know... I can get both, but then I'd have to drop Firewatch.

My Steam Link arrived today! Tested it out: on Beautiful with unlimited bandwidth and PC and Steam Link both wireless, The Witcher 3 and Doom looked and played fairly well. 1.2ms input lag and 19-20ms display lag; not the greatest but still playable. Of course, games will look much better on the PC, but for MP stuff like Duck Game that's not super graphic intensive it's great. And it will be nice to play slower paced single player games on a comfy couch.

Playing it only with 5 of my real life friends and it's fun.
I would never touch the game otherwise though.

I have no idea about servers since we host our own private one.
The game fully supports Steam so you can just right-click a friend and select "Join Game".

Just a note, the next DLC comes out on January 3rd; Afterbirth+ ($6.66 USD the first week, $9.99 USD after). The best way to look at Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is as a standalone expansion for Binding of Issac and it's DLC Wrath of Lamb. Rebirth includes all of the content from Binding of Isaac and Wrath of Lamb DLC and adds a ton of new content, modes, challenges, and most importantly, brings a new engine (no longer Flash @ 30fps). Even more, the game just far has more content even beyond the items and trinkets (i.e. floors, bosses, alternate paths, etc.). On top of this, Afterbirth adds even more and extends the game further (including a substantial mode; Greed). If you've only played the originals, Binding of Isaac + Afterbirth is a huge jump in content and gameplay. I'm sure Afterbirth+ will add to that substantially, especially with mod support and infinite runs.

so this nickelback isle in dragon's dogma is pretty interesting

read somewhere i should do this before using the wakestones at the everfall

it does give u a dark souls dungeon vibe right away, but i don't think that's what i'm looking for when i play dragon's dogma, i like the game the most when it's sprawling fields of grass and trees and ruins and the distant silhuette of a giant monster you most definitely want to go kill

we'll see, i do appreciate the variety and it seems like a lot more polished than the average dragon's dogma dungeon

i think i'm gonna stop doing side quests for a bit. chasing those badges is a pretty decent way to listen to the giantbomb goty deliberations but i read there's a hundred of them and i'm only at like 40 and like fuck that shit lol

dragon's dogma is so goooooooooood

I wanna play Deadly Premonition, but the reviews say the PC port is bad :/

It's mostly fixed thanks to Durante and it's going to be an ugly poorly-running badly-controlling PS2-vintage game in any form, I assure you (I say this as someone who bought the game day one and loves it)

Played through Inside yesterday. Very nice game. Beautiful visuals and some really fun puzzles to solve. It keeps getting weirder and weirder the further in you get.

I also tried playing Stephen's Sausage Roll the other day. Managed to complete two puzzles in half an hour and then basically gave up on the game. You'd think figuring out sliding puzzles wouldn't be that hard but my brain just does not seem to be wired to do them.

A friend very kindly gifted me Rimworld so I'm going to dive into that next.

What was that website that let you enter your profile and would let you sort your entire library by tags?

Generations is actually worth playing through first though in terms of mechanics and story?

Did you mean "Resurrection"? :) I'm still playing Resurrection, but as far as i know, God Eater 2 is a direct continuation of Resurrection's story. Mechanically, both games are very similar, since Resurrection is a remastered version of the first game with a lot of gameplay mechanics borrowed from 2.

Raw Data was $0.50 on Amazon and not a single mention in SteamGAF? Looks like you've lost your way.

Sell us on the game then :P

It's the best ver. of the game despite its bugs. Among it's biggest bugs though is the fact that if the game runs slow and stuttery, restarting your system will fix the issue and the game will run properly after restart.

I haven't bought anything except for selling cards. Sold almost 600 cards since the Winter sale started :)

I accidentally bought stuff while using up all my Steam Credit by mistake so now I have non :P
Not a biggy and even if I don't make $30 by the next sale, I was fine with my purchases this sale.
