Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Yeah, if anything, Noctis looks more Asian when he's grown up. The thing I've always found funny about anime (most anime, anyway) is the characters rarely look Asian despite being of Asian origin.

At any rate, add me to the list of straight people who are gay for Adult Noctis. They need to patch in the option to play as Adult Noctis in the past.

There's literally a huge post on the previous page demonstrating how he looks a lot like Keanue Reeves. How is he not White?

3YuAKQl.jpg

Reeves was born in Beirut, Lebanon, the son of Patricia Bond (née Taylor), a costume designer/performer, and Samuel Nowlin Reeves, Jr.[4] His mother is English, from Essex, England.[5] His father, an American from Hawaii, has Native Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, and English ancestry.
Reeves has said: "My grandmother is Chinese and Hawaiian, so I was around Chinese art, furniture and cuisine when I was growing up"

Well.

Regarding Amano's Big Bang art (which is gorgeous, btw), yeah it was originally made for Versus, but it's kind of cool how it works in the context of FFXV. Way I see it re-contextualized now: Boys are in the car, girl is Luna, demon carrying girl is Ardyn (stealing her away from Noctis), you have several summons in there, and then the bulk of spirits represent the "horrors of the night," i.e. daemons.

Didn't the Crystal make him (and his father) age faster?

I just assumed his father aged faster as a result of the need to keep the shield up. If the Crystal forcibly aged Noctis biologically beyond his 30 years of age, then it clearly escaped my attention.

First time I'm hearing this. I also thought he looked much older than 30 but if he was intended to look older due to the crystal its news to me. Never the game said that and in the movie I think they did explain having to keep the shield on took a toll on King Regis' health but I cant remember anything about faster ageing.

The movie and anime touch on King Regis aging prematurely due to the ring/crystal. But that was using it to power the Wall. I don't think it's necessarily what happened with Noctis here; I think they just wanted his older self to be visually distinct, even if it's a tad unrealistic his facial features would change so dramatically.

Also, I love this fucking game. I thought that finishing it would free me from its grip, but I'm still under its spell. I find the atmosphere of Ch. 14 to be especially intoxicating.

The real bullshit is that Gladio and Ignis are only 3 and 2 years older than Noctis respectively. That doesn't make any goddamn sense if you watched Brotherhood.

Havent you heard? You cant have people older than 25 as main characters in a JRPG. Unless you do but its in the end and its kept a secret and out of any marketing materials of the game so that when it happens you already bought the game.

Yeah its bullshit

Iris seems around the same age as noct in brotherhood then we find out there's a 5 year difference.

What a handsome man. I swear I'm straight but I call it as I see it. They outdid themselves. Why aren't we seeing a #HotNoct meme surface? How is Ryu with a beard better looking than this motherfucker?

Needs to take his shirt off.

Shaved and combed Noctis in the afterlife marriage scene doesn't look very Caucasian anymore.

I guess he's supposed to be neither really. ;) It's just what a fairly realistical art style with anime influences looks like.

Noct is pure Asian.

This is a typical "why is everyone in anime white" misunderstanding.

Or he looks Italian there. It is funny how he does have various looks along a continuum where you can read into more or less one way or the other. Half of one, half the other. Or he is simply Noctis as one earlier put it. lol

I wonder how older Iris would've looked like.

Episode Iris is what we really need, who cares how Ignis lost his sight :P

Couldn't be shown, didn't want to distract Noct from killing himself for the greater good... Man was a virgin and Iris was already throwing herself at him hardcore.

Nah, my vote goes for episode Aranea. Iris combat style was meh (... well, like her character overall), but if they can make all of Aranea's attacks playable, including the crazy jumps.... man.

Noctis has like 4 different designs and none of them look like the same person lol

What makes you think that? Other than the trope that he's a JRPG protagonist meaning he must be single, and never had had a girlfriend...

So Prompto is unanimously the best bro right? These kind of characters usually annoy the shit out of me but Prompto grew on me. Ignis is second. He got a lot of sympathy from me when he went blind and he took the blindness like a fucking champ. Gladiolus is easily the worst imo. He's such a tryhard alpha. The guy seriously needed to chill, especially in the time win after Luna died. He's also just boring.

Noctis won me over by the end. I'll put it this way:

Old Noctis-->Prompto-->Young Noctis-->Ignis---------------------->Gladio

Old "tired of this bullshit" Noctis was such a goddamn badass and his voice actor did great work conveying that too but other than that i agree with you on everything. Ignis at first seemed like a stick in the mud but he grew on me, especially after being blinded. Gladio was boring but I didnt dislike him.

I loved the contrast when summoning Shiva between Old and Young Noctis. When YN did it in the train he was shivering with cold and hugging himself to keep warm. When ON did it in Insomnia he was covered in ice too but didnt shiver. He just stood there and watched how she kicked Ifrit's ass. I loved that. Badass.

Well he only has male friends, has seemingly only showed affection to his childhood friend he hasn't seen in a decade, and even in the afterlife when he could do anything he marries her. Plus Regis doesn't seem like the type to take Noctis to a brothel "to become a man" or some shit like that

We know he went to school and he was quite popular with him being royalty and all. We dont know everything that happened in those years before FFXV started. There must've been no shortage of girls throwing themselves at him during those years.

Ignis is the Best Bro. I really appreciated how he didn't wallow in tired self-pity or anything like that. He had an adjustment period, but that's understandable. Also, I appreciated his understated humour.

Gladio turned into a nutbag after sea monster, though. I understand that he was trying to keep Noctis focused on the mission and whatever, but A) I was playing Noctis and was focused on the mission, so there was a huge disconnect, and B) I don't really remember any cutscenes or lines of dialog from Noctis before that where he really wavered in an appreciable manner that necessitated a bunch of yelling and snide comments.

Was the whole 10 years later part of the story added after Tabata took over? I wonder if adult Noct always looked like that. They did redesign his dad because of Kingsglaive so I could see them redesigning Noctis to resemble his dad the older he gets. By the looks of it that seems like what they did.

Just beat it. Really loved it. I actually really liked Chapter 13 because it felt like a classic bullshit FF dungeon. When the ring gave me Death and Holy, I realized this was the point to start sucking down all those elixirs I was saving up and let loose, like most penultimate FF dungeons.

I actually liked the story and how it played with expectations. The empire being set up as the big bad to get revenge on being wiped out by their own hubris before you get the chance to was actually really nice. I loved Ardyn as a villain and liked he had parts from all the myriad villains of previous FF games and didn't rely on the standbys of either "basically god that suddenly appears" or "sephiroth but stronger".

This game also feel like an anniversary game with how much DNA from the earlier games are incorporated, more so than usual. The cold open was like FF2, Elemancy was like the magic system from FF1 (and by extension D&D), the industrialization and Niffleheim was similar to FF7 (even sharing a reference to Midgar), Magitek and the World of Ruin to FF6, and so on.

I really wish we got to see more of the World of Ruin since it was a cool nod to FF6. Hopefully the final expansion DLC that includes Iris, Aranea, and Cor will be set in the World of Ruin and what they were up to at the time.

Yeah, they didn't commit strongly enough to Noctis's grief being a problem, and he had plenty of reason to be upset. Gladio's smugness came off as grating in light of that.

I would also argue that
Luna was too underdeveloped for Noctis's grief to resonate in the first place,
but still...

I'm in the minority but I liked Gladio the best until ch.10, where he turns into a shithead, letting Iggy shine as best bro.

I really like that too. It's unfortunate to see people shrug that off as "offscreen events, they ran out of time". The amount of things happening offscreen in FFXV may be a problem, but that doesn't mean that every time anything happens offscreen it's an indication of that. Empire already ruined by daemons by the moment you arrive was indeed very good.

It even shows a different side of them, I thought. As I was reading on their research to deal with daemons, locking infected zones and all that, I couldn't help but think about the obvious fact that not everyone has a crystal to protect themselves from the effects of the scourge. Insomnia locked themselves even from the rest of Lucis and were safe, but the rest of the world had to deal with that in some way.
