Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

No lie I want to get the OG Street Fighter IV on Steam.
INDESTRUCTABO FOREVER!

Transistor is the second best game that's come out this decade. Keep at it.

Unless I'm missing something both SFV and SFxTekken are discounted?

As for Sword of Islam, if you want to play a Muslim character in Crusader Kings 2, it's essential. If not it's not. That's the case for a lot of CK2 and EU4 DLC.

Thanks for the info I'll consider grabbing CS2 and the DLC in a future sale or cheap bundle.

Thanks, valuable info all of that. I'll drop Transistor. I have Bastion and never got around to playing it so I feel Transistor would only suffer a similar fate. If one day I play and like Bastion I'll go for Transistor at some sale. (Or if they are completely different games and Transistor is the better game, it would be a good time to let me know now..)

I'll buy Satellite Reign regardless of performance issues I think.. If it runs like shit that will be even more Syndicate nostalgia to someone who actually played Arctic Accelerator on an A500.

Yeah, apart from the performance issues, Satellite Reign felt really cool during the hour I played it. It felt like a Syndicate with the same kind of atmosphere, but with added gameplay elements from games like Commandos and others. With cover mechanics, useable zip lines, more abilities and customization for the agents and their equipment, stealth mechanics, an open world, etc.

Will probably get back to it later.

Ok so.. Should I stay away of any of these:

Deadlight
Downwell
Ghostbusters
Life of Pixel
Mimpi
Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate
Poncho
Satellite Reign
Stealth Bastartd Deluxe
Tesla Effect
The Cave
Transistor

Its my haul if GAF agrees. Or I can get XCOM 2 instead of all this.. So hard..
I don't think Ghostbusters is worth your time. Neither are Life of Pixel or Mimpi.

There are better games to get for similar prices (<2€).

Mimpi 1+2 bundle was cheaper during autumn sale and may show up in a future bundle.
Ghostbusters is the old game right? It's OK long as you play on Easy cuz I think ghosts take longer to be taken down on Normal?

What happened to Day Z? I remember it being all the rage a while back. Is still being developed? It seems that it have been forever in early access.

What's going on with Indie Gala? I swear every time I check the site there's a new bundle. I think they've added like five bundles in the past week.

Split into 2 games. One of them is hugely popular and one of the most popular games on Steam and Twitchen.

From what I've read throughout the years, the mods are much better in every aspect (more content, less buggy, etc) and it seems as if DayZ Standalone will be in Early Access for a very, very long time. I bought Standalone when it first came out, booted it up today and I haven't seen any drastic changes. I don't think they'll ever finish this game.

edit: This may be nostalgia, but I think the original Arma 2 DayZ mod was in a better state than Standalone is right now.

I've bought a lot more this sale than I have during any other since probably more than two years ago.

  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
  • HITMAN (although so far only Prologue + Episode 1)
  • Mad Max
  • Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
I'm also seriously contemplating Ori and the Blind Forest and Batman: Arkham Knight.

There are a couple of reasons here I think: 1) I've managed to sell some crap on the market that I had no idea was worth so much, effectively giving me free money to throw at games; and 2) All of these games are relatively recent, and in the sales of yesteryear there just wasn't anything I wanted or that piqued my interest for a good price. Some of the games are still a little pricey (Deus Ex and HITMAN), but I can justify those purchases because I liked the prequels.

Now I just need to find the time to play them!

Good Luck!

Haul so far:

1. ABZU, needed something to settle down with after I just finished SOMA
2. XCOM2, cuz xcom
3. CRAWL - looks like fun local MP
4. Hyper Light Drifter - just looks epic and unique.

I am curious about CrossCode, but generally I like to wait for a game like that to be out of early access.

What's the difference between PixelJunkShooter and PixelJunkShooter Ultimate? I thought they were the same game with some kind of DLC but from the store it seems they are two completely different games..?

Well bought the AC Chronicles Trilogy. I know I will like it.

Now I have 12 € that I want to spend on steam and don't know what to get. Will need to do some digging.

Wasn't that H1Z1?

edit: This may be nostalgia, but I think the original Arma 2 DayZ mod was in a better state than Standalone is right now.

I played the mod in its early days and it was a lot of fun, even with all its problems.

EDIT: I just checked, it was released in EA 3 years ago, damn.

The mod was so much better. Standalone is the only game I wish I could refund, like you I bought it at release and feel completely ripped off.

That Darkness 2 is giving me some slow paced Doom 2016 vibes.

Just how terrible is Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures?

I'm in the mood for a new 3D platformer.

It's passable and almost unremarkable. I think Platinumed it on PS3.

If you're looking for a 3D platformer or adventure game consider these
Sonic Generations (has a Mario and Unleashed mod)
Psychonauts
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 1
Tomb Raider Ann.

I know it's not much of a discount but picked up Thumper, and christ. 1440p coupled with a pair of Sennheisers and capping it at 165fps and I feel as though I may have a stroke.

Amazing.

played project highrise for a while and it just made me want to go play simtower instead for a bit. might give that a shot tomorrow

Yeah, my first experience with it was awesome. Me and my friends were stopped by a massive group (they were nice and polite) and they gave us a whole bunch of items, some general tips and didn't shoot us in the back once we were on our way. The state it's in now makes me disappointed because it's so damn predictable.

Dean Hall sold many of us a great idea.

Alas - already played all you listed to completion. Ty is my favourite non-Nintendo 3D platformer of all time.

Thinking of trying Legend of Kay instead.

Please Abzu come out on the Humble Monthly.

Origin and Legends are good, some prefer one over the other. Get Origin from GOG since it's DRM free if you could, but otherwise Legends is a blast to play.

Oh yeah that and Mini Ninja.
Check them out. Kay will feel a little outdated with the camera and a few controls but should fill that niche.

Again, played Mini Ninjas, but Kay is bought - thanks!

I have 4 copies of talisman digital edition but Id like to give them to people who would play with me. What would the best way to do this?

step 1 make friends step 2 give game
or
step 1 give game via modbot or whatever
step 2 hope the people who get the game friend me and play with me. Feels kinda sad.

I have the game but never played it, so I'd be up for that. Does it need 4 players?

If you're a Ghostbusters fan then the 2009 game is a must buy. The game isn't perfect but it feels like you're in a third Ghostbusters movie that never happened.

I wouldn't go that far, because there were far too many callbacks to the first movies. I don't think any moviegoer would be pleased with the return of certain villains in a full-length movie. But it does feel like a good game that fits within the Ghostbusters universe.

No, you can play with up to 6 people. Prologue (which has its on steam cards and is dirt cheap) teaches you the basics of the non dlc characters in a single player format. Gold pack includes 5 gift copies, season pass, prologue and your own copy. In digital, if you play by yourself you can play the AI.

Im Delicious Banchou on steam.
