Steam Winter Sale 2016 thread of hoping for better deals elsewhere

OK! Just made my purchases:

ABZU
Final Fantasy VI
Oxenfree

I really wanted to get Superhot and DOOM, but I think I want to wait for them to drop a little lower. Both are something I generally wouldn't go out of my way to buy, but with so many people talking about DOOM, I really figured it's something I shouldn't miss.

How does Witcher 3 run on a 3570k?

I remember the game running pretty well for me, I have an overclocked i5 2500k and a GTX 970. Played it at 1080p.

DOOM is great so far, and I'm not a even shooter guy. I debated waiting for a 75% or something too, but I don't regret it. It just feels like old school fun.

Enjoy ABZU! To me, it's a hair short of being a masterpiece. Put a tear in my eye a couple of times as well.

Have u tried the lara croft games? They are puzzle action games
Sure that and trine, keep talking (does that count?)uhh I'm sure there's more

About the bestsellers, I never would've thought that a souls game would be up there when demon souls came out for PS3 all those years ago, truly a great franchise.

Not steam specific, but the heck man, I've been trying to buy a new GPU off of newegg for the last few hours and every time their servers crash on me -_-

Darkest Dungeon was very close to being my GOTY, but all you said it pretty much true, at least you have the right expectations. I still got 55 hours out of it, and they are releasing a big update soon-ish with a new mode that promises to greatly reduce the grind while keeping the game hard.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ninja Dog patch incoming pushed me over the edge.

Downloading now.

disappointing sale, only bought broforce. bought lisa too but i refunded that quick.

DOOM is amazing

hahaha

So Table Top Racing: World Tour is Indie Game Stand's current featured deal. $3.99 for the base game ($5.99 in the Steam Winter Sale, lowest price $3.74), beat the average to get the Supercharger Pack DLC ($1.59 Steam Winter Sale, lowest price $0.99)

Toybox Turbos has the better rep as a Micro Machines homage, but the Team VVV podcast went ahead and had TTR: World Tour as one of the hosts' top indie racing games of the year...
Really? TTR is very, very dull to play.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is actually a lot of fun.

How do I listen to the radio?

There's hotkeys to switch stations on the fly or you can manually sort/select them in the Pause menu.

Game ships with dozens and dozens of Euro stations that you can listen to live. It's also easy to add your own to the master .xml document.

Finding or creating your own stations that fit your style/mood is a cornerstone of what makes Euro Truck amazing.

Fantastic game.

Ah, makes sense I suppose. Thought it was fun-ish, but saw it getting old a little fast.

Does anyone have thoughts on the full game of shadow tactics? That demo was great, would like to know if it keeps up

Haven't played AoW III, but Endless Legend is one of my favorite games from the past few years. Definitely get the bundle/complete edition with all the DLC - it's all pretty good and you'll want it later.

Both are good games. Go with EL if you want more of a traditional 4x with lots of cool ideas about empire management and varied races, or go AoW3 if you want less empire management in favor of more RPG mechanics and top notch turn based tactical combat.

Do you want better combat, or better exploration and base building? AoW3 is tactical combat focused, EL is more Civ style 4X. They're both great but distinctly different.

I think I'll have more fun with EL more. Thanks!

Thanks, I had to update the radio list cause I didn't see any. Amazing!

DRM-free Witcher 3 is #2 and greatly outsold every Denuvo game? B-b-but piracy
That...doesn't prove anything, when most Denuvo games are stuff like ADR1FT, Inside, and ABZÛ (and games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Hitman, Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Dishonored 2, and Watch Dogs 2)

Also Total War: Warhammer had Denuvo and it's in the same category

is there a limit on days that you can refund games after you purchase them?

I forgot to PM the user for the 52 games challenge and now i'm not in the Hall of Fame smh

Age of Empires 2! And the remaster wasn't even released this year. That's amazing.

Dragons Dogma and FFX must've also sold really well for late PC ports. Official prove for ATLUS stupidity i'd say.

The Platinum Tier doesn't surprise me at all tho.

Such ports needs to be decided in Japan. That kind of thing isn't happening unless there's a push from Western branch. And Atlus USA isn't the company who's gonna push for PC. At all.

No Man's Sky #3

A game that has one of the lowest ratings on the store. We gamers sure are a gullible bunch aren't we... Well, I shouldn't include myself in that. I saw that coming a mile away ;P
I didn't expect some of the bullshit that happened, but the basic premise sounded like it'd be more NOVEL than ENJOYABLE.

But novelty is probably enough of a motivator when you're not lacking in spare cash.

Denuvo in my eyes is treated by some as a literal gaming Boogieman.

I might end up picking up a dew more things before the sale ends, shmn...

It's a lesson on not doing preorders or buying into hype.

I got burned on the mediocrity that is Fallout 4 after what I feel to be the greatest ad campaign in the history of gaming, from the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. short clips to the F2P simulation Fallout Shelter. I didn't have it in me to get burned again so soon after that.

Age of Empires II HD
Stronghold Crusader HD
Stronghold HD
Darksiders Warmastered Edition
Slain: Back from Hell

Just bought these. Think that'll be it for this Winter Sale.

After Rogue One, I'm looking for a Star Wars game to play. Already have KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 and I'm limited to games playable on Mac.

With that in mind, am I better off buying the Jedi Knight Bundle (Dark Forces, Jedi Academy, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast and Dark Forces II) for 5€ (only Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast are playable on Mac) or The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition for 5€?

Last thing I have to decide before I proceed to checkout. Will probably buy:
Hotline Miami 2
Undertale
Braid
Saturday Morning RPG
Crypt of the Necrodancer
Psychonauts
Transistor

Anyone have an opinion on Subnautica vs The Long Dark? I wouldn't mind picking up something survival-y and am leaning more towards The Long Dark as the underwater setting of Subnautica doesn't really do much for me. My only concern with The Long Dark is whether or not there's enough content to keep my attention for some time.
